ECHOES
Dear Friends,
As your president I must begin this letter bymaking a confession. I grew up in the 50s and
60s as most of you know. Coming out of that turbulent time creates allkinds of issues. Well, here it is: I am a Beach Boys fan. Now that Ihave said it I feel much better. Not only am I a Beach Boys fan, butone of my favorite songs from them is "Be True to Your School." Itgoes on about how your school is the greatest ever and is deservingof your loyalty and support.
The Beach Boys are absolutely right. The Baptist College of Florida isthe greatest school I know. We have the best alumni, the best faculty, the best staff, the best students, the best trustees, and the best andmost supportive friends that any school could ever desire. JustImagine what our school can be with our vigorous support in thefuture.
I need your help to carry this great school into the future stronger thanever. We have begun "Just Imagine" which is our first comprehensivecapital campaign since I became president fourteen years ago. Ourschool is growing, but our facilities are aging and beginning to deteri-orate. According to figures just released we have the second loweststudent tuition of any school in Southern Baptist life, and I want to con-tinue that. However, providing that kind of value for students meansthat we do not have the funding needed to build new facilities andrefurbish existing ones.
I have never devoted this entire Echoes letter to a fundraising appeal, but I have never needed your help as much as I do now! You shouldhave already received information on our "Just Imagine" campaign. Ifyou have, please respond by giving generously for the worthy goalsthat we have prayerfully set for our future. If you have not received anyinformation, please contact me personally so that I might tell you aboutthis exciting opportunity.
Ruth Ann and I have pledged our prayer and financial support to thiscampaign. Please join us as we see our school become all that ourLord wants it to be. This really is the time to be "True to Your School."
God Bless You,
Thomas A. Kinchen, President
From The PresidentBe True to
Your School

Ted H.TraylorTed H. Traylor, PastorOlive Baptist ChurchPensacola, Florida
It is a joy and a privilege for me to recommend theBaptist College of Florida. I am grateful to God tohave a school that I can commend with no reserva-tions whatsoever. I am grateful that the school isqualified to prepare people to pastor any of thechurches around America, even to succeed thispastor. I am grateful for the leadership of theschool, for their commitment to conservative, Biblicaland trustworthy ministry.
I pray that God will speak to many of your studentsand that they will find themselves being educated at
the Baptist College of Florida.
Blessings!Johnny HuntJohnny Hunt, PastorFirst Baptist ChurchWoodstock, Georgia

QMr. Parker, as the newestmember of the administrativestaff, what is your most signif-
icant impression of your new work?
AThe first weeks have been bothexciting and challenging.Perhaps the most significant
impression is the quality of the stu-dents and their commitment to doingthe will of God in their lives. Equally, impressive is the unparalleled dedica-tion of the faculty and staff. This insti-tution is unlike any with which I havebeen associated.
QFor a number of years youhave been a friend to the col-lege. What have you seen as a
member of the administrative teamthat you did not see before you movedto Graceville?
As an interested outsider I hadheard how BCF could stretch adollar and make it go further
than almost anyone could imagine. Now that I am on campus I see thistaking place. We have operated withvery limited funds and yet we continueto turn out well prepared and deeplydedicated students who are making adifference in the world.
QYour work as Vice Presidentfor Institutional Advancementincludes many responsibilities.
How are you spending the majority of
your time in these first months?
AThat is an interesting question.I really did not know what all Iwould be overseeing but each
part of my work is both challengingand rewarding. The first priority ofmy office is to give leadership to ourcapital funds program, JUST IMAG-INE. This requires a great amount oftime but it is of highest priority to thetrustees, our president and the facultyand staff. We must raise the moneyneeded to provide desperately neededfacilities here on campus.
QAnd what facilities are youspeaking of?
A long-time friend
of the college,
BCF’s new vice
president for insti-
tutional advance-
ment chats with
the editor of
Echoes about his
new found respon-
sibilities as a mem-
ber of the college’s
administration and
what it’s like to
now be on the
inside at BCF.

The Institutional Advancement office staff discusses the upcoming “Just Imagine” campaign at a staff meeting.
AWe simply must update the R.G. Lee Chapel. We want this tobe the center focus of the cam-
pus and to become a learning centerand laboratory for preaching, musicand visual arts. The renovation willprovide state of the art media produc-tion facilities and additional seating torelieve overcrowding. The expandedand renovated facility will provide abeautiful symbol of what our school isabout.
QAre there other needs?
AYes, two buildings for use byour students are desperatelyneeded. One building will
serve as an auditorium and the otherwill provide a wellness center.
QHow will the college pay forthe renovation of Lee Chapeland the renovation of these
buildings?
AA large part of my new workwill be to join with ourPresident and travel across our
state and the adjacent states invitingfriends to join us in giving to this proj-
ect. JUST IMAGINE is the campaignslogan and what we want to do. Wewant our friends to invest in the livesand ministry of students and to imag-ine with us what a difference this willmake.
QWhen does JUST IMAGINEbegin?
ANow! As we speak our friendsare beginning to receive infor-mation about the much needed
improvements and they are beingasked to join with us in investing in thelives of the folks whom our Lord hascalled. We are not asking for gifts, rather investments. Often a gift is usedand there is little return. We believewhatever we do with our campus andfor our students is an eternal invest-ment.
QHow might one join in thisinvestment?
AAny money sent for this projectwill be used exclusively for therenovation of Lee Chapel and
the much needed buildings. One couldsend their investment to the college incare of Dr. Kinchen's office or theymay mail the check to the office ofInstitutional Advancement.
QThank you for the interview. Is there anything else youmight want to share?
AIt is such a joy to serve the Lordat BCF. I believe we are goingto get the new work accom-
plished and we will continue to pre-pare the finest students in the world tohelp Change the World with theUnchanging Gospel of Jesus Christ.
