The holiday season brings many reminders of all that we have to be thankful for—and plenty of opportunities to help those that may not be as fortu-nate. Thanksgiving Eve Mass was so special as we each gave thanks for our blessings, as well as gave a can of food to help the food pantries of St. Vincent de Paul Society. Hun-dreds of cans were donated by our school families—thanks for your donations.

Also in November, the 8th grade classrooms collected Halloween candy from stu-dents to give to troops over-seas. Look for Our Monthly Holy Hero!

The Catholic Identity Committee features the story of a saint in order for our families to learn more about the lives of these inspiring role models. We are so blessed as Catholics to have such a vast number of diverse people to give us hope and show us examples of how we can love and serve God. Our featured saint for December is St. John of the Cross. He was a Carmelite priest who endured many hardships throughout his life, yet never lost faith. His feast day is December 14th. All children at SPPCS receive a Holy Hero handout each month—ask them about it! The hand-

outs will also be available each month on our website under “Quick Links”.

Kids’ Rummage Sale

As you clean out for the holidays, please remember the Children's Rummage Sale for the Missions, which the 5th Graders sponsor each year at SPPCS to help needy children around the world. This year the date will be Thursday, Feb.3rd, during Catholic Schools Week. All money raised will go to places and organizations like: Food for the Poor, Catholic Relief, Covenant House, Smile Train, Appala-chia, Native American Missions, etc. and our local St. Vincent de Paul Society. To be successful, we need LOTS of items to sell. The sale is mostly geared to the

SPPCS children, but it is open to the pub-lic after school.

Donated items will be accepted beginning Dec. 20th, and all through Jan., the earlier the better. We are looking for: working toys(please put batteries in them if needed), games, puzzles, books, jewelry, decorative items,

candy, soda, sporting goods, movies, candles, lotions, dolls, purses, etc. We also could use giftcards or other

items for the Children's Raffle. Please, no clothing or stuffed animals,

unless they are new.
