Why should we care? …Because of the kids; the very reason you decided to become an educator (hopefully). It can be easy to succumb to cynicism after many years of teaching ‘bad’ kids, but you just can’t. Don’t be one more person in their life that doesn’t believe in them. I know, easier said than done, right? As educators, we all have a lot on our plates. But the fact is that we, as a society cannot afford (both fiscally and culturally) to keep doing what we are doing. No one expects you to be perfect, but the mark of a good teacher is trying to do right by your students. Sometimes, we succeed in this, but not always.     Control your biases when dealing with students
