    Dear Parent/Carer,

Sports Day: New Arrangements for Years 7-9 Wednesday 15th July 2015

Following the postponement of last weeks Sports Day, I am writing to inform you of the new arrangements for our annual Sports Day at the Osterley Athletics track on the 15th July. To make the event as outstanding as in previous years it is important that students as well as parents/carers understand the organisation for the day. All students will participate in a range of track and field events. Students gain points for their form group and house based on their active participation. Students are only allowed to take part in a maximum of three events. Students are required to follow the schedule below:

8.30 am: Years 7, 8 and 9 arrive at school and go to their form room for registration. 8.45 am: Students are supervised and taken to the track. 9.00 am: Events begin. 12.00-12.15 pm: Events conclude. 12.15 pm Students return to school for registration and dismissal.

Students on Free School Meals will be provided with a packed lunch, following afternoon registration. Students must wear full and correct Physical Education kit, including a House Polo Shirt. A tracksuit can be worn to and from school but jeans and other informal clothing will not be allowed. Since there is no caf at the track, all students are advised to bring a small snack and to have sufficient water for the day. Cover and shaded areas at the track are sparse; a shower-proof jacket, hat and sun-cream are allowed and strongly advised. Absolutely no valuables should be brought to the event and the school does not take responsibility for any damage or loss. Given that this sports event takes place within the period of Ramadan we ask that our Muslim students, who undertake fasting, try to communicate any issues relating their health and / or participation in the sports event to their form tutor, either, beforehand or on the day. Parents/carers are most welcome to attend Sports Day as spectators; a seating area will be arranged. Should we anticipate that bad weather may affect the organisation and smooth running of the day then a decision on cancellation will be made by 3pm on Tuesday. We urge parents/carers and students to check the school website for this information. Should the event be postponed again, Wednesday 15th July will revert to being a normal school day. Thank you in anticipation of your support for what is always an exciting event in our school sporting calendar. Yours faithfully,
