Sports Day IV

I wish to welcome you all to the fourth whole College Sports Day at Launceston College.

Today is the culmination of the house sports competitions that have taken place over the academic year. These events, such as basketball, football and dodgeball, are highly competitive and are a highlight of each half-term. Rescorla are cur-rently the sportiest house having won most of these events but that means nothing on the day! Trevithick are still the cur-rent Sports Day champions and will be looking to defend their trophy this year. Their dominance at 6th form level last year was definitely a contributing factor in their win.

We have a great deal of support from the local community and we thank our main sponsors in particular for their kind gen-erosity. Castle Veterinary Group have been supporting us now for four years and this year we also thank Taylor Wimpey for their support. Please support our sponsors if you can.

This event is able to happen because of a lot of work from a lot of people, all of whom are too numerous to mention here. The effort and support that the College staff have shown in getting this event organised is a testament to the passion that they have in creating opportunities for young people in Launceston.

Thanks in particular go to my fellow PE staff. Here is a group of people who balance lessons with other duties such as pas-toral roles, fixtures, primary events etc; the list goes on. They are a passionate and extremely hard-working team and their work is appreciated enormously by all the College community.

A big well done also goes to Bradley Sleeman (7PKD) who designed such a brilliant front cover.

All 100m Hurdles will be from 1400 onwards

Primary school races will commence after the 100m Hurdles

You can only take part in 1 track, 1 field

and 1 relay event at the most.
