Sports Day 2015

26 th June 2015 Dear Parent/Carer, Sports Day – Wednesday 1 st July 2015 I write to inform you that Isleworth & Syon School will be holding our annual Sports Day at the Osterley Athletics track, Isleworth on Wednesday 1 st July. This will be the third time that our Sports Day will be held at the Osterley track. Suffice it to say that we hope to make it as memorable as past events. To make the event as outstanding as previous years, it is important that students as well as parents/carers understand the organisation for the day. All students will participate in a range of athletic events, track and field. Students gain points for their form group and house based on their active participation. Students are only allowed to take part in a maximum of three events. All students will be walking to the venue since the track is only 100 metres away from school. Students are asked to follow the schedule below: 9.00am: Years 9 and 10 arrive at school and go to their form room. 9.30am: Years 9 and 10 are supervised to the track and begin their events. 12.00 noon Years 9 and 10 leave the track and go home. 12.00 noon Years 7 and 8 arrive at school and go to their form room. 12.30pm: Years 7 and 8 are supervised to the track and begin their events. 3.00pm: Years 7 and 8 leave the track and go home. Please do not send your son/ward to school earlier than the time indicated as staff will only be available to supervise at the times stated. This particularly applies to Year 7 and 8 students who must not arrive at school any time earlier than 12noon. Students must wear full and correct Physical Education kit. A tracksuit can be worn to and from school but jeans and other informal clothing will not be allowed. Since there is no café at the track, all students are advised to bring a packed healthy lunch with sufficient water for the day; students on Free School Meals (FSM) will receive a packed lunch. Cover and shaded areas at the track are sparse; a shower-proof jacket, hat and sun-cream are allowed and strongly advised. Absolutely no valuables should be brought to the event; the school does not take responsibility for any damage or loss. Given that this sports event takes place within the period of Ramadan we ask that our Muslim students, who undertake fasting, try to communicate any issues relating their health and/or participation in the sports event to their form tutor, either, beforehand or on the day. Parents/carers are most welcome to attend Sports Day as spectators; a seating area will be arranged. Should we anticipate that bad weather may affect the organisation and smooth running of the day, a decision on cancellation will be made before 4.00pm on Tuesday 30 th June 2015. We urge parents/carers and students to check the school website for this information. In such an event, Wednesday 1 st July will be a normal school day. Thank you in anticipation of your support for what is always an exciting event in our school sporting calendar. Yours faithfully, Mr S Fisher Deputy Headteacher [email protected]
