WELCOME to the May / June edition of the Sports Bulletin. We continue to celebrate the sporting success of our students, both inside and outside of school. We also continue with our next phase of fundraising for the all-weather pitch facility, Sponsor a Square. Thank you for your continued support to the school and ultimately the girls and their sporting careers. GALA DINNER SUCCESS Before we move on to our next campaign we must update you on our gala dinner. The evening was a huge success. Gabby Logan was brilliant, awards were presented (see complete list of awards on following pages), dinner and drinks were enjoyed, hundreds of photos were taken and the dance floor was full. We are already looking forward to next years! For a full write up and links to photos please see the May edition of High Flyer which can be found here: https://issuu.com/wycombehighsch/ docs/may_high_flyer SPONSOR A SQUARE You have the unique chance to sponsor a square of the new all- weather pitches. We really need your support. Please visit the web page http://www.whs.bucks.sch.uk/PlayYourPart and sponsor a square or two and encourage other family members to do the same. In return, your name will be included on a donor recognition board at the new facility and you will receive a commemorative certificate. Sponsoring a square is a great way to honour your daughters time at school and to support future generations of Wycombe High School students. INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS Golf Allie Holtom (Y7, B7) recently won the 9 Hole Stableford event at the OLCGA Oxfordshire Girls’ Championship at Henley. Winning with an amazing score of 23 Stableford points, 9 points ahead of anyone else. All the practice is paying off Allie, keep it up. Hockey Gaby Crosby (Y9, P3) attended the England Hockey U14 National Finals at the Olympic Park with her team from Reading Hockey club. They played some great hockey, progressed from the group stages and made the 3rd / 4th place play off. They came away with a medal and are the 4th best team in the country. Netball Lucy Sutton (Y9, T2) competed with her Maidenhead team, Eagles, in the National Netball Finals against 17 other clubs. They only lost one match all day and were hopeful of a top 10 finish but were absolutely delighted to make the 3rd / 4th place play off where they faced a South Region rival from Milton Keynes. They won the match and finished 3rd. A fantastic result and achievement, congratulations to Lucy and her team. Volleyball Izzy Tucker (Y7, C4) represented South East England in the U14 Inter Regional British Volleyball Championships recently. A great achievement at 11 years old. The team came 4th, not the result they had hoped for but Izzy was one of only 3 athletes at the event singled out by England Volleyball for outstanding performance. Swimming Millie Sansome (Y10, T4) had a fantastic trip to Majorca to compete for England in the Best Swim Fest open water event. We wish Millie and Sophie Millen ( Y12, P7) the best of luck for the 18 June when they will be competing at the Great East Swim near Ipswich. Both girls rank in the Top 3 of the Elite Junior age groups and are in contention for GB European Junior selection. SPORTS BULLETIN WYCOMBE HIGH SCHOOL May / June 2016

TEAM SUCCESS

Athletics The Junior and Senior teams competed in the English School Cup competition in May. Both teams had a very successful day with the Juniors coming 1st and the Inters, an all Year 9 team, came an impressive 3rd, having competed against Y10 athletes. Both teams have qualified for the ESSA Cup Regional A Final on Tuesday 21st June in London. Good luck girls.

Trampolining Junior and Senior teams from the Trampoline club competed in our annual fixture against Wycombe Abbey. Both Junior and Senior members won medals in several disciplines. It was a great event and our thanks go to our specialist coaches, Carolyn Mainwairing and Caitlin Comley for all their hard work.
