The Sports Activity & ResearchCentre (SARC) can be used by allstudents and staff here at theUniversity of Chichester regardlessof which course you may bestudying on.
When can you use it?During term-time the centre is open from8:30am-10pm Monday to Friday and 9am-5pmSaturday and Sunday. During holiday periodsthe facility has reduced opening hours, whichare 8:30-5pm Monday –Friday.
What do we do?As shown in the brochure, we have manyfacilities which are used regularly forcompetitive sport throughout the week.Equally these facilities can be used to playrecreational sports at any time where there is aspace available. The facilities are all free to bookwith a small equipment charge taken for anyequipment borrowed from SARC.
What else do we do?We have a number of qualified fitnessinstructors and personal trainers on hand tooffer advice for anyone wishing to join theFitness Suite during the year. As well as this, youwill have the chance to join in fitness classessuch as Zumba and Circuit Training as ofSeptember.
What generic courses do we run?SARC is a nationally recognised training centrefor many sports and qualifications and eachyear we provide a large number of coachingcourses and workshops on which students,staff and local coaches/teachers can enrol. Thisyear’s current list is published in the brochure.
Where can I find out more information?SARC is based towards the far end of theBishop Otter campus, with the main receptionadjacent to the Astroturf. Our University has a SportsActivity and Research Centre(SARC) incorporating a sports hallthat is used for Basketball, Netball,Trampolining, Badminton, Volleyball,Cricket, Soccer, Table Tennis,Hockey and Ultimate Frisbee.Additionally, there is a Fitness Suite,Strength and Conditioning roomand two seminar rooms.

The University of ChichesterStudents’ Union (UCSU), SportsFederation is responsible forstudent sport at the University ofChichester, with 20 Sports Clubsand over 30 competitive teams.
UCSU Sports Federation include:

Socially, Wednesday night at the Zee Bar iswhere all the Sports Clubs are out in force,generally in fancy dress. We also offer links to a number of partner local Sports Clubs in thearea, please contact [email protected] forinformation on these and setting up newactivities within the Union.
In conjunction with SARC the Get ActiveProgramme starting in September will offer awide range of casual opportunities includingsmall sided competitions, martial arts and turnup and play sessions. For further informationplease contact [email protected].
Gifted Athlete Scholarship ProgrammeThe University of Chichester offers a sportsscholarship to help students combine academicstudy with excellence in sporting performanceby offering the flexibility and support.
The benefits are a financial award of £350, free SARC Gym Gold Membership, worth£120, free Sports Federation Membership:worth £17, Sports Science support including a supervised Strength & Conditioningprogramme up to £200, Physiotherapy supportbased at the university and a tracksuit.
