Well, in the wettest June that any of us can remember, the children and staff have kept a positive attitude as we head towards the end of a very busy term. So much has happened this year, and as usual, the summer term has been packed with lots of work and lots of fun! The classes at the end of each phase, Reception, Year 2 and Welcome from the Headteacher Sporting Resilience Bells Farm children take part in Sports Day

meerkats;theyweremuchcuterthan

wehadexpectedthemtobe.Nextwe

wenttothepenguins.Theywereall

veryinterestingtowatch.At/irstthey

wereontherocksandthentheywent

intothewaterandwewatchedthem

swimunderwaterthroughaspecial

window.Itwasamazing!Theywere

veryfastanditlookedliketheywere

splashingtheir/lippersatus.

Thenwewenttoseethetapirs.We

wereveryinterestedinthemaswe

havebeenlearningabouttheminour

rainforestprojectsthistermandthey

didn’tletusdown.Theyweremuch

biggerthanweexpectedthemtobe!

Wethoughttheymightbeshyas

whenwearrived…theyleft!

NextwevisitedaBorneolonghouse.

Therewerelotsofbirdsandplants

thatmightliveintherainforest.We

alsosawadisplayofpeoplewholive

intherainforest.Itwasinterestingto

lookattheclothestheywear,theclay

potstheymakeandthebasketsthey

weave.Thenwewenttoseethespi-

der-monkeysaswehavelearntabout

themaswell.Therewasaladygiving

aninformationtalkandfeedingthem

andwelearntlotsofinterestingfacts.

AfterlunchwewenttotheDiscovery

Centreforarainforestexplorers

workshop.Nickyaskeduslotsof

questionsabouttherainforestand

wasveryimpressedwithour

knowledge.Shethentolduslotsmore

factsandweevengottotouchacock-

roachandtortoise.Someofuswerea

bitnervous(asyoucanseefromthe

photos!)butmostofushadatry.We

weresurprisedthecockroachfelt

smoothandsoftlikeanail.

Nextwewenttothebutter/lyforest.

Lotsofbutter/lieslandedonus.They

weresobeautiful.Thenwewentto

visitallthedifferentmonkeysthey

haveincludingtheOrang-Utansand

Chimpanzees.Thelargestchimpanzee

wasveryshybecausehekepthiding

fromthecamera!Thebabywasfunny

becausehekeptcoveringhimselfwith

hay.

Ourfavouritepartoftheafternoon

wasvisitingtheelephantsandgi-

raffes.Wewereamazedathowbigthe

elephantswereandhowtallthegi-

raffeswere.Theywereveryimpres-

sive.Aswewalkedthroughtheele-

phantforestwesawGanesh!Wehave

beenlearningabouthiminourRE

lessonssoitwaslovelytoseeareal

statueandtemple.
