It offers a unique blend of individual skill and courage, combined with a powerful team format. With no brakes and ample opportunity for passing, the result has been likened to ‘gladiators on bikes’. Established in 1946, Glasgow Tigers is a fully professional organisation which competes against rival clubs from Plymouth to Newcastle in the British Premier League. The action comes fast and furious, as the team hosts its home fixtures almost every Sunday, at 3.00pm, from March to October.

At the end of 2014, Glasgow risked losing two long-standing sporting institutions. That’s why brothers Michael and Gerry Facenna – local men who own nearby Allied Vehicles – stepped in to save both the Tigers and Ashfield Juniors FC, whose stadium they shared.

Following a £1.7 million first phase investment a historic but run-down football ground has been transformed into an excellent modern venue - the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium.

The redevelopment at Ashfield has created a modern sporting venue which is the talk of British speedway. This transformation has also opened the door to new sports and learning opportunities in what is one of the most deprived areas of Glasgow. A new charity – Ashfield Development Trust – will work with local partners to provide health and activity programmes from pre-school to retirement age. These include:
