Hopefully they all
turn up to see him
play nextweek and

PENRITH supremo PhilGould says having MichaelJennings buy tickets for fanswas the best way for thesuspended star to makeamends to the people he letdown most.
Jennings handed out 2000tickets – worth an estimated$44,000 – to the Panthers’game against the Warriorsnext weekend at halftime dur-ing Friday night’s 32-18 loss tothe Wests Tigers.
He had earlier been stooddown from the match for ar-riving at training on Thurs-day under the influence of al-cohol, his second drinking-related incident this year.
‘‘I didn’t know what to dowith him,’’ Gould said.
‘‘I just found the wholeincident extraordinary andwe sat down and discussedthe damage that had beendone, both to the club andhis reputation.
‘‘(We wanted) to come upwith not so much a punish-ment, but something thatwould say sorry to those kidswho save up to come andwatch him play and theparents who save up to buya jersey with his number onthe back.
‘‘He’s a quality player andhe’s a good human being buthe’s made this slip-up.
‘‘We just thought it was agood idea for him to getaround last night and givesomething back to those kids.
‘‘Hopefully they all turn upto see him play next week andhe has a blinder.’’
Gould said he’d spoken toJennings about Sydney Roos-ters serial bad boy ToddCarney’s latest episode in anattempt to get through to him.
