How can you help, and what can we offer you? First and foremost, we are looking for support from organizations that want to help us do something that matters. Our goal is to create a space for engaged discussion and collaborative learning, which continues to garner greater understanding and connections among Ontario’s dynamic architecture community. We have been so fortunate in receiving great support from our sponsors, year over year. We need your help to make this event a reality. We can promise you exposure, access and input. Your enthusiasm and support will be a big part of our success, both in terms of attendance and momentum for the future. We look forward to welcoming you as a sponsor this year!

This sponsorship campaign is being managed by MCC – Moore Carlyle Consulting

For further information about the sponsorship opportunities available for the 2012 OAA Annual Conference, please contact: Alicia Kalozdi-MacMillan, Sponsorship Coordinator tel. 416- 621-6622 x. 401 fax. 416-621-0363 e-mail. We are open to customization in order to find the best package to suit your needs. We are also willing to consider packages which include ‘in kind’ donations for all of our attendees or in kind contributions to offset operating expenses for the conference.

Who is the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA)?

The Ontario Association of Architects is a self-regulating organization governed by the Architects Act. The Association is dedicated to promoting and increasing the knowledge, skill and proficiency of its members, and administering the Architects Act, in order that the public interest may be served and protected. Membership includes 3,034 licensed architects, 1,276 intern architects, and 766 associates (honorary, life, retired, student associates, Licensed Technologist OAA and non-practising). There are 1,423 architectural practices in Ontario. Ontario architects are highly trained professionals bound by regulations made under the Architects Act. To be licensed as an architect, an individual must gain a minimum of three years practical experience, pass extensive examinations, and attend the OAA Admission Course. Following licensure all architects must participate in a continuing education program. The annual conference is one vehicle that architects can use to obtain their required continuing education units.

The Music of Architecture – Architect as Conductor

Celebrate the symphony -- a changing environment wherein the Conductor

Architect becomes integral in the process so that every player "contributes,

builds and benefits" together.

The Conference’s musical theme will be used to introduce and renew teamwork in the building

environment. There is circadian rhythm, a chi--the circulating life force whose existence and

properties are the basis of much Chinese philosophy and medicine, financial cycle, seasonal

cycle, a celestial cycle--all based on harmonious existence; and each one impacting the

other. Consequently architects work with engineers, interior designers, building officials,

property managers, the community, bankers and owners; in order to achieve a harmonious

whole where each aspect is coordinated. The role of the Conductor Architect is to make it

happen: not to diminish any one, discipline, or interest but to ensure that the overall balance,

tempo, and agenda result in a symphony of ideas. This is reflected in Integrated Design from

functional programming, capital planning, to site planning, building design, operation and

maintenance. Unlike an orchestra, however, our ‘musical scores’ are becoming more complex

by the year; and our instruments are constantly being updated so we need to upgrade our skills

on a continual basis. The Conductor skillfully knows enough about each musician's instrument

to instruct them on how to play as an orchestra to best achieve a balanced and unified sound:

music.

Who will attend?

Total anticipated attendance this year is 1,000 participants, including:

Leaders in architecture and design

Emerging talents in architecture and design

Students entering the field

Associate members

Media

Attendees include architects (principals, associates, project architects) and interns. Architects design and produce documents that indicate how the building and interior is to be constructed, and review the actual construction to ensure quality, building code and construction budget adherence. These buildings range from churches, schools, offices and houses to prisons, to name a few and include low rise and high rise structures. The process involves many products, legalities and stakeholders. By being involved in the conference, sponsors have an opportunity to showcase their products and services to decision makers. We encourage Sponsors to support our GOING GREEN initiative “A green meeting incorporates environmental considerations to minimize its negative impact on the environment.”

- Green Meeting Industry Council

One of the ongoing initiatives for OAA Conferences is our GOING GREEN program, established in 2008, in an effort to reduce waste, encourage sound environmental practices by delegates, and heighten environmental awareness. As our society becomes more environmentally conscious, there is a need to develop appropriate, practical standards that optimize our use of finite resources. Please support us in our Going Green initiative.
