MINE 4 EXPOSURE // SPONSORSHIP PROSPECTUS
2 VANCOUVER2014.CIM.ORG
The 2014 CIM Convention will be
held in Vancouver, British Columbia,
from May 11 to 14, 2014.
Sponsorship of this esteemed event provides
value well beyond a dollar amount – it will help
you to position your brand at the forefront of an
ever-changing industry as a true leader, and
to grow your audience base within the global
mining community. CIM represents history,
growth and vision, and in aligning your brand
with our organization, your company will ensure
its prominence across a multitude of print, web
and other innovative communication channels.
2013 was a record-breaking year for CIM
Convention participation thanks, in part, to the
success of our extensive social media reach; the
potential for your brand’s visibility is substantial.
CIM draws over 6,000 mining professionals
from over 49 countries at this must-attend
annual convention of industry experts.
Three solid days of robust technical
programming, high tech Expo! exhibits,
symposia and networking opportunities
ensure superior and broad exposure to
your target audience – before, during
and after the convention.
In fact, year round! CIM continues to be
the leading society of professionals in the
Canadian minerals, metals, materials and
energy industries.
The theme of this year’s event is “MINING 4
EVERYONE”, a pertinent interpretation of the
modern mining climate. The CIM Convention
technical program is widely recognized and
features groundbreaking papers presented by
the industry’s top experts. Our Expo! unites
suppliers and decision-makers across all fields
of the industry, offering delegates and visitors
alike the opportunity to stay on the cutting
edge of recent technologies and practices. The
very successful Mining for Society (M4S) show,
the increasingly popular Women in Mining
forum and the 7th edition of our Management
and Finance Day will complete our program
of conferences, workshops and field trips.
Livestreaming of our plenary session allows us
to broadcast beyond the convention walls and
expand our reach on a global scale.
MINE 4 EXPOSURE
2013 sponsors have the exclusive first right of
refusal to rejoin our “Community for Leading
Industry Expertise” and its 2014 success.
To ensure maximum visibility for your company,
we would like to reconfirm your presence in
the coming weeks. For first-time sponsors, we
offer a variety of sponsorship options and look
forward to working with you to establish the
best package that aligns with your business
objectives.
Sponsorship opportunities are available in an
array of levels and ranges. Distinguish yourself
as a Platinum, Gold, Silver or Copper sponsor.
Become a Friend or an “À la Carte” sponsor.
Each of these opportunities will ensure the
visibility of your company’s name before,
during and long after the Convention.
We will contact you in the near future to
further discuss our sponsorship program and
how we can help your company contribute to
the success of the CIM 2014 Convention in
Vancouver.
Sincerely, JEAN VAVREK, CIM Executive Director [email protected]

BUILDING ON SOLID GROUND SINCE 1898The Institute was incorporated by an Act of the
Parliament of Canada in 1898 as the Canadian
Mining Institute. In 1920, it became the
Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy,
and in 1990, the Canadian Institute of Mining,
Metallurgy and Petroleum.
Today, CIM counts over 14,700 members, 10
technical societies and more than 38 branches
and student chapters; since 2005, our
membership has doubled. Our members, who
hail from industry, academia and government,
help to shape, lead and connect Canada’s
mining industry. Corporate and student
memberships broaden the Institute’s reach
even further and add exciting new dimensions
of expertise and interests. Although the
backgrounds of CIM members may be diverse,
they share a common goal – the sustainable
discovery, production and utilization of
minerals, metals and petroleum.
CIM maintains three key objectives for its
Annual Convention: facilitating the exchange of
knowledge and technology, fostering fraternity,
and celebrating excellence. Members and
other industry professionals value these
opportunities, as do the exhibitors, delegates,
and visitors. CIM members enjoy a sense
of community within the Canadian mining,
metals and energy industries by participating
in the various ventures of the organization.
They network and stay on top of the latest
technological innovations, thereby shaping the
entire future of the industry.
PURPOSEThe core purpose of CIM is to serve
minerals, materials and petroleum
industries and professionals around
the world.
We achieve this by:
• Being the preferred source of
knowledge and best practices.
• Facilitating learning and continuous
professional development.
• Facilitating collaboration among
all constituents.
• Providing leadership in the development
and use of industry standards.
• Promoting our industries to society.
• Recognizing excellence and
outstanding achievements.
• Providing networking opportunities.
“The success of the CIM conference and the benefit I derived from it in networking and in showing the wide range of the natural resources of Guinea has no equal.”

“The CIM Convention was well worth the price of admission. The networking opportunities were exceptional. The entire venue from the entertainment to the displays was truly a class act”
“The CIM Convention, in my opinion, is the premier mineral conference in North America. It meets the needs of the mining, oil and gas industries of governments, First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and other stakeholders who have a stake in the future development of the rich mineral-resource potential in Canada.”
“The CIM Convention is on my top-five list of worldwide mining tradeshows to attend. If you’re involved in the Canadian mining industry, don’t miss this event, because, if you can mine in Canada, you can mine anywhere in the world.”

CIM‘s highly acclaimed M4S exhibition is in its ninth year of educating the general public about mining and its impact on our daily lives. The 4 M’s stand for Mines, Minerals, Metals and Materials. This exhibition is provided free of charge to school groups as well as members of the general public. It can accommodate several visiting groups at a time and transportation assistance can be provided to schools who wish to attend but cannot afford the transportation.
M4S is also the place people come to learn about the wide variety of exciting careers in this industry. By highlighting the opportunities and dispelling the myths today, we can help secure a robust future for the industry for the generations to come. Our industry is facing a human resources shortage. Over the next decade, 100,000 jobs will need to be filled Canada-wide. Attendance to M4S has been growing every year. Feedback from both attendees and participants has been consistently and enthusiastically positive. We invite you to be a part of this exciting and rewarding venture where the public comes to learn about the positive side of mining.
