Burrtec will collect and recycle Christmas trees from single-family residences. Please place your tree at curbside during the period after Christmas (December 26, 2015 through January 8, 2016) on your collection day. Trees 6’ and over need to be cut in half. Please take all ornaments, lights, and metal stands off of the tree. Flocked trees will not be recycled. They will be collected as trash. Flocked trees 6’ and over need to be cut in half.
Residential ChristmasTree Collection
Approximately 80% of your holiday trash is recyclable. All gift boxes, wrapping paper, greeting cards, and cardboard packaging are items that may be placed in your recycling barrel. Burrtec will collect your excess holiday trash and recyclables beginning December 26, 2015 through January 2, 2016. Place excess holiday trash/recyclables in bags alongside your containers on your collection day.

Stormswithheavyrainfallmaycausedebrisflowsandmanyotherissuesinourstreets.Inordertopreventtrash and recycling carts from adding to the issuefollowtheseguidelines:
1. Beawareofstormandwindyweatherforecasts.
2. Be aware of potential stormwater flows in andaroundyourproperty.
3. Avoidplacingcartsandbulkyitemswhereflowscancreatehazards.Inswiftmovingwaters,theseitemscanfloatandrushoutintothestreet.
4. Place trashand recyclables inbagsand then incarts.Thiswillminimizespillageontocitystreets.

Winter Storm WeatherWe are now accepting cartons for recycling. This exciting addition to ourprogramsandserviceswillallowourcustomerstorecyclemore!
What are cartons?Cartonsarethepackagingformanyproductsyoucanfindatthestoreincludingmilk,juice,cream,eggsubstitutes,soymilk,soup,broth,andwine.Theycomeintwodifferenttypes—theasepticorshelfstablecartonsfoundonstoreshelvesaswellasthefamiliargable-top,refrigeratedcartons.
How do I recycle cartons?Placeemptycartonsinyourrecyclingbin.
What happens to the cartons I recycle?Cartons are sorted and baled at Burrtec’s MaterialRecoveryFacility.Thebalesofcartonsaresoldtopapermills. Here, fiber in the cartons is converted intopulp,which in turn ismade into recycledpaperproductsandbuildingmaterials.
Why should I recycle cartons?Cartonsaremademainlyfrompaper,plasticandsomealuminium.Allofwhicharerecyclable!Recyclingcartonshelpstosavethoseresources,whichisgoodforourenvironment.
