MANKIND”.

Message from the Master

The one who does not know self-peace (Atma shanti) how can he be expected to extend peace to others! Peace is primary to one’s wellbeing, and also to welfare of nations. For this individuals need to desire earnestly and pray. To have a conflicting thought frame indicates not only lack of self confidence but lack of faith in one’s potential

creative intelligence. This kind of shallow and empty heart is seen in people who do not believe in God and spiritual evolution of the Self. Having faith in one’s self means having roots in divinity. biped animal. To kindle and foment the dormant spark of divine, what needed is to associate with people who are already in the line of spiritual culture and tradition called “sat-sangh”. This habit of meeting, mixing , talking, and sharing life in the company of holy people gradually leads to mind-dissociation of thoughts ( Nissangatva), paving the way to dissolution of false delusion ( Brahma ) of oneself being the body-mind combine (Nirmoha ). And this rational perception of truth of bio-psych of the body-mind system, lends inherent stability to mind-psych (Nischala Tatva); a process leading to libration from the bonds of transmigration while alive, eulogized in scriptures as “jeevan-mukti”.

Of course, one has to observe caution in selecting people for divine company of “satsangh” in spiritual pursuit. Because, very often the religious-bigots and fanatics, are passed with the label of ‘divine’ and spiritual which is no-less suicidal. It is better not to avail the ‘satsangh’ of the so-called holy - company, as mode of spiritual assistance, if one is not sure of the bona-fide identity of moral and ethical sanctity of the holy group. This precaution is valid even in one’s own type of spiritual group. After all, human nature is frail and they themselves are seekers with weaknesses of their own and not accomplished ( Sadhaka, not sidha ) yogis.

Spiritual institutions are democratic organisations. All are welcome to think and give advice in running smoothly and effectively. So, naturally there will be difference of opinions of the members. But the differences should not lead to acrimony between the members. This can be ensured if everybody is honestly conscious, that what he is doing is in the best interest of the organisation and not for particular individual. In spirituality, leadership should not be assumed; it is an emerging phenomenon. Traditionally the Guru by choice passes on the baton to the next. For this a chosen “shishya” (Disciple) is groomed, well in advance by tutoring in various sacred spiritual and secular traditional-culture of the Ashram. organisation. This happens more often in cases where the head of the organisation passes away abruptly without making proper arrangement and the “shishyas” are more ambitious than spiritually motivated. The best mantra for adhyatmic i.e. the spiritual speedy evolution is keeping the mind at neutral point by going beyond the dualities of life. This of course, is easily said than achieved. The high yoga state of “Udaseenatha” is also called as “Nirlaptata”. In IUSCM and its Ashram this supreme pristine spiritual state is cultured through regular meditation on heart with ‘pranahuti’ as main plank of support. The quality “ Kshema” i.e. forbearance and forgiveness, is spoken of highly in oriental sacred and secular writings. In yoga it has special relevance. It acts as divine astral shield against the formation of action - reaction impressions called sanskaras that leads to the formation of the base of “Nish-kama karma” so highly spoken by Bhagavan Sri Krishna. Layavastha i.e. merging in different yoga centres indicates expansion up to that stage with relevant astro-psych power of them, bestowed on him. Expansion and yoga astral-psych power are directly related, though the abhyasi may not feel any unusual in him, except some indescribable profound silence ( Mouna ) in the depths of heart, born out of the flash mystical revelation of ‘That’ being in search. Forgetfulness, even Master’s remembrance, and names of known ones, may become common causing embracing. This is because, in advanced yoga fulfilment stages, conscience sheds particularisation as it becomes expansively subtle and subtler akin to space ( Akasha ). To understand phenomenon of life in its entirety, it is essential to examine all the phases of consciousness viz. the waking state , dream state , and sleep state, of consciousness, that constitute

the cycle of one day, the unit life of mankind. There is another phase of consciousness known as “Turiya” which is the fourth stage that completes whole-ness or the full-ness of the manifested consciousness just like 4th quarter that completes the full value of hole rupee. By and large people are not aware of this phase of consciousness unless they attained gnana of transcendental mental state of consciousness. Because, Turiya is the super-conscious phase of yoga attainment (Ref: Mandukyopanishad).

“Na Anta Pragna Na Bahi Pragna Na ubhayata Pragna

Na Pragna Ghana Na Pragna Na Pragnam Agrahyam, Alakshanam, Achintyam, Avyakrutam,

Avyavaryam, ektama pratyayasaram , Prapanchopa Samum, Santam, Sivam, Advyaitam, Cheturdham Manyantae

Sa Atma Sa Vignae Yaha. ( Ref:- Mandukyopanishad )

Meaning: “It is neither internal cognizant nor cognizant

outside; not cognizant both sides; it is not the consolidated one mass of cognizance; not the incognizant; inconceivable, unqualified, unthinkable, unperceivable, nonnegotiable; the Essence of Consciousness, underlying in all phases of Life. It is Peace, Auspicious, Non-dual, and The Fourth Atman to be realized.”

Manifestation of creational phenomenon is based on the bed-rock of Existence – Consciousness - Bliss ( Sat – Chit - Ananda ) .

Aadhara Maananda Akhanda Bodham Yasminlayam Yaati Puratrayam Cha ‘

Meaning: “He is the substratum, the Indivisible Bliss-Consciousness and in Him whom alone the Three Cities go into dissolution.” ( Ref: Kaivalyopanishad, Sl. 14)

And, all creatures in the universe derive, their existential

objectivity, from this manifesting mode of Cosmic Reality. Often, spiritual mentors by and large, both oriental and occidental, base their spiritual frame work of guidance, taking in to consideration, only the waking state of consciousness ignoring the dream and sleep states of consciousness. Of course, exceptions are there for e.g. “Mandukyopanishad” which deals the creational phenomenon of life, in entirety of three phases of waking, dream, and sleep consciousness merging in Turiya the 4th and complete whole of consciousness. But, there, the sage has not deciphered any specific frame work of approach in terms of method, technique, or process and procedure, for intuition of the indicated “That”.

The state of waking consciousness, (Jagrathavastha) is

characterized by extroversion of mind through five sensory organs and actualization of thoughts through five motor organs. The micro-impressions ( sanskaras ) from the causal body are realized as desires, and actions outside as the prarabdhakarma, to be lived. Living the life outside involving actions and activities, in-turn generates micro impressions re-stored, again on causal body, as “agamikarma” i.e. the life activities to be lived in future coming life of transmigration cycle. Thus, one gets entangled in perpetual cycle of desires and activities. The impressions of Life lived in waking state is stored in one of the mind’s functional mode called ‘chitta’ during the phases of dream, and sleep states

of consciousness. Thus, life is made solid 3 dimensional by interplay in waking state by the activities of five sensor and five motor organs. The mode of expression of man in the waking state of consciousness is through physical body constituted of bio-cells organized into five layers of :- (1) the food-sheath (Annamaya kosha) , (2) the vital sheath (Pranamaya kosha), (3) mental sheath (Manomaya kosha), (4) the intellectual sheath ( Vigananamaya kosha), (5) the bliss sheath (Ananda maya kosha ). However the irony, is that man expressing through this bio material encasement covering, has lost his real identity of Real Self, and has come to know himself as only biomaterial covering the body as ‘himself’ ‘ i ‘ the soul( Atman ). The infinite immortal Reality the Absolute, immortal Universal Self-‘I’, the Soul, has come to suffer as finite mortal self-i. Such a kind of misconception (Brahanti) in philosophical jargon is called as ‘Avidya’ ignorance.

Scriptures ( Shastras ) indicate fourfold achievements ( Purshartha ) in life viz. Dharma ( Righteous conduct), Artha ( Earning money by legitimate means ) , Kama ( Fulfilling noble and socially approved desires ) , Moksha called as “punerjenma rahitya” i.e. Making earnest efforts to get emancipated from the thralldom of transmigration cycle. All people without exception want to have happy, comfortable, and pleasant life. Nobody wants miseries and pain in life! According to Vedic concept happy life, is a consequent fruit called “Punya-phala” and miserable life is due to sin “Papa”. But, people do not perform ‘Punya’ the meritorious acts, to earn happiness; and abstain from doing sinful-acts, to avoid miserable life! How is it possible? Unfortunately a great majority of people do not know, believe, and feel this divine truth. People are busy only in doing jobs ( Dharma ), earning money ( Artha ) and fulfilling pleasure oriented desires of life ( Kama ).

Few are the persons who are really, consciously aware of the

concept of “Moksha” the release from the shackles of ‘trans-migration’ cycle. And, rare still, are people who make attempts. They only know and are satisfied, by visiting temples, doing

Page 4: Spiritual News Bulletin Jul 2010 News Bulletin - 201007 - Web.… · Brahma ) of oneself being the body-mind combine (Nirmoha ). And this rational perception of tr uth of bio-psych

pooja to the deities, (devatas), performing mostly “ Satyanarayana Vrata kalpas” through the priests (Pujari) etc. that is expected to earn them ‘punya’ to fulfill the desires. Doing punya – karma the meritorious acts of course, as indicated in Vedic-scriptures will help in getting happy comfortable life, may be now here in this life or in next future lives here, and in heaven ( Swarga ) after death. But, this life is ephemeral, painful, and transitory coming to this world again, to begin the life of birth and death transmigration.

1- “ Thri Vidya Mamam Somapaah Putha Papa Yegaynir Ishtva Swargathim Prartha Yanthae Thae Punya Masadya Surendra Lookan Ashnanthi Divyan Dhivi Dheva Bhogan” 2- “Tetam Bhuktwa Swarga Lookam Vishalam

Kshinai Punyae Marthya Lokam Vishanti Yaevam Thrayaee Dharma Anu Prapanna

Gatha Gatam Kama Kama Labhantae’ ( Ref: Bhgavad Gita-9-20- 21 ) Meaning: Those who perform Vedic scarifies as ordained in

three vedic scriptures viz; 1. Rigveda, 2. Yejurveda, and 3. Samaveda, and drink Soma juice earn “punya” the heavenly merit, after death go to Swarga, the Heaven and enjoy for very long celestial years of pleasures of life; return back after the exhaustion of “punya” to earthly abode to start painful ephemeral trans-migratory life.

In real sense moksha is understanding and firmly get – rooted

in consciousness that form the Base ( Adhara ) in life’s three conscious phases of waking ( Jagratha ), dream ( Swapna ), and sleep ( Sushupti ) with advent of wisdom of his nature of transcendental eternal-being Turiya, as infinite, un-born ever existing atman the Soul. And, this is the ‘fruit’ of yoga Sahaja- Samadhi.

The next phase of conscious-life is dream. Dream is one-

dimensional in scope. It is much more subtle, vast and pervasive.

Dream world is made of constituted energy. The dream people have energy bodies; five sensory organs that make body shapes and forms, made of energy as substance; the dream time-unit; the dream family children, dream emotions etc. In that way, all worlds are made in energy forms. As any entity becomes subtler it becomes more increasingly pervasive, and powerful. At this dream consciousness stage, things that are not either feasible or possible in waking stage could be readily made an experience as real. But one could brush it away saying “it is only a dream anyway!”. But it has its own structure of reality in terms of time-space-causation. Problem comes only when compared to other different dimension of consciousness. It is but natural. If two different entities are to be compared, it is to be done by conversion scale; for eg. The scales of Centigrade vs. Fahrenheit, or metric weight with pound etc. Likewise, the issue of waking and dream stages of consciousness is to be viewed. Phenomenon of dream gives a clue to the subtle life in celestial worlds after death. The form and shape of dream inhabitants of men and women are like that of celestial worlds of swarga the heaven or other higher abodes made of subtler, and subtler forms of energy as the plane of existential worlds go on increasing from ’Bhoor Loka to Satya Loka’ in heights of fruits of meritorious deeds (Karmaphala) as indicated by Veda (scriptures).

All worlds of creation, waking or dream, are disturbance in

mind; of different dimension wavelength projection of mind-psych in consciousness. And, this is made possible because of sanskaras the micro-impressions stored on causal sheath. For sound balanced, and creative life, phase of dream conscio-usness is as essential as waking consciousness. Problem arises when it crosses the golden mean-threshold.

Now coming to the phase of sleep consciousness “Sushupti”

it is the “Black-hole” on the firmament of “Consciousness-Space” called as “Chidakash”. Micro-cosmically i.e. individually, in sushupti all stages of consciousness come to dissolve. The

Page 5: Spiritual News Bulletin Jul 2010 News Bulletin - 201007 - Web.… · Brahma ) of oneself being the body-mind combine (Nirmoha ). And this rational perception of tr uth of bio-psych

waking and dream are ego projections of mind-psych in consciousness. In sleep (sushupti) the projections of mind-psych dissolve, and so ego notion disintegrates. The joys and sorrows ends. Likewise the dualities of mind which is womb of creational process become neutral. There is no mind. However, a subtle-ray of mind called as “chitta” gets merged in Atman the Soul. That is why one could say” I slept happily”, but asserts that “ I am not aware that you have come; because I was sleeping”. These two kinds of different versions of statement at one and the same time, denote ( a ) absence of mind ( b ) and soul actualization the “atma-anubhava” in sushupti ( Ref: “Mandukyopanishad” ).

Thus, Sushupti – sleep is the mother womb of creational process involving comprehensive-whole of three phases of consciousness and their respective personalities.

However, out of these three phases of life - consciousness, waking stage is the only one, that is merited by Vedic scriptures, as suitable instrument to work out for emancipation and liberation (Jeevan Mukti) from the thralldom of transmigration cycles of birth and death. And, that is why even the Gods (devatas) are compelled to come down to terrestrial abode earth, take birth as ordinary human beings, and do penance ( Tapasya ) as per the Vedic scripture instructional directive to get the emancipation. Sahaja Marga raja yoga meditation as enunciated by Samartha Sad Guru Shri. Ram Chandra Maharaj ( Shri Babuji Maharaj ) with the support of ‘ Pranahuti’ is most highly suited procedural method to workout liberation, the jeevan-moksha in this very life at one instance.

All are welcome to IUSCM and it’s “Sahaja Marga Raja Yoga Gruhastha Ashram” ( SMRYDGA ); it can help you. Swamiji

“Practice the above mentioned process of locating Atman, your True-SELF and, report to Swamiji, if you could experience?” There are many places in the bulletin itself the answer lies for the practice for realising the true self. Sd \ xx xx xx, ( RAM CHANDRA ) ( 3 ) UPANISHADS AT A GLANCE, By: Shri. Govinda Sami President IUSCM – Oceania Pacific Region, Sydney (AU.)

In these series of short discourses, the intention is to skim

through the Upanishads in order to create interest among genuine aspirants of Truth. There are about 108 Upanishads which can be trace backed after many of them permanently lost where some of them translated by both eastern and western commentators into various languages. However, only a selected few will be discussed in our subsequent satsangs to provide an overview of the spiritual wisdom hidden in the Upanishads.

Rishis from time immemorial have spent their time in deep meditation trying to know their own true nature and that of the Divine. They lived very simple life with no ulterior motives of building large organizations to gain name, fame, wealth and power. Genuine spiritual seekers who have already reached the peak of their mind and who have conquered the fear of death seek the help of Rishis in order to merge into the unknown. Aspirants are made to look through the inner eye of intuitive wisdom and have a glimpse of the immeasurable unknown. The aspirants are encouraged to find out for themselves on how to merge into oneness, which is the Transcendental State and Truth. The teachings of these Rishis are in the form of a dialogue between the Rishi and the aspirant, generally in the form of questions and answers. Sitting with such Rishis are experiences of a life time. The invisible aura of the Rishi includes the aspirant within it’s ambit. The intermingling of the auras and transmission of spiritual vibrant raises the level of consciousness in the aspirants to the Transcendental State, however the flight into the unknown has to be taken by the aspirants by themselves. Spiritual life begins when one is able to silence his mind and doors of the mind are open to accommodate the flow of spiritual

knowledge from above. Rishis never descended to lower levels of consciousness. By sitting with such rishis the higher nature of the Rishi unites with the Lower nature of the aspirant thus lifting the level of consciousness of the aspirants. These liberated souls of the Rishis after discarding their physical body, continue their existence in the transcendental planes, directing their spiritual energies to the world. Their medium of communication with the external world is the silent mind. Their consciousness does not descend below the region of silent mind. The beneficiaries are only those aspirants with higher level of consciousness. The Rishis are eagerly waiting to communicate with suitable channels for the flow of spiritual energy but they will only communicate those with a silent mind. Swamiji repeatedly writes in our IUSCM bulletins about the transmission from the Master. With a silent mind only it is feasible to attain this spiritual wisdom from the Master. Swamiji has already experienced the Ultimate Truth and he is our Guru /Rishi. Remember a live Guru is better than a dead book. Dear Swamiji, Please find introduction for new abhyasi Suba.

My name is Suba, and I was born in a city in Tamil Nadu named Thiruchinapalli (I think this is how it’s spelt) on 16th October 1977. After spending the first 4 years of my life in India, my family moved to Mombassa, Kenya, where I spent 10 very happy years of my life.

I am rather confused about the origins of my spiritual journey. I can never seem to pin point the start of my journey. Each time I think back to ‘The Beginning’, I always find an earlier point in my life which could potentially be the genesis of my spiritual journey. As a result, I have decided now that my spiritual journey started the day and moment I was born. Why this time? Because on the day I was born, the world was celebrating the third day of Durga Pooja during the festival Navrathri. And if celebrations today are a reflection of what they were then, it would be safe to say that Durga Pooja was being performed at the time of my birth.

Although I have memories of my life as early as the age of 2, the second significant event in my life was before I can remember. As a baby who had just learnt to walk, I had once followed my aunty to the market, unbeknownst to anyone else at home then. As I could not keep up with her, I got lost in the crowds. It was a while before anyone at home noticed my absence. When they did, my father and other family members frantically searched the neighbourhood for the lost little girl. After many hours of searching, in a panic, my father went to a Devi Mandir of Karumariamman and prayed that he find me safe and sound. He vowed that were I found safe and sound, he would never doubt in the existence of God. This is significant because this was a turning point for my father. Many years prior, my father had vowed never to set foot in a temple or pray, or believe in the existence of God. The story, as told by my aunties and uncles today, within a space of two hours from this time, a woman carrying a basket of neem branches and leaves walked up to my father and enquired about the state of his panic. When informed, the woman with the basket then told my father that, 2 hours

before, she had seen a girl child crying under the big tree in the same temple my father had been at. When he got there, I was fast asleep under the tree. My father has been religious ever since for the vow he made at the temple. This became significant for me as this gave me a sense of being a child close to God’s heart during the early part of my conscious spiritual journey in my early 20s.

Now, moving on, in my early childhood in Mombassa, I grew up reading tales of the Ramayan and Mahabarath as written by Amar Chitra Katha, and tales of the various deities. Parallel, I also grew up reading and learning the Bible at school as I studied in a Catholic convent. I had the fortune of being able to know 2 religions intimately as I would go to both temples and churches with the same sense of love for both. My favourite pass time while waiting the long hour to be picked up from school was to read and reread all the verses in the Bible. I loved attending Mass at school as much as I loved visiting the Shiv and ISKON temples in Mombassa.

I turned 14 just 4 days after first setting foot on the soils of Sydney, A new life, new world, new friends. The transition from primary school to high school, from my formative years to my teens, had its trials and tribulations. I was always more shying, naive and serious than your average Australian teenager. I was 15 when I first decided to become vegetarian for a year for religious reasons. I did not understand the significance of this decision, and did it purely on blind faith. This was then a choice I have kept in place since.

The ages 16 to 19 were my most trying years, where I, like my father before me, decided that I was never going to set foot in a temple, or ever pray again? Between the troubled relationship between my parents and school and facing the trials and tribulations of a normal teenager, I had decided that I was not loved by God, and that to pray was bad luck for me because my parents always seemed to fight only when I went to the temple, or when I prayed. So for the next 3yrs of my life, I stayed away from temples, family and friends’ religious celebrations, and prayers. I had yet to discover the differences between God,

Spirituality and Religion. I however had the experience of dreams that seemed to predict future events. I did not recognise this for what it was at this time. Only noted how ‘weird’ it was that I dreamt about this a significant time before the event.

The next part of my spiritual journey began at the age of 18, when I finished high school and started university, my parents bought a small milk bar business, and we moved home. A few weeks before we moved homes, I had started having repetitive nightmares of snakes, and being chased by snakes. The nightmares only got worse. They started occurring every night and I was afraid to the point where I could not sleep alone some nights. The nightmares only got worse when we moved house. I began to be afraid of dark corners and spaces I could not see in broad daylight. I was afraid to be alone in rooms at times. My nightmares took on another worldly essence. I would see faces looking in my window out of the corner of my eye when I was awake, but would not be there when I turned around. I was afraid to sleep without the lights on. I was afraid to sleep alone. I was afraid to sleep. One time, I awoke from a nightmare terrified and cold. I was awake for a good 20mins before I managed to calm myself down with logic and went back to sleep. The nightmare continued from where I had awoken. This continued for a good year and a half. I had not shared the details of the faces, or my nightmares with anyone. My parents only knew that I had nightmares of snakes, and that I was afraid to sleep alone. I could not bring myself to share the details with anyone.

At the age of 19, a friend of mine pulled me aside one day. She started talking about my experiences in the house we lived in. About the faces and my nightmares, I was amazed as there was no way she could have known about them. She went on to tell me about how there were 2 trapped souls in the house we were in, one an adult and one a child, and the reason I was the only one experiencing what I was because I was the most vulnerable of all my family. This rung true. I had experienced the sense of other presences at times when I was alone. She introduced me to my first Mantra that I learnt, and gave specific instructions on how perform prayers and burn incense in the

house we lived in to reduce the effects of this. I took her advice, performed Poojas, fasted and burnt incense. I fasted for Durga to give me strength. My nightmares of snakes began to subside. They now turned to dreams. At significant intervals, I dreamt detailed dreams of spiritual significance. Dreams whose details I remember 13yrs later. I did not know why I chose Durga, or why she of all the deities appealed to me the most. I was 21 when it finally made sense, as this was when I discovered the information about the day and time I was born.

My religious journey lasted to the age of 23. This was when I went to India for the first time in 14yrs, and went on a personal pilgrimage of temples in South India. What I saw rattled the strength of my belief in the purity of religion. What I saw was not the vision of piety or purity that I had held for so long. I was faced with the corrupt, profiteering and materialistic aspect of religion. Thus began my disillusionment of religion, and my quest into spirituality.

My quest first led me to the steps of the Brahma Kumaris Rajayoga. This was the catalyst that redirected my focus and understanding from religion to spirituality. I learnt the open eye meditation here from the teachers in Sydney. This journey lasted for about 1yr. My mind began to expand, and my knowledge grew.

My next teacher came in the form of a close friend of mine, Shai. This part of my life is where the second most significant self growth occurred. Shai taught me basic Pranayam techniques, followed by chanting of the Aum in meditation. Conversations I had with Shai and his wife Rashmi, and the limited practice of the meditations with them taught me the foundations that were enough for me to run with and grow from. After about 6months of regular meditation on my own after that, I had my first experience validating the growth of my spiritual self. Although I did not know what it was at the time, I now know I had the experience of opening of the third eye chakra. The visual I had in the meditation was that of 2 snakes travelling a path. They travel towards each other. At the point where their heads met, there was a burst of an incredibly beautiful and brilliant mix of

pink and white light emanating. I say this is significant because after this event is where my understanding of the world I lived in shifted. I saw the world through different eyes, experienced adversities in a different energy.

About 6months after this experience was when I met my ex-husband. I was distracted from my spiritual journey at this stage (I question if I ever stopped though because I now believe the human experience is also a spiritual experience, as each experience serves to teach us something about the nature of us). My ex-husband belongs to other religion, and was afraid of offending him with the Hindu significance of Aum. During the tumultuous 10months of my marriage, I chose to do an online Reiki course. It was nearly a year since I had meditated. During the study of this 12week course, I had the experience of the opening of my Crown Chakra. It was not during a meditation, but in the journey of a dream where I saw the illness of my mother. I did not know at the time that this dream was a prediction of what was to be 7months later (3months after my separation from my ex-husband). I began to recognise energy and vibrations of energy at this stage.

I took another break from my meditations during the last 3 months of my troubled marriage in 2006. Since then, I had my marriage ended and my mother fall severely ill. She has never quite recovered since then, and the roles of parent and child now reversed. I have changed careers since then, and went through life in a state of disconnectedness. It was not until October 2008 that I embarked on the next part of my journey. I had a desire to grow spiritually, and also look into embarking on a study of healing. I came across the Darlius Energy Healing modality. This has been the greatest part of my journey. I have never been this passionate about learning, and about growing in my spiritual path. This has expanded my understanding of the human and the spiritual journeys, and the relationship between the two in ways I only contemplated before, but had no experiencial understanding of. I have finally found my passion. The soul knowing that every experience in my life was what it was had only served to lead me to where I am now. I now know and understand a world beyond

the human journey. This is something I am still learning, and will continue to do so for as long as the teacher will teach me.

Earlier this year, Renu aunty introduced me to Asish, who now teaches a new form of meditation. I find my experiences in the spiritual world only growing now, and I am now exactly where I want to be in this moment in my journey. I look forward to growing in positive energy, to love beyond fear and desire for this to be last leg of my human experience. Love always Suba From: Swamiji Dear Dr. VGK. Rao Ashirwad

This has reference to your letter dated 8th June-2010. Your suggestion to include in the editorial column of spiritual news bulletin of July-2010 issue certain factors of modern life styles indicated by you, that affect the waking state of consciousness at the cost of other two stages conscious life viz. dream, and sleep states of the life, is good. But then, those factors largely are social, religious, and cultural affecting the person’s way of living in societal milieu. Spirituality is not a social reforming phenomenon, and goes beyond social, cultural, moral and ethical boundaries conscious life. From: Gopala Krishna Rao; 8 June, 2010 a.Pujya Swamiji, Pranam. The Editorial on 'The Personality Analysis ,the Holistic Approach,' enlightens the three stages of Consciousness indicating the need to understand the Personality in three dimensions. Readers get the understanding that the waking consciousness is only one phase and the other two ,the dream stage, which reflects the day to day life and beyond, and also serves as gateway to Sleep consciousness. Whereas the sleep consciousness which is more divine in nature also forms part of holistic personality. This stage is more mysterious and beyond the grasp of common man. Most important is all dimensions pass

through on a base, Kutastha, every day in the life of an individual. The Editorial is suitable for SNB though Swamiji already touched some of these aspects in earlier writings in the journal. Swamiji may consider covering the imbalance of dimensions in the present lifestyles.

That is, people are attached / addicted to mass media, entertainment etc. that extends the duration of waking stage further adding imposed creations through serials, cinemas etc., This happens on the cost of other two dimensions, dream and sleep. Swamiji may enlighten the consequences on physical, psychological and spiritual aspects indicating the need for balanced living. The Rigveda reference quoted by you, in internalising the Atman, as suggested by Swamiji in Spiritual News Bulletin of May-2010, is quite apt; all compliments.

However, the sage as obvious, of Rigveda, has not spelled out any specific approach to realise the concept of immutability, the kutasthatma, the immutable-Self, called also as Akshra. Where as IUSCM, spells out the technique, method, and the process and procedure of sublimating and trans-mutating parochial ego of waking consciousness, into transcendental consciousness, leading to Universal SELF Consciousness the very mode of Cosmic Consciousness, paving way to Godly Consciousness which is the very emanate of Kutastha-Atma , the immutable Self .

There are two components of personality viz. the Infinite, immutable, immortal Self,( Ananta,Kutastha-Akshra pursha ). And, the other one, finite, mutable ever changing, parochial ego-self called as kshera-pursha. The immutable Self is called as ‘ Purshothama’ as indicated by Bhagavan Srikrishna in 15th

chapter of Gita. The immutable Self - Kutastatma, forms the Base constituted of Existence – consciousness - bliss ( Sat-chit-Ananada) “Adhra - Ananda - Akhanda-Bodha , yasmin laya Purathryancha” ) on which three phases of consciousness viz. waking state, dream state, and sleep states of consciousness of physical, astral, and causal bodies respectively, move one after the other, to form the day-cycle of ephemeral subject- object- predicate oriented conscious Being, the “Thriputy” of life. Dated-13-11-2003 Dear Dr. Sangle Sahab Ashirwad. The last communication from you is the Deepavali greetings card.

• Three letters dated 22nd, 27th and 30th were sent in October. Hope, by the grace of Master you are keeping in good health.

• A yogi’s condition is like the pain and misery experienced when the suppression of breath takes place.

• One generally becomes conscious of the respiration, when the breath is suppressed; otherwise they go on automatically without any conscious efforts.

• So also a yogi established in sahaja samadhi. His state is the very consciousness IT SELF without any interruption- a condition of automatic remembrance.

• And, it becomes painful aware in mental physical form, when interrupted, just like when respirations are forcibly suppressed.

• Engaging oneself in Master’s work keeps hie conscience absorbed in Master, and experience aesthetic pleasure, contentment, spiritual solace.

• All religious faiths as mode expresses the Supreme through the relational attributes.

• The praises, the kirtanas, songs and poems, the descriptions of events, actions, of all avataras, and great God men, all try to locate the Supreme in relational terms of qualities and acts of supra natural nature.

• these are only points of reference to be content. • It is only Sahajamarga system of raja yoga method goes

directly by meditation on heart to the core of content of Reality.

• It is only the method that lays down the chart directly to the Absolute Reality Parabrahman devoid of qualities and attributes that form the points of reference to other ways and methods of approach.

(Written by Munshi Chimanlal Saheb, the guru bhai ( disciple of the same Guru) of Shri Lalaji Maharaj has written a “ Homage to the Guru” Huzur Kibla Fazal Ahmad Khan Saheb.

Oh my merciful guru, how can I sing praises of thee? My tongue is impure, how would thy name I take?

My mind is entangled in this world, how do I gift of it you? Wealth and material are illusionary, how am I to sacrifice them?

I am caught in the mire of the ocean called world, how can I to think of thee?

How am I to sacrifice my body, which is full of impurities? Can I get uplifted by just giving my wealth and mind to thee? I express my faith and remembrance and surrender unto you.

Depressed am I, Thou art the savior of the fallen. I am caught in the web of the world, God please lift me up.

Hold my hands and make me cross the ocean of life. Whoever surrendered unto you were all saved.

I am a beggar before you, whom else can I seek? I am poor, you are the lord, I am worst, and you are my God.

I am orphan; thou art the lord of all. Father, Mother, Brother, Wife, none will go with us.

In the sin - filled hell, none would give a helping hand. I have no other place to go, thou art my only shelter

Please help me cross this ocean; I have none other than thee. ( Ref: The complete works of Ram Chandra Maharaj ( Sri. Lalaji Maharaj ) Vol. 2 p. 130-131, SRCM Pub. Chennai-18, India ) (2) By Samartha Sad Guru Shri. Rama Chandra Maharaj ( Shri. Babuji Maharaj )

“ We generally take the heart for meditation. The heart is

the pumping station of the blood. It sends out blood, after purification, to different nerves and cells of the body. Now we have taken heart as the centre of meditation. The blood that runs throughout our system is affected. The solidity due to out own thoughts and actions begins to melt away. This is the first thing we begin to gain from the first day by this method of meditation on heart. People may ask why it is necessary to proceed with meditation at the first stage of Rajyoga. The answer is quite plain and simple. We are now gathering ourselves at one point so that our individual mind may leave its habit of wandering about, which it has formed. By this practice we set our individual mind on the right path because it is now metamorphosing its habit. When this is done our thoughts naturally do not go astray. It is a Hindu

belief and a correct one too, that when we first came into being we were complete, and we were all in close touch with the Almighty. As time went on, degeneration sets in with the result that we now find ourselves in the lower stratum of humanity. Who created these things within us in the first place? It is only we and nobody else. It is we who have undermined ourselves; it is we who have wrought this havoc within us, making thereby a net-work interwoven by the fibers of our wrong and vicious thoughts. Now we want to go back through downward motion to the condition from which we have come down. We use our central force at one point just as Almighty did when He created the world by issuing forth the powers of creation from just beneath the Centre through the force of His WILL in different forms and colors like the fibers of the net, to complete the creation. It was one with Him when there was no creation. He has been at His Centre and shall be there when the things come down, will go back in Him or on the original point called the Centre (as explained later in the book). We began to weave our own fibers of different hues and colours and we are all the time with them. Now we want to return to our own centre.”

(3) Letter from Saint Kasturiji, Lakhimpur Dated 9-12-1949 (Ref: Anant Yatra Vol.1: P. 82- 84 ) Revered Shri Babuji Sadar Pranam!

Received your kind letter. It was a pleasure to go through it. Seeing your kindness, that you showed to the eldest sister, it is my prayer to that “All Merciful master” that He remain extremely as kind to all sundry as He showered grace on the eldest sister. And, what a simple way has been found in our Mission by your kindness for the heart-patients!

You have written that so far as possible, one should not be negligent about the ‘Remembrance of Master’. Please trust me that so far as humanly possible by me, His remembrance will always remain present some-how. That day I had written to you that ’ It seemed as if the eyes have been opened within me’. I did not understand or experience as to what had happened. But I do believe that those, who had taken the sitting that day, were greatly benefited by it. You have enquired about my state of sleeping. I had the feeling of remaining awake during my sleep for six or seven days before leaving for Shahajahanpur and after returning from there; but now I enjoy such a sound sleep, totally engrossed in Master’s kindness that I get awake after five or six hours. I perhaps, never slept before for such a long time continuously. It is true word by word that ‘liberation’ is not possible by any other method except that is prescribed in our Mission.

I have started to do ‘work’ that has been allotted to me by the very method as you have written and I am also starting today somewhat the work of destroying the ‘plot’; but please write also the proper way of doing that, if you may think proper. Revered Shri Swamiji has written that, “But this thing prevailing throughout India”. That day when I had seen that thing on ‘P’ exactly the very thing appeared more red than that repeatedly in the whole of India the very day, but I did not mind it taking it as my whim. Please excuse me, I will remain more cautious and attentive in future. After conveying my Sadar Pranam to Shri Swamiji, please tell Him that, this heart would have been cowered but you also now as to which ‘Power’ it belongs now. No one will get the heart as and when required. It is my Endeavour and prayers to the Master that this poor humble being may not commit such a mistake that may injure my Master. Although, I am not afraid of the punishment, but I would not able to bear the injury to the Master’s heart. I have firm faith that it will never happen. Swamiji says “ He has fatherly relations with you. But I I have yet no peace. Still much is to be done. My Master knows full well as to what sort of love, I want from Him, and how I myself want to love the Master. And it is my firm determination that I will certainly

succeed in doing it someday. Yes, it is certain; it will not produce any hindrance in doing the work of the Master. The more the Master be praised the less it is. His praise is beyond the words. Revered Shri Babuji, the stages of ‘Self surrender’ that you have written are matchless. What may I further say you are matchless and hence why each and every word that comes out from your auspicious mouth may not be like it? But Shri Babuji I am so ignorant that I do not understand any other word except ‘One’. My condition these days is like that of ‘gur’ of the dumb person. It is very good. God knows why I sometimes feel inclined to give you a sitting; and when I give the sitting, my condition becomes so good as I never feel when I myself sit in meditation. Mostly the condition becomes quite calm. Neither any thought neither comes throughout the whole day nor is any other thing seemingly felt.

Mother conveys her blessings to you and asks you to remember her sometimes. Your humble daughter, Kasturi (4) Ref: KAIVALYOPANISHAD Chinmaya Pub. Trust, Rassappa Street Madras-3, India

“ A paani Paadoham Achintyasaktih Pasyaam Achakshuh Srunom Yakarnah

Aham Vijaanami Vivkta Roopo Na Chaasti Vettha Mamma Chit Sadaaham”

Meaning: “I am without hands and legs, of income-prehensible power. I see without eyes, and hear without ears. Devoid of all forms, knowing everything, and there is none that knows Me. I am ever Pure Knowledge.”

Explanation: Here, the hands and legs are the representatives of five motor organs i.e. instruments of action with which one expresses his responses to the world outside as ordained by the action-reaction micro impressions called the “sanskaras” stored on the causal body of the mind. When it is said that Truth has no hands and legs, it only means that Truth is

the power that functions in the hands and legs but Itself has no hand and legs; it is just as to say that “electricity has no bulbs”. Pure consciousness is the Truth of life that functions in all living hands and legs. This Truth is incomprehensible because it is the very life-power working in the intellect as intelligence. It is the seer in the eyes; it is the hearer in the ears; and so like that in all sense and motor organs of the body, that acts as instrumental channels for the flow of consciousness, the Truth of life. It is the Subject in all beings aware of as “ I — I — I “ ( Aham—Aham---Aham ), the Universal SELF Consciousness and the Immutable Pure Knowledge Base (Kutasha-Adhara-Achalah)

“Now, integral to above schematic explanation of functional mechanism of Maya, following are the questions to be looked in to about mechanism of Maya.

1. What about external stimuli from objects received as perceptions – how could it be explained?

2. Can mind create and trans-project as outside objects? 3. But, how other people also see the same outside objects

and react differently? 4. Life and objective experiences are felt as permanent and

true ( Nitya- Satya ). How? Explanation: 1. The perceptions of so called external objects are notional in as much as, there is no such object independent of conscious mind ( CM ) and its cognition ( Bruhdaranya Upanishad-4-3-21 ). The shape and structure of the external object is nothing but constructed image of idea of CM. induced from the micro impressions embedded on causal body trans-projected on Reality that acts externally as immutable, celestial screen to ever mutating universe of objects. Thus, universe ( Vishvam ) is nothing but Brahman ( At. B. 62, 64,Mu.Up. 2-1-10 )

Page 16: Spiritual News Bulletin Jul 2010 News Bulletin - 201007 - Web.… · Brahma ) of oneself being the body-mind combine (Nirmoha ). And this rational perception of tr uth of bio-psych

2. Yes. Mind can create and trans-project as outside objects. 3. Perceptions of objects and imaging as name and form is a differential function of CM. based on orientation or induction in a given field of observation and interaction

a. the process of inductive orientation of the CM.; starts at an early stage of infancy in a given social-cultural milieu, enabling the member induce similar images trans-projected and re-seen as the same. Professionalism is based on this observation. Specialization in a profession is a process of inducing a set of images and building relevant stock or reservoir of primary and secondary micro- impressions particular to that group of persons. Therefore,

b. Perceptions are not homogeneous. Cognition is nothing but animating the image or idea induced upon CM. by perception, expressed as name.

4. Life and experiences appear as permanent and true ( Nitya - Satya ) due to:

• The effect of serialization and repetition of events, thoughts, and perceptions.

• Rotational movement of earth and consequence of day and night series is the main factor of delusion. It seems to affect DFV. Of CM. in producing EuTV of MNR.

• The SpnMv in Macro – cosmic Mind (Creator God) creates and imparts rotational movement to cosmic bodies including earth. However, in microcosmic mind it is tampered and influenced by DFV. Because of nescience ( Avidya ) and subjects the transactional soul to delusion and binds him through “ Vasanas”.

• The nascent creative impulse (Sankalpa) in consciousness- space of Reality ( as SpnMV in Macro cosmic mind ) imparts rotational movement to all objects, from primary particles to celestial bodies. This induces image or form, the shape of the object in CM.

• Mutual – transposition ( Anyonya - Adhyasa ), of soul’s ( Atman ) innate manifesting nature of Existence – Consciousness – Bliss on Ego, and Ego’s ephemeral

nature of pleasures and pain on Soul is essentially responsible for inducing the notional Reality and Truth of the experiences ( APB.87.- V-PD- 6-192 ). Such phenomenon happens because of persistent mutability of intellectual sheath ( Vigyana maya kosha ), affecting the stability of Atman, forming Ego shadow, reflected in it’s medium, just as sun reflected on water surface suffers the splash in a pool of water.

(6) Swamiji: Balancing and neutralizing the effects of dualities of mind – psych ( Dwandatetha ) advents to collapse of “THE TIME” as a conceptual notion ushering subjective Eternity. The Time is the empty consciousness space between two thought-waves. During sahaja samadhi there are no thought waves in the mind. Time ceases. Death is conquered. It is Eternal Infinite Immortality. Scriptures name It as Bhooma.
