design?

Dissatisfied with life?

Tedium, boredom, general laziness.
Sound familiar? Let’s talk.
ACEDIA: SPIRITUAL APATHY
Date: Sunday, November 23, 2014
Time: 9:00 a.m. OR 11:00 a.m.
Facilitator: Susan Moore
Acedia is “a state of listlessness or torpor, of not
caring or not being concerned with one's position
or condition in the world. It can lead to a state of
being unable to perform one’s duties in life; a state
of restlessness and inability either to work or to
pray.” Some see it as the precursor to sloth – a
lack of attention to daily tasks and an overall
dissatisfaction with life. The best-known of the
psychological signs of acedia is tedium, boredom
or general laziness. Does this describe you or
someone you know? Let’s talk about it.
HEAVEN

Day/Time: Sundays | 9:00 a.m.
Facilitator: Sandra Day
What is heaven really going to be like? What will
we do? Will it get boring? After 25 years of

Leadership Course WINNING WITH PEOPLE
Dates: January 18 — February 8, 2015
Day/Time: Sundays | 9:00 a.m.
Facilitator: Garry Nickel
Relationships are at the heart of every
positive human experience. John
Maxwell, a master communicator and
relational expert, makes learning about
relationships accessible to everyone.
The most sophisticated leaders will pick
up on skills that will make them even
better, and relational novices will learn
skills that can transform them into
relational dynamos.
SUNDAY LEARNING COMMUNITIES
Excerpt: Winning with People By John C. Maxwell
Have you ever found yourself dealing with
someone difficult and thought, She’s talented,
but she sure is hard to work with, or He’s brilliant,
but he doesn’t
seem to get
along with
anybody? Such
people never
reach their full
potential because
they are able to
accomplish only
a fraction of what
they could if they
knew how to win
with people. They don’t understand that good
relationships are more than just the icing on the
cake in life. They are the cake - the very
substance we need to live a successful and
fulfilling life.
So what are people to do if they don’t possess
great relational skills? I must admit, relationship
building comes naturally to me. I was born a
people person. But I’ve also worked hard to
improve my skills. I’ve learned a lot of things
about others and myself in half a century. And
I’ve translated those ideas into twenty-five People
Principles that anyone can learn. The most
introverted individual can learn them and become
more of a people person. And someone with a
knack for people can become a master
relationship builder.
I say that because these People Principles work
every time. They apply whether you are young or
old, sanguine or melancholic, male or female,
employed or retired.
These People Principles
work every time. They apply
whether you are young or

female, employed or
retired.

Day/Time: Sundays | 9:00 a.m.
Facilitator: Charlie Lucking
Apologist Andy Bannister travels across three
countries, talking to people of all faiths (and none) in
search of clarity for the “big” questions such as:
Is there a God? If so…why is there evil and suffering?
There are thousands of religions: which one is true?
Can we take the Bible seriously or is it just a myth?
BONHOEFFER
Dates: February 22 – March 15, 2015
Day/Time: Sundays | 11:00 a.m.
Facilitator: Yuri Hooker & Susan Moore
Eric Metaxas hosts a four-week DVD study filmed in
Germany. Pulling themes from all of Bonhoeffer’s
major works, Metaxas helps us understand why these
truths meant so much to Bonhoeffer during World
War II and how they can challenge our faith today.
Sessions include:
What is the Church?
Life Together
God says Yes/Cheap Grace
Religionless Christianity
LOVE DOES
An Incredible Life in an Ordinary World
Dates: April 12 — May 10, 2015
Day/Time: Sundays | 9:00 a.m.
Facilitators: Sandra Day
In Love Does, a five-session, video-based study, you
will discover the whimsy of author Bob Goff through a
humorous, thought-provoking, meaningful lesson that
makes faith in God simple and real. Goff is delightfully
engaging and winsome. What fuels his impact? Love.
But it’s not the kind of love that stops at thoughts and
feelings. Goff’s love takes action, just like Jesus did.
Goff believes Love Does. When Love Does, life gets
interesting. Light and fun, unique and profound, the
lessons drawn from Goff’s life and attitude just might
inspire you to be secretly incredible too.

My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear
attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes,
if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding,
if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
