Weekly Bulletin Issue 102. May 15 th 2014 Meet Mary Queen of Scots If you want a really unusual and atmospheric evening, come and join us next Thursday in the Great Hall of Tutbury Castle. We’ll enjoy a sociable supper before entering the court of Mary Queen of Scots who will be brilliantly recreated by TV historian (and Spice legend!) Lesley Smith. We get very few exclusive dates with Lesley these days, so don’t delay - click HERE A tribute to a life well Lived Last year, Claire made contact with an inspiring teenager who had become an internet phenomenon in her town of Burntwood for his courage, spirit of adventure and aim to raise £10,000 for charity. She suggested he come and talk to Spice at one of our “Inspirational Suppers” evenings and he readily agreed. Sadly time was already running out for him and this was never to make it to our programme. The boy’s name was Stephen Sutton and by now we have all heard his story. His legacy in fact included raising over 3 million pounds (and rising!) for The Teenage Cancer Trust. Also a Facebook blog that inspired many to overcome challenge and make the very best of every moment we are on this planet. Our member Maria Tucker (the speaker at our next Inspirational Supper) worked with Stephen at her recent “Laughathon” where he helped them set a Guinness World Record (and laugh a lot!). Upon his death yesterday, Stephens mother said “My heart is bursting with pride but breaking with pain for my courageous, selfless, inspirational son”. A reminder, if ever there was one, that it’s not the number of breaths you take that defines you - but those achievements and experiences that take your breath away! A tribute to
a life well Lived Last year, Claire made contact with an inspiring
