SPI SheetMetal Inventor

Since always, SPI SheetMetal Inventor supports the processing of sheet metal parts with forming tools. However so far with a logical constraint: only the forming tools supplied with the SPI Tool Management could be applied to the sheet metal part to be processed. With the new version for Autodesk® Inventor 2017 that's the past now...

Learning Tool Recognition

With the "Learning Tool Recognition" tool data can be permanently assigned to a fixed tool geometry. In this way, the SPI software can learn the geome-try of a transformation, their manufac-turing information and positioning. To do this, open a sheet metal part with an "unknown" tool. (Non-identifiable transformations are classified as un-known forming geometrie.) By using the new Learning Tool Recognition it is possible to assign persistent tool data to a solid tool sha-pe. Just open a sheet metal part with an "unknown" tool and start the com-mand Learn (1). Afterwards, you just need to select the tool and define the positioning as well as the manufactu-ring information for this tool. From now on, SPI SheetMe-tal Inventor will automatically detect all production-relevant information if such a tool is used in another sheet metal part or assembly (2). The previ-ously requested individual treatment with a "Production information attri-bute" becomes obsolete.

What's New 2017?

In the preview of the command "learn tool recognition" the learned and recognized transformations are marked.

New Material Management: SheetMetal Data Editor

With the help of the new SPI SheetMetal Data Editor the tech-nology data are defined depending on material and tools respec-tively tool groups (3). The manner of the shortening, that is to be determined in the calculation of the flat pattern, is defined by setting appropriate parameters. Used formulas and tables are also maintained in the SheetMetal Data Editor.

Enhanced Tool editor

With 2017 comes Special forming - a new forming tool type in the SPI Tool Editor, for all tools that are unclassifiable as a parametric tool class. This can be associated e.g. when using the "Learning tool recognition".

Enhanced Tool Draw Mode

If the Tool Draw Mode is set to Contour the tool recognition is ac-tive now during the unfolding process. The contours of recognized tools continue to be added to the unfolding, but with the line pro-perties of Manufacturing Contour (previously usually Inner Error Lines). The Tool Draw Mode No Detection was introduced.

Reliefs

Laser Flex reliefs have been improved.

Manufactuiring information

In the manufacturing information attribute a text is no longer required. Manufacturing information texts to assign to contours may come from a text file to be available for selection by the user. The replacement of manufacturing information was enhanced by an oblong, a hexagon and a center mark. Manufacturing infor-mation attributes will now be supported when unfolding a face. You can use the manufacturing information attribute also for con-tours including segments which are neither a line nor an arc.

Please also contact us for more information about the SPI CAD Viewer which is available soon!

Enhanced unfolding

Drawing of tool contours or contours with manufacturing infor-mation into the unfolding was improved. The orientation of sym-metrical tools in an unfolding will be the same.

Start edge determined automatically

When unfolding the components with material data in an assem-bly the start edge will be determined automatically if not fixed already.

In the new SPI SheetMetal data editor the values used for the calculation of the sheet metal processing are arranged clearly and comfortably.
