-Information Overload

- Need For Speed

- Knowledge Is Power

Introduction:

3

Page 4: Speedreading

Reading is the gateway to acquire more knowledge.

Reading:

Reading is the process of seeing the words, processing

4

Reading is a skill

Reading is the process of seeing the words, processing

them through the mind, understanding the meaning of

their combination ,then being able to remember them

and use them.

Page 5: Speedreading

When and where did we learned reading?

5

What was your speed back then? 100 wpmWhat is it now? 150wpm

Page 6: Speedreading

The Habits are:

Sub-vocalization,

Why?

Habits & Solutions :

6

Fixation,

Regression,

Page 7: Speedreading

Reading with your internal voice.

We learned phonetically to sound each word

Sub-vocalization: Auditory Reassurance

7

We See the word, say it out-loud and here it to confirm,

Now ,we whisper the words and nothing changed.

Habit

Page 8: Speedreading

It slows you down to talking speed.

It will get you bored, you think it is the material but it is

because of hearing the sound in your head that is

mono-tone and goes on and on

8

mono-tone and goes on and on

Daydreaming

Page 9: Speedreading

You don't say gowhen you see green light

Now that your brain know a lot of words and how they sound just

by looking at them.

9

Trust your brain

Page 10: Speedreading

Something that our eyes do naturally, the eyes need to stop and still to take a picture that is going to be processed by the mind or it will appear as blur.

Fixation:

10

It is frequent stops and constant movement in a very fast way

Page 11: Speedreading

- The human eyes take about 5 pictures a second

- 80 % of the sight is peripheral

- Horizontal vision is wider than Vertical one

11

Page 12: Speedreading

The problem is word by word reading.

if their are 10 words per line there will be 9 stops !!!

Calculate it then!

12

Increase eye span

Fewer fixation + bigger vision span = faster reading

Page 13: Speedreading

The more familiar with the material the lower the

fixation rate

The more your vocabulary is the faster your brain

recognize the words the wider your span

13

recognize the words the wider your span

So, The more you know the faster you read.

Page 14: Speedreading

it is the process of going backward to re-read what you just read

rather than continuing in a forward motion.

Why?

Regression:

14

We want to understand the material , sometimes we read and then

wonder what we have just read so we read it again . and it is a

habit

Page 15: Speedreading

Imagine if someone walks like that, 3 steps Forward then 2

Backward then 10 Forward then 5 back ???

This is not the best way to walk if you want to make progress.

15

- It takes 33% of your time , so 20 min of an hour is regression,

- You will loose the flow of ideas.

Page 16: Speedreading

- Our eyes are attracted naturally to motion

- Use hand to guide your eyes because

16

Trust your Brain

Conclusion:

This is just the start

Practice , Practice , Practice

Practice , Practice , Practice

Repetition is the mother of skills
