    When light passes through a prism, it forms a phenomenon called the SPECTRUM.

    Through different degrees of refraction, the colours that appear are as seen in the rainbow. That was the trigger to the concept we now adopt for the 13 of us graduates from Advertising and Graphic Design of The One Academy, batch 1108.

    As time went by in this college, we discovered more and more of ourselves through seasons of trials, eventually developing a clearer picture of our identitycolours we could call our own.

    In these final moments of everyone of us as a class, we collaborate as many colours to create a beautiful panorama together, later dispersing towards the road that leads to our individual dreams, shining our own colour.

    Here in The One Academy, an internationally renowned top-notch art and design institute, you are taught more than just the technicalities under our industry-driven syllabus. Mastery of software and the various skills are vital, no doubt, but it is meant to present an idea, to deliver a message, to solve various complicated problems, and to empower the weak. Lets multiply our effort in thinking, analysing and creating. Inspirations are readily available in the every day life, if we are sensitive and observant.

    The graduation sparks the commencement of a new phase in your pursuit for world class achievements. Be cognizant of the temptations along the way, which might derail our efforts, so remember to stay on the right track and unleash your potential ethically. As The One

    Academy graduates, you now wield something even more powerful than the diploma youre about to collectand thats the power of your example. With the professional training as envisaged by Masters Train Masters philosophy, you should set a good example for others to emulate.

    Look at those successful leaders of every discipline in the world. Apart from mastering the essential knowledge, they also owed the success they achieved or positions they held to their burning desire to right the wrong and to lift the underprivileged.     Dont ever give excuse when we fail, as there goes a saying, Excuses are the monuments of nothingness, and build bridges to nowhere; those of us who use these tools of incompetence, seldom become anything but nothing at all.     We believed everyone has sat through a graduation ceremony during your high school or even primary school. You have special music played or perhaps shared the accomplishments graduates have achieved. However, one common important element in every graduation ceremony is, What we call the beginning is often the end, and to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from.

    Your Diploma is not a milestone, but a stepping-stone in your life. Though the three years to complete this entire study is only short, but your achievement here will have a major influence on your chosen career. We hope all of you have gained many valuable lessons that will help you in lifelong learning and most importantly to have positive mindset when approaching any challenges in life and career. Treasure every experiences and opportunities to learn with humility and teachable attitude. Late nights and stressful days, tasks that came along with the storms of life. Our skills were honed in those hard times, making us into who we are today.     I have the passion at what I am doing now, and will continue to gain this momentum, ever- improving in my work. As a creative, I have a flare for drawing, and love clean and simple designs that people can understand just by taking one look at it. I specialise in illustrations, creative thinking, and designing.

    The colour Maroon is a colour of energy, passion, and action. It signifies a pioneering spirit and leadership qualities that promotes ambition and determination. It is also strong-willed and is able to give confidence to those who are shy or lacking in will power. That is who I am.

    I entered the D&AD competition with two others from my class. This project is about creating a new visual language for The Body Shops brand communication to reflect their pioneering spirit. We used the term, Define It Yourself (DIY), where others do not define your beauty, but you yourself have the say. By using this product, you can be beautiful and confident in your own way.

    Drawing with meaning is something I do on Instagram. Every drawing I do has meaning to it. Each drawing will be given a visual and a few words that act as mnemonics. With these drawings, I hope to make an impression on people by creating meaningful illustrations that would touch peoples hearts.

    This Milo project is a personal work that I decided to do. Milo is an energy beverage that you drink in the morning, where the energy you get from it can last for almost a day. What I did was to use the Milo cup from top view as a symbol of a medal and added straps to it to make it have the full look of a medal. The tagline I gave is Wake up everyday a champion, which was inspired by medals.

    Kit Kat is another personal project I did. Kit Kat has always used the tagline, Have a break, have a KitKat, which inspired me to use these two countries that have always been at war against each other; Afghanistan and USA. So it is time for them to take a break from all of it and have peace with one another.

    I see myself as a passionate person, especially when it comes to art and design. Throughout my years of learning, I have developed a strong ability and sense to design, especially in typography, illustration, and layout design. I am infatuated with details, and believe that design is a tool to enhance and achieve effective communication, not just merely a means of decorating, but one that holds solid conceptualisation and appropriate visual that is able to communicate.

    I find that the colour Red suits me a lot. It is a colour of fire and blood that is associated with energy, strength, and determination, as well as passion, desire, and love. It is also one that is often used in Chinese culture, a subject with which I have very deep understanding in due to my family background. Thus, I would incorporate its elements if there is an opportunity to do so and if it relates to the project.

    This is a set of promotional materials for the Chinese Opera event: The Patriotic Princess. It is a sad Chinese Opera story that talks about the love between Princess Changping and Prince Zhou Shixian. In this project, I have created and illustrated a logo for the event, which features a ladys face, portraying the main heroine. Besides that, I have also created a set of promotional items such as the event poster, tickets, magazine ad, leaflet with the CD album, and the programme booklet.

    This is a packaging design of coloured pencils named, CREATIVE KINGDOM, which is aimed towards primary school children. The overall look was inspired by the forms of a castle, like the logo and packaging shape. This product features 32 different colours of water-soluble coloured pencils which allows children to express their personality and emotions as they draw or colour. There is also a chess map behind the colour pencil case for the children to play, which helps to exercise both sides of the brain and raise their IQ.

    SHAKE is a newsletter that talks about dance. Dance is a type of art that involves movements of the body, often rhythmic and music-centered. The newsletter touches on the highlights of dances from the past to present day, showing how people have danced for thousands of years. Some additional information such as fashions, dance songs during the era and interviews of the dancers will be featured inside the newsletter.

    I see myself as an adventurer, enjoying the life of camping, swimming and hiking mountains, daring to try out sky diving. This colour of luxury and pleasure appeals to the flamboyant and fun-loving type of person who likes lively places. Orange is of youth, strength, fearlessness, curiosity and restlessness.

    I am flexible and adaptable, aiming to handle any kind of environment or workload. I specialise in illustration, advertising, branding and graphic design. As with the colour Orange, I enjoy socialising and planning all types of social events. I am optimistic, outgoing, and generally an agreeable person.

    CREST is a magazine about forgotten warriors. Nowadays, many people have forgotten these famous warriors who have protected and sacrificed themselves for the sake of their own people. The interesting aspect of this magazine is how it describes the strength of these warriors who were able to protect people and fight their enemies.

    The SMP of HIAP MOH for this project is, Shaping Imagination. It is to rebrand the company and to let the public know that they are now able to fully bring into reality the imaginations of a designer. Besides that, the logotype is made with shapes that form the letters H or M, leaving room for people to imagine the logo while still allowing people to know what it is from looking.

    In 2013, we won a Merit for a competition called Kancil Award. Along with my group mates, we came up with a simple idea: ASTRO ON-THE-GO will transform anywhere, any place, into your living room so that you no longer have to rush back home in time to watch your favourite channels. People these days are often too busy to watch them just in their living rooms, so instead of going back home, we bring the living room to them.

    Yellow is the most vibrant and outstanding colour. Much like it, I have a bright and cheerful personality, always looking forward to creating original ideas and making inquisitive remarks about design. I want to help people find new ways of doing things.

    I am a fun and loony person; I like to experiment with different and new things. That is what sets me apart from normal human beings. I am attracted towards beautiful visual but the reason behind that visual is what makes it much more compelling. I desire to work towards achieving such designs.

    CABIN IN THE SKY is an American musical. I wanted to highlight the fun and vibrant colours throughout the whole musical by using illustration and certain sets of colour. By using these, it reflects the comedic side of the story.

    I like to draw during my free time, especially weird expressions of people. The weird and unusual is fun because it shows a different perspective of what they normally look like. My drawings tend to have a sense of humour and fun. The medium I favour is pen and pencil on paper, while bright and simple colours are my favourite palette.

    FURU KARA means full colour in Japanese. My SMP for this packaging is the strength of the colour pencils. I used the concrete texture to emphasize the strength of it and the Fuji Mountain element in the logo to further enhance the message. I also wanted the colour pencils to aid the user. By adding clips to the packaging, the user can clip the coloured pencils on their sketchbook and wherever they like.

    I am Lime Green, the integration of the distinct advantages of both. When it comes to my character, I am full of what yellow speaks of. I spread the joy and happiness, applying it also in design, because I think everything should be done with a hopeful outlook. Continuous growth and constant innovation is what I pursue, as I know, they give a different sense of freshness. They are also the reasons of why I am able to achieve stable design skills and great patience.

    When it comes to Green, it is a colour of sunshine, joy, and happiness. It is able to evoke pleasant and chipper feelings of the other person. Green however, symbolises growth, harmony, and freshness. It anticipates the things to come, and suggests stability and endurance.

    This is a branding project for SAVE ONES SIGHT MISSIONS which fights blindness in the eyes. The logo concept uses SOSMs 4A mission: Awareness, Accessibility, Aid, and Attitude. The alphabet A is turned 360 degrees to represent Infinity, telling the message that this company is able to reach infinite lengthsoverseas and everywhereto stop vision degeneration.

    The packaging project, LITTLE PARADISE, is a certified, fully-organic baby product. The concept is that babies are a precious gift from God and are little angels from LITTLE PARADISE. Therefore this product is here to help mothers care and protect the health of their little angels. Flora and bird graphic elements are used to say that the baby will be happy and grow up healthily.

    HAPPY INVENTORY is about dessert, and to show the audience that desserts are not just for taste but can be made into creative and special creations that will form wonderful memories of happiness. To attract dessert lovers or youngsters, I have designed the layout in a modern way using graphic elements and photography so that the readers will feel happy and enjoy the newsletter.

    Green stands for hope and growth. It represents my freedom to pursue new designs and ideas. With this thought in mind, I will be able to create new things, to never give up and keep myself continually calm, moving forward constantly.

    I am a very imaginative designer. I always do silly things because I find that it might help a person to come up with innovative ideas; things that are silly enough to make people remember.

    The purpose of this project is to let more teenagers get in touch with traditional Chinese culture by using retro-modern art. This style combines vintage and modern elements to attract teens, as traditional Chinese culture is usually very boring to most of them. Therefore, my goal is to make teenagers feel a sense of curiosity and enjoy this Chinese opera.

    This projects aim is to revamp the brand called, Hiap Moh It is a leading paper merchant in Singapore with subsidiaries in Malaysia and China. It has existed for at least 80 years since long ago. I rebranded their company with the SMP, Paper With Emotion, because designers want their artwork to be perfect and bring out the feelings they want by using different papers. So I created posters to showcase that papers have emotions, and to let others know of Hiap Moh.

    This publication showcases objective stories of cigarettes. The purpose of the publication is to let others know about the pros and cons of smoking cigarettes. Whether good or bad, it depends on the mindset of the readers.

    Design for me is a platform to communicate something across. It is very interesting how design can change ones behaviour, or how it touches peoples hearts. I believe design plays a very big role and has a huge influence on society. I do not merely want to create designs that people can forget the next day, but I want to develop designs with great ideas that can make an impact on people for a greater cause.

    The colour turquoise means clarity of thought, communication, and also creativity. The clarity of my thought process leads me to have a clear objective to form out the best solution for my designs. I personally think that design is not only about pretty things but about the message it is saying.

    This is done for my corporate identity rebranding project. We have to rebrand a paper merchant company called Design Line. According to my analysis, designers are very particular when it comes to choosing paper. From that point, I was inspired by how artists express themselves through brush strokes. I use these as a mnemonic throughout the collateral to capture the essence of the expressions. Colourful strokes are then used to show the quality of Design Lines paper when designs are printed on them.

    These illustrations and doodles are what I did as my side project. I like to draw lot of different things, but most of the time, I draw a lot of female portraits and their fashion. I like to do life-drawings as well, sometimes doodling random things and the people around me. I also tend to jot down some of my thoughts along with them so that they can act like a journal which I can look back to. Ink pen is my ultimate tool for drawing, which is why my lines on most drawings look rough and doodle-like.

    ECOPAL is a project done for my Packaging Design class. It is a self-made brand of wood-free colour pencils. These pencils come from thousands of non-biodegradable materials that are meant to be thrown away. I wanted to make a packaging that can tell stories to its buyer, so I made full use of the packaging to send the message, including the pencils themselves. Lastly, the style is quirky and doodle-like, to make it look appealing to the younger audiences.

    I dont like to limit myself, because that is where the design process ends. There would be no progression that I would be satisfied with. I like to be free, to do anything I like, and to improve on it to make it better than before. I aspire to be a bird, enjoying its flight in the sky, breaking past my limit.

    When the Sky Blue colour comes to mind, the first thought is the picture of an unlimited blue sky, and the vastness of it. It represents my freedom in design, the unlimited creativity with no rules or boundaries to restrain its development.

    HUMMING BIRD is a pencil box packaging. The beautiful bird represents a leading figure for children to explore the colourful journey. It is green so that it will stand out from the shelf among other competitors. The packaging design brings out the unique selling proporsition of the colour pencils, which is the erasable feature. The box is designed with a movable cover, where when it is pulled up, the colour of the bird changes.

    This TVC is to promote the amazing facts of the sea creatures in Aquaria, such as the Giant Grouper, which can weigh up to 600kg. The story talks about a rich man who goes into a restaurant to order 600 peoples worth of food with a short time limit for preparation. The chefs then get an idea to order a giant grouper which solves the problem.

    I am more inclined towards illustration, copywriting and graphic design. Floral elements and minimalism are my loves. Much like Blue, I care for the needs and conditions of others, knowing that they are not robots but people with feelings. I do not seek to create conflict, but to maintain an order of peace in relationships.

    During chaotic times, I remain calm: one of the well-known attributes of Blue. From life and design experiences, I keep in mind what I learned from my mistakes and from othersfriends, colleagues and seniors who are more adept. With new knowledge that is gained everyday, I impart these into my designs, making them better than the last.

    SIX GENERALS is a Chinese Opera with a rather ironic name. You may guess that it is about six generals, but in actual fact it is about a prime minister named, Su Qin. Using this point, I illustrated a visual with Su Qin shown upside-down, reflecting that things may not be how they seem at first. He then contains the six generals who are right-side up as he was the one who united the nations of these generals. The logo was hand-drawn to complement the style of the illustration. Stationery of the event includes event poster, leaflet, booklet, tickets and a magazine spread.

    My class was given the task to write a slogan for Wonder Bras ads. Something catchy would always remain with people, thus I tweaked the well-known phrase of kiss goodbye and turned it into kiss silicone goodbye, as one of the unsaid competitors of Wonder Bra are breast enhancement surgeons who use silicone. The second ad was done according to the Whats on his mind season of Wonder Bra, implementing the two words that form the brand name, into the slogan.

    A magazine about flowers and the lifestyle of modesty. As there are two topics inside, I decided to make a separate, smaller book in the middle for a more interesting reading flow. ACACIA is released once every month and includes Monthly Bloom, This flower is elaborated in detail and shown on the cover of the issue it is highlighted in. I went with a mild tone of colour to fit the subjects of the magazine, reaching a sort of dreamy and soft look that I find is suitable for its target audience.

    Nevertheless, I am also the type of person who does not rely only on instinct but from various other perspectives as I believe design is not just about the look and feel, it is about how it functions. I will always get myself ready and keep moving forward to make sure I will do better in my career as a graphic designer.

    Indigo, a combination of deep blue and violet; It is the colour of midnight. It signifies my deep concentration and intuition when I am thinking or analysing.

    MONOCHROME is a project done for my publication class. It is a newsletter that talks about black and white photography, helping the readers to explore the genre. Through black and white photography, you will see different types of beauty around the world. I was inspired a lot by the famous photographer, Elliot Erwitt.

    \GEM Packaging\This project is to design a product packaging for colour pencils and to create a new brand for it. The brand that I created called GEM, represents the vibrance of colour. The structure and graphical patterns of the packaging were inspired from gem stones. I fully utilised the space of the packaging to make it compact and easy to carry around.

    Black and white photography brings us into the world of monochrome. Without the distractions of colour, stories and emotions can be fully expressed. It is also able to add timeless romance and a mysterious atmosphere to make the photos even more impactful. Compared to ordinary coloured photographs, black and white shows a completely different kind of concept and photography experience.

    I may not be the most outstanding in terms of design skills, but my strength is in articulating the ideas and presenting to people. I am an active and sociable type of person. Purple signifies an individual who is creative, knowledgeable and mysterious. We usually follow our keen intuition which is rarely wrong.

    I am a realistic and hard-working person. At the same time, I love travelling to many places and savouring different types of food. I also like working on anything hands-on, which correlates with my passion of educating kids about arts and crafts. Other interests include meeting new people, and playing sports.

    TERRAIN WARRIOR is a project done for my publication class that focuses on 4 Wheel Drives (4WD). The reason I chose 4WD is that it has its own characteristics and are tough-looking compared to common luxury cars. Also, current car magazines at the local stores are very messy and cramped up with information, unable to grab attention. I was then inspired to create a clean look for readers to have better readability with justified DINPro.

    Night Photography refers to photographs taken outdoors between dusk and dawn. Usually, night photography requires skills, observation and patience. This project has been an eye-opener, that night scenery has trained me to be patient and more observant to capture every beautiful detail such as lighting and perspective.

    The creative process of digital painting is more or less the same as traditional painting. This is one of my favourite subjects where I feel I could express my art and colour sense freely, while also enjoying my passion. I always spend quality time in details and making sure that it looks similar to samples. I have improved and learned from these 4 paintings.

    I remain open to suggestions and critiques, because I know they are able to enhance ideas. I am sensitive to both my surroundings and of the little details in design, using this quality to solve problems for the people who need me. Opinions from others are something I am very happy to accept. I believe that people can be stronger and brighter when they continuously absorb knowledge and adapt to changes from life situations. Bow To Gain More is the quote I always live by.

    Pink is caring, tender, full of love and acceptance. It is a combination of Red and White, which represents my passion and openness towards the creation of design.

    PINMAG is a newsletter about travel, music, food, lifestyle, nature, luxury, and fashion from Pinterest. Every article is about famous posts in Pinterest. Issues will be released every month according to the votes from this newsletters website. The issue of this month, A Colourful Life: Wonders in High Definition, talking about nature, art and people, that are rich in colour.

    COLOR LAB is a brand of watercolour and erasable colour pencils. The idea for this colour pencil packaging came from the laboratory and inspired by the creativity of children that likes to try new things. The idea was to try and combine the creativity of children and the colourful outside world into a box of colour pencils, making it more interesting. The materials used for this box are Perspex and test tubes, so that children can straight away start using the test tubes as containers for watercolour pencil usage.

    This is a Corporate Identity project for the paper company,Design Line. The SMP is Reinforce Design, which means that Design Line gives the foundation and support for designers to reach superior quality works. The logo is formed by D, L, and a line that shows the support for its whole form. The posters and paper swatches also show how paper supports design using the graphic mnemonic from the logo. It is used like a base, to fortify, prop up, and emphasise. The layout of the posters are arranged in a square and stable structure to support the idea.

    QUAINT is a 40 pages newsletter magazine featuring articles about interesting photographs all over the world. Photographs can tell many different stories and capture rare moments that cannot be repeated or be told by anyone. Therefore, this magazine is to lay out all the interesting moments of the best photographs.

    Being a designer, one has to be open-minded, patient, and optimistic. These qualities are the ones that benefited me into going through the obstacles and challenges I had to face in this design industry. Like the Peach colour, I believe modesty is the key to continual self-improvement of self, because that is when a designer is most open to suggestions and ideas. There is a very fine line between being confident and being arrogant, after all.

    I see myself as a keen graphic designer and a photography enthusiast, who is able to adapt and maintain a positive mind set towards reaching my goals in life. Passion tends to be the main driving force behind my creativity. I believe that I love what I do and that ensures me to carry out what I do best.

    KALEIDOSCOPE is a cylinder container containing a set of 12 colour pencils and a real kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscope brings out many different interesting pattern and colours formed by shiny beads at the end of the tube. Therefore, similar to colour pencils, by colouring you can get many different outcomes to your artwork. My target audience are children because they are the ones at their age who enjoys exploring new things and hopefully, the kaleidoscope will inspire them to create remarkable artworks.

    The objective of this project was to promote Design line, a paper supplier company, with a new identity and promotional items. Crafting Wonders, which is the main message I want to tell the audience, suggests that Design Line has an understanding in design for choosing the perfect paper, while considering designers who want to make their design memorable. Therefore, the idea of using the art of pop-up with paper, is designed to make an impression and convince the target audience that Design Line is the perfect choice.
