Dear Dharma Friends and Members of Sakya Tenphel Ling (STL),

Great News!! Our Temple is gearing up for a new look in April, to usher in STL’s greatest event of 2013, The Precious STL Lam Dre from 24 May to 7 July 2013. And

by intended auspiciousness, it inaugurates on International Vesak Day 24 May, the most holy and meritorious day to all Buddhists. This year’s Vesak will be spectacular! It is also special because a pervasive experience of holiness and auspiciousness that transcend the whole Temple will greet you on arrival!

With the confluence of favorable conditions, blessings and endorsement from His Holiness, His Eminence Khondoong Ratna Vajra Sakya, His Eminence Luding Khenchen Rinpoche and all members of the Sangha, we are embarking on the following very meaningful and holy projects. The opportunity is now here for you and loved ones to partake and receive the blessings of this life and the next, and a step advanced on the Enlightenment path:

1. Offering to the supreme field of merit: The Buddha

a. Refreshing, the glorious face of the Buddha image which exudes serenity and com-passion with gold paint. (This activity will be performed by lama specialized in paint-ing)

b. Adorning the golden ‘Nirmanakaya’ Body of the Buddha with outer noble robes dur-ing the 4 Great Festival of Lord Shakyamuni Buddha, to be accompanied by 16 Arhat Puja before the offering of robes. (On these days it is said merit accrued will multiply a million times.)

As our Shakyamuni Buddha entered into parinirvana more than 2,500 years ago, we are unable to make offering to him directly. However we can enact this offering to the supreme field of merit by sponsoring these activities performed on the image of Shakyamuni Buddha.

This meritorious accumulation is enormous, powerful wholesome activities in an incredible auspicious Vesak month when all merits multiply million times. We would like to invite you to partake in this rare opportunity that will bring you blessings in this life and the next. You can contribute monies to acquire gold pellet and robes, and do invite your friends along.

2. Creating a pervasive auspiciousness of our Temple through pillar decora-tions

a. Decorating the entrance pillars of the Temple in traditional Tibetan style painting to enhance the spirituality of the Temple.

b. Decorating the fencing pillars with the setting up of a stupa that houses the Sakya lineage masters’ relics and pills etc. The Stupa sits mighty on the top surface of each pillar and enhances a religious aura around the temple ground.

(These holy activities will be undertaken by specialist artists together with members of the Sakya College Sangha, starting in April.)

Throughout history, building of a monastery or temple is an enormous noble and meritorious practice of offering, as such act goes a long way to shelter the members of the sangha and support the preservation and propagation of the Buddhadharma. Our Buddhist fraternity’s ability to grow and benefit other beings is because of this great act of generosity by past sponsors. The very First offering was done by King Bimbisara of Magadha who offer the Bamboo Grove to Buddha and His entourage of wandering Sangha as shelter for the raining season retreat. At this present time, we may not be able to contribute in such a big way, but we can contribute to similar holy activities on the temple ground.

Since the inception of our Temple in Pasir Ris in 1995, there were numerous great Sakya Masters who had come and showered blessings continuously. This explains why many visit-ors commented that STL has special energy. These present activities will be very meaningful as they enhance the spiritual grandeur of our blessed Temple. You can imprint your share of

the pervasive auspiciousness through your generous contribution, as Sponsor’s name will be engraved at the base of Stupa. (Please refer to the registration section for more detail of your contribution.)

3. Being a Sponsor to The Precious STL Lam Dre 2013 (24 May to 7 July 2013), the greatest event of 2013 for STL

Great effort was made before we are able to invite His Eminence Khondoong Ratna Vajra Sakya to Singapore to bestow The Precious Lam Dre Teaching. It may not happen again for

another long period of time. Do not miss this very rare opportunity. For those who want to participate in the teaching, the closing date is 24 April 2013.

a. Volunteering your service to help during The Teaching. There will be a lamp light up for all volunteers during The Precious Lamdre, to accrue them the blessings and the gratitude

4. Being a Vesak Annual Grand Sponsor on International Vesak Day Celebra-tion 2013 May 24

Be a Vesak Annual Grand Sponsor at $3,800. Your sponsorship will go to

- Support the running of the Centre including daily expenses and activities

- Provide food and shelter for members of the Sangha

- Maintain proper function of the temple building and the surrounding

- Propagate the Buddha Dharma

Your benefits include

- Exposure to all the blessings throughout the year at the centre Main hall where all dharma activities are held. Your name will be displayed on a stand in the Hall for a year.

- Dedication of all centre rituals and visiting program rituals to you as a grand sponsor, you in turn will to receive all the blessings to protect from obstacles, ac-crue and gather wealth and maintain health

- Daily dedication of Tara and Mahakala Protector Puja to you by STL resident khenpo who performs the Pujas daily so that your daily activities will be smooth and wish-fulfilling

- Special dedication of the 16 Arhat Puja to you as a Grand Sponsor during the 4 great festivals of Shakyamuni (Duchen) including Vesak day. Merit accrued on these days are said to multiply by a million.

- Special dedication of Marpo Korsum, The 3 Red Deities Puja to you as a grand sponsor once a month on Thursday so as to actualize your wealth effectively.

As this is a very auspicious Lam Dre year, in addition to the above holy activities per-formed for the benefit of our Sponsors, there will be 3 more activities in connection to the Precious Lam Dre event:

His Eminence will do dedications to all grand Annual sponsors through

- The blessing of the Long Life Deity Unisha Vijaya during the Long Life Initiation. May all sponsors live a healthy long life.

- Offering on your behalf the light (of wisdom) on every Lam Dre Teaching day in appreciation of their support for the propagation of the Buddha Dharma at the Centre.

- The blessing of the Protector Mahakala during Kangso on the morning of the closing day of Lam Dre (7 July )

In this way all Vesak Grand Annual Sponsor will receive the full blessing accrued from the Lam Dre event.

(This year Vesak Day celebration will end with a grand finale of Grand Annual Sponsors’ Puja and circumambulation from 3.30pm – 500pm, as the Lam Dre Teaching starts the next day which is the Tibetan Vesak Day.)

6 – 7 am Sojong: Taking of 8 precepts STL Main Hall and compound

Those who intend to take 8 precepts and/or Taking Refuge vows for the first time are to register with office.

7 – 8 am Unisha Vijaya Long Life Initiation (by HE Khondoong Ratna Vajra Sakya to usher in the auspicious starting of STL Precious Lam Dre Teaching Event)

Light breakfast for preceptor and preceptees of Sojong

8.45 – 9.45 am Open Ceremony of the Grand Lam Dre Event by His Eminence with the Blessing of the Temple: 1) Blessing the Vesak Grand Annual Sponsors’ shrine2) Blessing of the Main Gate Stupa and all the surrounding Stupa3) Blessing of the 4 auspicious Front Pillars to the main Hall 4) Blessing of the 3 external shrines and 5) Release of life (symbolic)

10 – 11.30 am Shakyamuni & 16 Arhat Puja and adornment of robe to Main Image(Dedication to all sponsors of Vesak including Grand Annual Sponsors, Great Vajrakilaya Phurpa sponsors, refreshing of Main Image contributors, pillars and stupas sponsor, and Buddha’s robe sponsors.)

11.30am -1.00pm Free Vegetarian Lunch (All are welcome)

1 - 2 pm Taking Refuge (with His Eminence especially for 1st timers )

2 – 3.15 pm Tara Puja (for members, friends and Lam Dre takers)

3.30 – 4.30 pm Sponsors’ Puja: Jingdak Ngasol for all Vesak Grand Annual Sponsors and Great Vajrakilaya Phurpa Sponsors (after Tara Puja) and those that present (All are welcome!)

4.30 - 5pm Evening circumambulation and dedication prayers for happiness to all sentient beings

After 5pm Pack up and prepare for the starting of Lam Dre Teaching the next day, Tibetan Vesak Day. (Volunteers required.)

Note: Dear members and friends we need volunteer helpers for the coming Vesak

Day and Lam Dre event. Please register at the office if you can participate in these

meritorious activities.

May all beings perform virtuous activities and may their virtue multiply a

million during Vesak month, and bring forth happiness and antidotes to dispel

the suffering arising from the three poisons.
