Theatre 1

(2018) - 84 min - Germany Animation | Adventure | Comedy

Spoiled orange house cat Marnie lives a

comfy life in the Sunshine household. She

has never been outside this protected home

and only knows the real world through her

favorite detective crime show on TV. Her

loving owner Rosalinde anticipates Marnie’s

every wish. One day Rosalinde’s brother

Paul shows up and lures Marnie into a box,

promising her a leading role as a special

agent on a secret mission. Marnie jumps at

this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity but finds

herself lost on a lonely intersection. Out on

the road, she soon is joined by Elvis, a loud-

mouthed but actually shy dog, and Anton, a

donkey who wants to become famous as a

show-act in a circus – disguised as a zebra. When neurotic rooster Eggbert

completes the squad, the runaways hijack a red van, which turns out to be a

wanted getaway car. Soon they are mistaken for a notorious gang of art

thieves haunting the once peaceful village. For sharp little Marnie, their

mission is clear: to capture the real culprits and restore their honor. A film

about courage, about finding yourself and about true friendship. Based

loosely on Grimm’s "The Bremen Town Musicians" a modern, hilarious road

movie is told. From Oscar® Winning Directors Christoph and Wolfgang

Lauenstein whose latest film “Lewis & The Aliens” has been purchased by

Warner Bros.

10am-11:07am Des Cowboys et Des Indians

Theatre 1

(2018) 67 min Documentary

Fabrice du Welz's documentary on the Belgian eclectic comedy duo

and the creators of Vincent Patar and Stéphane Aubier, Cowboys

and Indians: The Cinema of Patar and Aubier. (Des cowboys et des

indiens: Le cinema de Patar et Aubier.) With screenwriting friend Luc

Jabon, Fabrice du Welz, himself a filmmaker with a unique style, has

chosen to spotlight the duo Patar and Aubier, who he considers as a

couple of deeply Dada, punky, sincere, fierce yet tender heroes. From Cowboy to Ernest and Celestine, Patar

and Aubier's 70-minute work demonstrates great narrative qualities and a constant search for new animation

techniques. But where does this all come from? This is the question du Welz has tried to answer through

their documentary which traces the career of this creative duo and the myriad of personalities surrounding

them making up a united collective all working towards a common idea of selfless and decidedly politically

incorrect creation.

78 min - USA - Abstract Animated Feature

North of Blue is an abstract animated feature film that began in the

mysterious winter landscape of the far north, where director Joanna

Priestley was a fellow at the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture in

Dawson City, Yukon. The film grew into an exploration of the non-

objective idiom that that plays with shifting focal points, suspension and

tension of two-dimensional patterning and trance. Priestley’s creative

priorities included creating a foundation grounded in the landscape of

the far north, infusing intersecting lines and shapes with vitality and

finding shapes that sparked a sense of connectedness. Annecy 2018

Quebec City, 1955. Nelly Maloye, an ebullient novice detective, accidentally

crosses paths with Simon Picard, an ambitious research assistant in anthropology

at the local university. Backed by a glory-seeking philanthropist, the intuitive but

disorganized Nelly and the methodical, obsessive Simon set off on a wild

adventure, determined to prove the existence of the Abominable Snowman. To

achieve this goal, Simon relies on the coded diary of a missing explorer - a diary

that should lead them to the mythic creature's lair. Accompanied by Tenzig

Gombu, a clever and enigmatic young Sherpa guide, and Jazzmin, a talkative myna

bird, our heroes confront a host of dangers in the heart of the Himalayas as they

seek that legendary beast: the Yeti. Written by Cinema Management Group,
