SPEAKER’S BIOGRAPHIES Marcel Kramer GIE President Gasunie CEO KVGN President Marcel Kramer was appointed Chairman of the Executive Board and Chief Executive Officer of Gasunie on 1 July 2005. On that day, Gasunie became a natural gas transport, infrastructure and services company. Mr Kramer joined Gasunie in 2003 as Managing Director of the Technology & Assets Division. From 1992 to 2003, Mr Kramer held various positions with Statoil. He was posted to Norway (General Manager, Supply and Shipping Division), to Bangkok (Managing Director, Statoil Thailand), to Singapore (President, Asia Pacific) and most recently to Caracas (President, Statoil Venezuela). Throughout his time with Statoil, he was involved with oil and gas in the up-, mid- and downstream business segments. From 1988 to 1992, Mr Kramer worked with Petro-Canada (Calgary) as Director, Crude Oil Supply and Trading. From 1979 to 1988, he served first in oil and gas-related positions at NATO, Brussels (1979-1982) and then as Head of the Oil Industry Division of the International Energy Agency in Paris (1982-1988). From 1976 to 1979, Mr Kramer held a Staff position in the Oil Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Netherlands. Mr Kramer holds a degree in Private and Corporate Law. He was appointed Fellow of the Institute of Petroleum in London in 1987 and is professionally active in various organisations such as the International Association of Energy Economists (IAEE) and the Energy Delta Institute (EDI) in the Netherlands (an educational institute founded by Gasunie, Gazprom and the University of Groningen). In November 2007, Mr Kramer was elected President of Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), the European association of companies operating and/or owning pipeline networks, LNG terminals and gas storage facilities (www.gie.eu.com). Marcel Kramer was appointed Chairman of the Executive Board and Chief Executive Officer of Gasunie on 1 July 2005. On that day, Gasunie became a natural gas transport, infrastructure and services company. Mr Kramer joined Gasunie in 2003 as Managing Director of the Technology & Assets Division.

From 1992 to 2003, Mr Kramer held various positions with Statoil. Andris PiebalgsEU Commission / DG TRENCommissioner for Energy

Mr. Andris PIEBALGS took up the post of Energy Commissioner in November 2004. Since the EU enlargement on 1st of May 2004, when the Commissioners of the new Member States came into the European Commission, he was heading the Cabinet of Latvian Commissioner Mrs. Sandra Kalniete. Before joining the European Commission, he worked for almost a decade in diplomacy. Mr. Piebalgs started his diplomatic career in 1995 when he became the ambassador of Latvia in Estonia. During five years – between 1998 and 2003 – he was the Ambassador of Latvia to the European Union, later – Undersecretary of State for EU affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia.

Six years of his career were spent being active in Latvian politics. From 1990 till 1993 Mr. Piebalgs was Minister of Education, in 1993 and 1994 he was chairing the Budget and finance committee of the Parliament of Latvia (Saeima). In 1994 Mr. Piebalgs became Finance minister of Latvia and held this post for two years.

Mr. Piebalgs obtained a degree in Physics from University of Latvia. His initial career in the education system continued when he started to work as Director of the Department in the Ministry of Education of Latvia.

Michael StoppardCambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA) Managing Director

Michael STOPPARD, CERA Managing Director, is a member of CERA’s Senior Leadership Team. Mr Stoppard has particular expertise in the international gas business and is responsible for the development and coordination of CERA’s global and interregional analysis of LNG and its communication to clients. Mr. Stoppard led CERA’s entry into LNG research as Project Manager for the pioneering study The New Wave: Global LNG in the 21st Century. Earlier he was a core team member of CERA’s European Gas group, developing CERA’s European natural gas and power scenarios.

Mr. Stoppard has also worked on numerous tailored consulting assignments for clients, including major gas producers, European utilities, power developers, and financial investors. He has extensive experience in providing strategic analysis and recommendations at the board and senior executive level.

Before joining CERA Mr. Stoppard was a research fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, where he published a variety of studies of the gas industry, including his book A New Order for Gas in Europe? He also worked on a study for the World Bank on the environmental benefits of natural gas for developing countries. In addition, Mr. Stoppard served as a Parliamentary Special Advisor on energy regulation for the House of Commons Trade and Industry Committee in the United Kingdom.

He is the author of numerous CERA reports, including analyses of business models, gas and power convergence in Europe, LNG shipping and trading, and gas distribution. He was coauthor with Daniel Yergin of “The Next Prize” published in Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Stoppard holds an honors degree from the University of York.

Richard BartlettRoyal Bank of Scotland (RBS)Head of Corporate & Structured Debt Capital Markets, Europe, Middle East & Africa

Richard BARTLETT is responsible for the Corporate and Structured Debt Capital Markets business in the EMEA for RBS. In this role he is responsible for the product teams which execute transactions in the loan and bond markets with the corporate customers of RBS. This business includes the Bank’s leading US private placement operation, its structured bond business, project and sub-investment grade finance activities.

A civil engineer by background, Richard joined RBS in 1999 to take responsibility for the structured bond business. Over the next five years that business led the development of structured bond market. During this time it completed a number of notable transactions spanning most aspects of infrastructure, utility and public- to- private partnership transactions.

These transactions include the financing of Welsh Water as a not –for- profit company, the acquisition and restructuring by RBS of Southern Water and the development of the financing structure for the UK railways after the insolvency of Railtrack plc. Recently Richard led the Bank’s work on the financing of Ferrovial’s acquisition of BAA, the owner of Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted Airports in the UK.

Richard received an MA in Engineering from Cambridge University.

Sergei KOMLEV is Head of Contract Structuring and Price Formation Directorate in Gazprom Export, the trade arm of the Russian major gas company Gazprom. Mr. Komlev is in charge of contract structuring and corporate price policy formation.

In his previous experience in the consulting and equity research business, he worked on a variety of energy assignments encompassing natural gas, electricity, oil, and financing matters both in the Russian market and internationally.

Jean VERMEIRE joined Distrigas, the Belgian-based natural gas company, in 1989 as Commercial Director, responsible for sales, supply and transit of natural gas. Appointed General Director of the new gas merchant company Distrigas as of 1st December 2001 after the unbundling of the former Distrigas. Retired from this position in January 2005. Member of the Board of Directors since May 2003 and nominated Chairman in October 2008.

Previously with the Chevron Corporation for 17 years with various managerial assignments in commercial, finance and planning in the oil and gas activities of the corporation , with postings in Belgium, Italy, UK, USA and Australia.

Now active as an independent consultant. Holds various board memberships (including the Supervisory Board of the Nederlandse Gasunie and the International Advisory Board of Gasol PLC), is a key lecturer at the Energy Delta Institute in Groningen and President of the Paris-based International Group of LNG Importers (GIIGNL) .

Graduated with a degree in electro-mechanical engineering from the University of Ghent (Belgium) and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California (Berkeley).

He has worked in several companies holding various positions and having responsibilities for commercial, technical, procurement, international and planning issues. He is currently Director of Regulation in Enagas since 2002.

At the same time, he is a Professor for University postgraduates at the Global Development Learning Network, belonging to the World Bank, and lecturer in many other training courses and fora.

He holds university degrees in Chemical Engineering and in Economics Sciences and Business Management. He has completed a Business Administration Executive Program at the IESE Business School and followed doctorate studies in Economics.

Josu MURGUIALDAY’s responsibility in Stream (Subsidiary of Repsol and Gas Natural) is within the Shipping Department and covers all areas related to technical, operations, commercial, newbuildings and support to new projects.

His original background in the industry is coming from his job at sea as Master Marine and - working at sea for 16 years, he was mainly working in the VLCCs and LNG/C area.

His main assignments at shore have always been within the Repsol group of Companies, originally being in charge of the LNG Shipping division in Repsol. When Repsol and gas Natural created the joint venture called Stream, he was assigned his current position.

His experience in shipping covers more than 22 years and the last 16 have been concentrated in LNG/C.

Jacques LAURELUT is the President of GTE since January 1st 2006. He was CEO of GRTgaz from its creation until the end of 2008.

From 2000 till 2004, he was in charge of the Gaz de France Gas Supply Contracts and the Trading activities (through Gaselys - joint branch with Société Générale).

Jacques Laurelut started his career in Gaz de France in 1972 holding different positions in the Transmission Division and being responsible in various areas including gas imports from Russia to France and management of operating and maintenance Business Units. In 1988 he became Project Manager of the new information system of the Division and participated in the engineering of the Corporate Management of the Transmission Division. Dr Walter Boltz is is Managing Director of Energie-Control GmbH (since March 2001) and Vice-President and Chair of the Gas Working Group at the Council of European Energy Regulators. He is also Chair of the Security of Supply Working Group and the Single Energy Market Working Group at CEER. From 2004-2005 he was President of the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB). Mr Boltz spent several years spent several years working in different positions for the EDP department of an Austrian banking group. He then managed the Austrian branch of an international consulting group in the fields of management and technology consulting. From 1991 to 1996 he worked for an Austrian commercial bank in Central and Eastern Europe, among his responsibilities was the restructuring of energy companies. From 1996 to 1999, he was member of the board of a major German consultancy company, and from 1999 to 2001, member of the board of Pricewaterhouse Coopers Management Consulting, in charge of “Energy & Utilities. Walter Boltz graduated from high school in both the USA and Austria and holds a Degree in Applied Physics from the Vienna University of Technology.

Mark van Stiphout’s work as Policy Officer at the European Commission, DG Transport & Energy, Electricity and Gas Unit began in March 2006. As coordinator of the gas team he is responsible for the liberalisation of the internal market for natural gas, which includes the legislative proposals that are currently being negotiated, the rules on access to infrastructure, gas quality and the organisation of the Madrid Forum.

Previous roles include consultancy on renewable energy projects, at Ecofys, with a focus on generating energy from biomass, Market Analyst at Cogas Energie and an internship at Gaz de France, researching gas storage in the EU.

His academic career contains post graduate studies in Economics of the Environment and Natural Resources in Paris, an MSc in Technology and Society and two years in Chemical Engineering (both at Eindhoven University of Technology).

Mr. Amol Wayangankar is an Executive Director at Pace Global Energy Services (‘Pace”) and leads its Natural Gas & Oil Practice. For over 8 years, Mr. Wayangankar has focused on natural gas & oil markets, asset valuations and financing of energy infrastructure projects. His expertise is in natural gas markets (including LNG) and natural gas storage.

Mr. Wayangankar has performed numerous fuel-related due diligence reviews of independent power generation facilities, LNG projects, natural gas storage and pipeline infrastructure projects for major lending institutions related to financing greenfield development or acquisition.

Mr. Wayangankar’s recent natural gas activities have been focused on the development, commercial negotiations, financing, and M&A support of midstream gas storage assets in both domestic and international markets. Within the U.S, Mr. Wayangankar has supported over a dozen storage projects in Gulf Coast, Northeast, Florida and West Coast. Internationally, Mr. Wayangankar has supported storage developers, lenders and private equity funds with project due-diligence in Northwest Europe and the U.K. Mr. Wayangankar supported the market and commercial due-diligence in support of the sale of Mississippi Hub gas storage project. Mr. Wayangankar has also been involved in every project finance deal in the gas storage sector. Additionally, Mr. Wayangankar has significant LNG experience performing market assessments and due diligence for LNG terminal developers and prospective capacity holders in the Gulf Coast, Florida, Northeast U.S., Canadian Maritimes, Central Mexico Pacific Coast, Baja/Southern California and the Pacific Northwest.

From 1997 to 2004, he has been active at Gaz de France head office in several key positions: Manager of the President’s Office, secretary of the Board, Deputy Vice president of the Strategy Division, Vice President in charge of Exterior Relations and Internal Communication. Lex Huurdeman currently is Manager Regulatory Affairs and Commercial Strategy in Europe for Shell International E&P. Ever since graduating cum laude in Mining and Petroleum Engineering from Delft University in 1982, Lex has been passionate about energy issues. He has 27 years of experience in the energy industry, in particular the oil and gas business, (Exploration & production, Gas & Power, R&D) in a variety of commercial, business development, regulatory, technical and leadership roles across the Middle East, North Africa and Europe.

Zoltán JászberényiE.ON Földgáz

Zoltán Jászberényi is the General Manager of E.ON Földgaz Storage Plc in Hungary. He is fulfilling this role since 2007 when E.ON has started restructuring its underground storage activities after the takeover of this business unit from MOL Plc.

Since 2008 he is a member of the European Gas Infrastructure organisations, being ExecutiveCommittee member of Gas Infrastructure Europe.

Previously Mr. Jászberényi spent 2 years in high voltage electrical instrumentation industry where has was the General Manager of AREVA T&D organisation in Hungary. The overall scope of the activity was to design, manufacture, and delivery High voltage and medium voltage electric switches and products. The management of this organization included Sales and Marketing and Operation and turnkey engineering project management (Industrial Engineering and R&D Engineering functions). He was responsible for initiating and spearheading growth strategies, whilst developing the business in order to meet productivity and profitability objectives; growing the organization in order to reflect the right skills and competencies.

Before this time Mr. Jászberényi was fulfilling several roles in gas technology industrial instrumentation industry by building continuously a growing organization at Emerson. Emerson Process Management Hungary being part of Emerson Group is 100% American owned organisation dealing with industrial process management control and monitoring of gas and liquids processes. The role was as general manager to support forecasting, manufacturing and prioritising by evaluating problems, proposing solutions, obtaining stakeholders buy in, agreeing on profitable and scalable courses of action and driving execution.

Mr. Jászberényi is a member of the Society of American Mechanical Engineering (SME) and International Business leaders (IBL) and is a BA, Mechanical Engineer, MBA - graduated in Oxford Brookes University.
