Mr. Van Leeuwen is the Managing Director for the project on the Tsuut’ina Nation land adjacent to the Ring Road. The project is a 50-50 partnership between the nation and Canderel, with the latter putting up the total funds for the $4.5 billion development, and the Nation putting up the land which would be used. ,Details are sketchy at this time but would involve three locations along the route.

The coolness of the “Mirror Room” was nice as we left the 30+ temperatures of the outside and were warmly greeted by new members Pat Wierzba and Garry Ladd. Some of us could not properly thank the greeters as they were missing name tags.

We did our best to sing O Canada and the Rotary Grace without Ruth on the piano, but with George Van leading.

Garry Ladd introduced visiting Rotarians Earl Hudson and Ben Steblecki from the Calgary South Club.

President George asked all to sign-up for Committees as his Directors are trying create their committee structures.

Jim Thompson thanked the members who helped with the cleanup at our Nature park on July 12th. This week’s Arch showed Hank Popoff, Tom Sorenson, the Tonkinsons, Pat Wierzba, and Wayne Wiebe enjoying a pint with Jim after their job was finished.

Rob Wolfson described his new golf pool for this week’s British Open. Participants with the highest numbers of points from their nine picks of players will receive 70% of the pool and the Club will get the remainder.

Terry Green announced that today was the cut-off for tickets to attend the Okotoks Dawgs baseball game on July 27th.

New member, Pat Wierzba, won the 50-50 draw. I think he won recently, when he was still a guest.

Your scribe for the day was also the Sergeant-At-Arms. He collected

contributions from members who had celebrated 50 or more years of marriage to the same spouse - Don McLean (paid by his friend Al Pettigrew), Ernie Hawrylyshen, Terry Green, Jim Hennessy, and Jack Steen, and also from Club Secretary Paul Gaudet for not providing name tags to our new members. Members who were neither visitors to the Stampede grounds, nor purchasers of a ticket on the Rotary Dream Home, were asked to give $1 from their loose change.
