SPEAKERI. K. Suresh

Mr. I. K. Suresh has a degree in Electrical and Electronics engineering from Mysore University and also a certified energy Auditor and Manager (BEE). He is working with ITC in Hotels division from past 24 years, and currently is the General Manager – Projects, Specialized in MEP. He has commissioned several ITC Hotels like ITC Maratha, ITC Grand Central, ITC Royal Gardenia, ITC Grand Chola & ITC Grand Bharat.

Having joined hotels in Operations and Maintenance and having operated as Chief Engineer, he has also worked as an EHS Manager for both operations and Projects. Prior to joining ITC, he was with Bhabha Atomic Research Center as a Project Engineer. He has experience of design, installation, testing & commissioning of HV and LT Systems for Building Projects.

He was part of the project team in BARC to commission various High end DC & AC UPS systems and installation, testing & commissioning of critical equipments such as MG Sets, High capacity VFDs, etc. He was involved in a research project in BARC to develop a specialized motor used in the critical application, after successful completion of project he was involved in regular operation and maintenance of the plant.

After completion of his graduation, he joined Deepak Cables in Bangalore in which he was working as a Production Engineer to manufacture various types of enameled/paper covered conductors used in Motors &Transformers. He was instrumental in obtaining Platinum rated Green Building Certification for all ITC Hotels and he has adequate knowledge of National / International codes, standards and specifications.

Mr. B.O. Prasanna Kumar graduated in Civil Engineering in 1987 from Mysore University, obtained Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering from Gulbarga University in 1989.

Since over 26 years, he has been carrying out design services like water supply system, sewerage network, sewage treatment plants, water treatment plants, solid waste management, storm water management, swimming pools and filtration plants, industrial piping covering design of compressed air, vacuum, process cooling systems, fire protection and life safety, etc.

He is one of the co-founders and Joint Managing Director of DesignTree Services Consultants Pvt. Ltd., having corporate office at Bangalore and branches at Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata and a strong engineering team of 189 members. He is Chairman, IPA, Bangalore Chapter and an Individual Member, World Plumbing Council. He is a representative from IPA for Panel CED24, Indian Standard Code of Basic Requirements of Water Supply, Drainage and Sanitation. He was awarded “IGBC Accredited Professional” by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Karnataka called him as an Industrial Expert for the process of reviewing and revising Syllabus for UG and PG programs. He was recently selected as Jury for Construction Times Awards, Mumbai.

B.S.A. Narayan holds a degree in Civil Engineering, with Public Health Engineering as his specialization. He worked with Consulting Architectural Corporation (CAC), Jeddah. He then joined as Vice President of Potential Services Consultants (P) Ltd. He has been associated with leading technological firms from all over the world and has designed plumbing and fire protection systems, water and sewerage treatment plants as well as central LPG systems for hotels, hospitals, factory complexes, software buildings, software parks and commercial buildings. He is a member of the America Society of Plumbing Engineers – USA, and Fellow of Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering – USA, Fellow of Institute of Plumbing Association of Consulting Civil Engineers India. He is also one of the founder members of Indian Plumbing Association. In 2007, he was awarded the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” by IPA.

Dr. Kul Bhushan Sood is a practising Hospital and Health Care Management Consultant, who has specialised in planning and designing of Hospitals and Healthcare buildings and in formulation of Healthcare Policy. Currently assisting Govt. of NCT Delhi in re-modelling its Hospitals and restructuring its Health Policy, he has been teaching Medical Architecture as visiting faculty in Jamia Millia University. He also teaches Hospital Planning and Management of Healthcare Facilities in IHMR & INLEAD schools of management. He is a member of BIS expert panel. He has standardised the Medical Gas Pipeline Systems for Hospitals and prepared the Uniform Code for MGPS in association with IPA.

Being a Medical Doctor, he provides in-depth understanding of the working of a Healthcare System, especially the Hospital, to the designing team. This, coupled with his broader knowledge and experience, acquired by handling more than 100 Hospitals, Medical Colleges and Healthcare projects; he has become a valuable asset to plan the physical facility for Healthcare Delivery and Medical Education. He has travelled widely and has visited over 600 Hospitals all over the world, and visited 5 major Universities with Medical Schools in USA, including John Hopkins University, University Of Pennsylvania and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Yeshiva University, Charité University in Berlin in Germany. He has contributed Chapters in Books on Public Health and published many articles and reports in various Journals.

Currently, he is working as the principle Hospital Consultant in NOUS Hospital Consultants. He has planned the Healthcare Policy for the Republic of Seychelles in Africa. He is reviewing Hospitals for Govt. of NCT Delhi and has undertaken remodelling and up gradation of 12of these existing Hospitals, in association with a number of Leading Architects of Delhi.

Eng. Giulio Pedrollo is the Managing Director of Pedrollo Spa company, a worldwide leader of Electric water pumps in the domestic and semi-industrial sector, founded in 1974 by the father Silvano Pedrollo. It produces more than 2.5 million water pumps per year distributed in more than 160 countries worldwide. He founded LINZ ELECTRIC SPA in 2002, operating in the production of Energy with the manufacturing of alternators for generators sets from 1.7 to 1500 KWA and is still today the President of the company. He has been the President of the Young Entrepreneurs of the province of Verona between the 2008 and 2011. Later on, he served as the President of the Young Entrepreneurs of the Veneto Region from 2010 to 2013 as delegate for the Education department. From 2011 to 2013, he has been President of the Metal Mechanic Organization, Section of Verona. Harsh Vardhan Agarwala is a BE (Mechanical) and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM-Calcutta. He has worked as a cross-border mergers and acquisitions specialist based out of Hong Kong for 4 years and has extensive experience in the field of finance where he helped financial institutions such as banks and insurance companies raise funds and acquire other financial institutions.

He has over 8 years experience in the thermoplastic piping industry as an Executive Director at Ori-Plast where he oversees Marketing and Business Development. He has considerable exposure to thermoplastic materials used in pipes and pipelines as well as joining techniques. He believes that improvements in pipeline systems can happen only through sustained interaction, collaboration and problem solving undertaken jointly by manufacturers and installers.

He is a member of the IPA NEC, a leading industry body that develops guidelines for plumbing and serves as the leading forum of interaction for professionals associated with the plumbing industry. He is also a Director with IPSC (a sector skill council under the NSDC), which is part of the Skill India campaign.

He is also an Honorary Secretary of the Indian Plastics Institute. IPI disseminates information regarding plastics and plastic processing to the people involved with the plastics industry and the public at large.

Mr. M.K. Gupta is a Consulting Engineer in Public Health Engineering, Fire Fighting & Allied Services and having more than 44 years of experience.

After Graduating in Civil Engineering and working with U.P Jal Nigam, in 1975 he went to Jamaica, West Indies, through Govt. of India, where he worked for more than 10 years with National Water Commission, Govt. of Jamaica, as a Water Supply/Sanitation Expert. During his tenure, Mr Gupta implemented and commissioned many projects relating to Water Supply and Sanitation which were funded by the World Bank & other International Institutions.

In 1988, he founded the consulting firm M/s MKG Consultants located in New Delhi during which he has been involved in various prestigious projects in India & Abroad. He is also the visiting Speaker / Lecturer to various institutions. He is Member of various Organizations like IEI India, IWWA, AWWA, WPC & American Society of Plumbing Engineers etc. He has presented numerous technical papers and presentations in National Conferences on subjects related to his expertise.

Presently, he is the Chairman of Delhi Chapter of Indian Plumbing Association & under his leadership many milestones relating to the upliftment of Plumbing Fraternity have been achieved & he was given Lifetime Achievement Award by Indian Plumbing Association in the year 2011.

He is also the Recipient of WB Honour 2015 for the Special Contribution to Plumbing Design & Development from Washrooms & Beyond.

Dr. Peter Arens, is Director (Product Management) at Schell, Germany. He started his career at the Hygiene Institutes in Bonn and Gelsenkirchen. The topic of his Master’s degree was about “Microbial Growth of Elastomeric Surfaces of Dental Units”. Later he came in contact with drinking-water materials when he did his PhD in natural sciences about “Microbial Corrosion of Copper Pipes”. Since that time he was or is a member of different national or international standardization bodies. Prof. (Dr.) Virendra Kumar Paul is an alumnus of Chandigarh College of Architecture where he completed a degree in B. Arch. He completed Master’s Degree in Building Engineering and Management from School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi (SPA). He has been serving as a faculty at SPA (Dept. of Building Engineering and Management) since 1990. His areas of interest include Building Science, Fire Safety and Quality Management. His Doctoral work related to Quality Management in building design and construction processes. The felicitations received include: Indian Buildings Congress Medal; Architectural Engineering Gold Medal by Institution of Engineers (India); Commendation Certificate for the technical paper by Indian Buildings Congress; Felicitation Plaque by Indian Plumbing Association; Honorary Membership by Fire and Security Association of India; and, Honorary Fellow of Institution of Fire Engineers India.

He has published over 60 papers and made several technical presentations at national and international conferences in the areas of Fire Safety, Quality Management, Building Science.

He is Director in the Governing Body of IPSC and Chairs Committee for developing curriculum for various job roles for plumbing skill development. Prof. Paul has served on technical committees for Uniform Plumbing Code, IS 15883-2009 Guidelines for Construction Management, National Building Code 2005 – Approach to Sustainability; Fire and Life Safety (Part IV) and Light and Ventilation.

He served on Selection Committees for faculty in National Institutes of Technology as the nominee of the Visitor, the President of India, in the domain of architecture, planning, humanities and management.

He has been the Chairperson for Committee for selection of National Awards for Barrier Free Buildings.

As an innovator, Prof. Paul has filed two patents, one on Squatting Water Closet and the other on Passive Radiation and Flame Protection System for Building Compartment and Façade. Currently, he is in the process of developing a mobile app named, ‘Fire Safety Audit Tool’.

He is M.Tech in Electrical engineering. He worked for Dept. of Space, Govt. of India from 1985 to 1995 in planning of various ground Services for Space programs like PSLV, GSLV etc.

He established Synergy Infra Consultants Pvt. Ltd. in Year 1996 and has worked on various projects like Healthcare, Residential, Commercial, IT, Retail etc besides Defense projects of National importance.

He is a Health Care Facility Design Professional- Certified by ASHRAE; Chartered Engineer; Certified Energy Auditor; Accredited professional-IGBC; Master Trainer – Energy Conservation Building Code of India; Member in professional Organizations like IEEE, ASHRAE, ISHRAE, ISLE, FSAI, IIPE, IPA; Member of Institution of Fire Engineers (UK), recognized by Engg. Council of UK. He has been the Past Chair of IPA Hyderabad chapter; Past President of FSAI-Hyderabad chapter. He is Chairman, Advisory committee of Indian Plumbing Skill Council and has made presentations at various Forums in India and abroad.
