Week four of the 2014 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF) concluded with the exciting $50,000 Ariat ® Grand Prix CSI 2* on Sunday afternoon held on the grass derby field at The Stadium at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC). An exciting eight-horse jump-off finished with a win for Hardin Towell (USA) and Man in Black, with Andres Rodriguez (VEN) and Caballito in second and Lauren Hough (USA) aboard Ohlala finishing third. Leopoldo Palacios of Venezuela was the course designer for week four’s finale event. There were 45 competitors on the beautiful grass derby field with eight clear trips in round one to advance to the tie-breaking jump-off. In the second round, four entries cleared the short course without fault. Lauren Hough set the pace with her clear round in the jump-off aboard The Ohlala Group’s Ohlala in 43.24 seconds to eventually finish third. Andres Rodriguez and Arao Enterprises LLC’s Caballito upped the ante with their time of 42.94 seconds to end up in second place. Roosje Brouwer (NED) and Stal Heijligers and A. Vogels’ SRI Aladdin also completed a clear round over the short course in a slower time of 49.56 seconds to earn fourth place honors. Last to go in the second round, Hardin Towell and Jennifer Gates’ Man in Black got the winning edge, completing the course in 42.47 seconds. Man in Black is a 12-year-old KWPN gelding by Gentleman x Calvados that Towell has been riding for one year. Gates showed the gelding in the Junior Jumpers last year and then handed him over to compete at the higher level with Towell. Sunday’s win was the biggest of Towell’s career – his second grand prix victory, and his first major win at the FTI WEF. The rider is 26 years old and from Camden, South Carolina. “With him in the past year, probably starting last year in Thunderbird, I was really close in a lot of classes and I would go too fast,” Towell said of his partnership with Man in Black. “On Thursday I was quite close to winning and I knew I should slow down, and I just kept running down the last line. I’m just glad I beat Andres, because in L.A. in November I was winning the World Cup class and was really fast, (but) he beat me by about one-tenth of a second. I think today was really close again, so I’m glad I could repay him the favor!” “It feels very good (to win), and especially since I just started showing him,” Towell noted. “He’s a little bit Speak Up for Kids Wins Fifth Annual FTI Consulting Great Charity Challenge Presented by Fidelity Investments ® Hardin Towell and Man in Black Beat the Field in $50,000 Ariat ® Grand Prix CSI 2* The winning presentation with ringmaster Gustavo Murcia, riders Ian Millar, Emily Kinch and Kelly Soleau, Greg Weiss, Kristin Solomon and Diana Reese for Speak Up for Kids, and Equestrian Sport Productions’ CEO Mark Bellissimo. © Sportfot Hardin Towell and Man in Black captured their first big win in the $50,000 Ariat ® Grand Prix CSI 2*. © Sportfot Canada’s Ian Millar, Kelly Soleau and Emily Kinch were the winning team in the fifth annual FTI Consulting Great Charity Challenge presented by Fidelity Investments ® (FTI GCC) on behalf of their charity, Speak Up for Kids, on Saturday evening at the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (FTI WEF). As the crown in equestrianism for over 50 years, Rolex is proud to be a major force at play behind the sports finest events, riders and organizations. Whether supporting leading athletes such as Rodrigo Pessoa, Eric Lamaze and Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum or maintaining tradition and excellence with the historic CHIO Aachen in Germany or the well-established FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival, Rolex has cultivated a privileged relationship with the elite world of equestrian sports.

HistoryThe roots of Rolexs affinity for sports and

human achievement can be traced back to the pioneering origins of the company. When founder Hans Wilsdorf set up his watchmaking firm, he was influenced by the swift changes sweeping through society at the beginning of the 20th century. In an era when wristwatches were still regarded as fragile items of apparel, he was determined to create a wristwatch that would be robust, precise and reliable, adapted to ever more active lifestyles.

Rolex evolved, as did its product, in a constant pursuit of perfection. As part of this evolution, Rolex watches made from only the highest quality materials and designed by the industrys best became symbols of elegance and prestige. As a result, it was only logical that Rolex support equestrianism one of the worlds finest sporting activities through an alliance with showjumper Pat Smythe, who became the brands first equestrian Testimonee in 1957. Since that auspicious partnership, Rolexs involvement in equestrian sport has increased significantly.

    EventsToday, Rolex sponsors major

international equestrian events in distinct disciplines. Most recently, the brand partnered the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping, a global initiative created in 2013 by three of the worlds greatest equestrian shows: CHIO Aachen, the CSIO Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament and CHI Geneva. Considered by the founders to be the ultimate show jumping challenge, the Rolex Grand Slam rewards the rider who wins the Grand Prix at each show in succession. As a long-term partner to all three of these prestigious events, Rolexs decision to support the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping was a natural progression.

In 2012, Rolex partnered the Palm

Beach International Equestrian Center. Through this relationship, the brand became Official Timepiece of the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival, which brings together some 6,000 horses and 2,000 riders from more than 30 countries for 12 weeks of international competition in Florida (US).

Rolex has been Title Sponsor, since 2001, of the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final a highlight on the equestrian calendar that assembles the 10 highest-ranked riders in the world as well as a major supporter of the biennial European Championships, an event which brings together Europes best equestrian pairs.

Furthermore, Rolex sponsors three legendary competitions on the Eventing calendar, as Title Sponsor of the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event and Official Timepiece for the Badminton and Burghley Horse Trials. The brand actively supports excellence in the discipline through the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing an award presented to the rider who wins consecutively at these three prestigious and challenging yearly events.

    TestimoneesRolex has also cultivated close

relationships with equestrianisms exceptional competitors, counting among its Testimonees Brazilian show jumper Rodrigo Pessoa, an Olympic and World Championship gold medallist; German rider of American origin Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, the first woman to

be ranked World No. 1 in jumping and three-time winner of the Rolex World Cup Final; Canadas Eric Lamaze who won a gold medal in the individual show jumping event in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and became World No. 1 for the first time in 2009; European jumping champion Kevin Staut, from France, who won a team silver medal at the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky; and Swiss rider Steve Guerdat, the individual jumping gold-medallist at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

    In eventing, Rolex supports British equestrian Zara Phillips, team silver medal winner at the 2012 London Olympics and the individual champion in 2006 at the FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen;

and Britains Pippa Funnell, the first and only rider ever to have won the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing. And in dressage, Rolex Testimonee Isabell Werth world record holder for most titles won in her discipline has the unique honour of having represented Germany at four Olympic Games (1992, 1996, 2000 and 2008), winning team and individual medals at each.

A realm reserved for true champions, horsemanship requires a passion for excellence and perfection. Bound by these shared values, Rolex a true partner of the sport continues to make a unique and lasting contribution to equestrianism around the world.

thank you. Thank you to Kristin Solomon and Diana Reese for all of their hard work for Speak Up for Kids. It was a team effort from not only your team, but from ours.

Kristin Solomon detailed the Speak Up for Kids program, explaining, The guardian ad litem program is a state agency that represents abused, abandoned and neglected children that are in an open court case, and we are appointed by a judge to help their best interests throughout the whole process. This is a volunteer organization. In Palm Beach County alone there are over 500 volunteer child advocates that give children a voice in the court system. I only have 30 employees, the rest are all volunteers that do all of the work. Statewide we have almost 10,000 volunteer child advocates, so this money goes directly to support the volunteers right in this community.

Ten-time Olympian, Ian Millar, captained the winning team with riders Kelly Soleau and Emily Kinch. All three riders jumped clear over their courses and had the fastest combined time of the night in 93.107 seconds to win the top prize of $150,000 for their charity. There is a sliding scale for the balance of the proceeds down to 35th place, which wins $15,000, ensuring that everyone is a winner.

Coming in second place was the team for Wellington PTO/PTA/PTSA, sponsored by EnTrust Capital and Rose Hill Farm as well as corporate sponsor Rosenbaum Mollengarden PLLC. The team consisted of Ken Berkley, Cloe Hymowitz, and Lilli Hymowitz, who all cleared the course with a combined time of 95.056 seconds to earn $125,000 for their charity.

Hunter Hayess charity, Musicares, finished third and won $112,500. The team was made up of Alvaro Doda de Miranda, Paige Bellissimo and Alex Crown, sponsored by Dressage Team and the Rizvi Family and corporate sponsors Carol Cohen, Diamante Farms, Michael Collins, Mike Davis, Rose Peslar (Everglades Dressage), Tim Dutta, Tuny Paige, and the Van Kampen Foundation. All three riders cleared the course without fault and finished with a time of 96.117 seconds overall.

Ian Millar was aboard his mount Baranus this evening, an 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding. This was Millars first time competing in the FTI GCC and he was proud to represent team sponsor Lothlorien for his owners, Susan and Ariel Grange. Millar was also very happy to ride for such a great cause.

It was a great pleasure to do it, and when we finished our round, I cant tell you the pleasure I had, Millar smiled. It is a very enjoyable and rewarding class just because of the situation. I mean, winning Grand Prix is great, but this is different. This is special. To do this for a group like Speak Up for Kids, where they look after 1700 children in Palm Beach

County and to hear that this doubles their annual revenue, its a big deal. This will be life changing for this charity. It is really a very nice thing to be able to help this charity, and we are very proud to do it.

I believe this is the biggest charity competition in this sport, Millar added. This is the premier winter equestrian sport in the world right now, this is the best jumping anywhere in the world. Theyre jumping all over the United States, theyre jumping in Italy, in Spain, theyre jumping everywhere, and this is the best in the world, and to do a competition like this is just such a great credit to them.

Soleau rode a horse named Hoolie Hoo, and was very happy with her round aboard the speedy mare. She was actually a borrowed horse for this event, Soleau stated. A lovely family that owns the horse very kindly let me borrow her. Ive only shown her a handful of times, and she was just fantastic. To ride for this charity was such an honor. Im just beyond thrilled for everybody.

Soleau has competed in the FTI GCC before and was excited to be back in the competition this year and to win for her charity.

Its just fantastic, she smiled. I was in it a few years ago. I believe I was involved in one of the first ones they did, and I get excited every year. It is just fantastic for all of these charities. It was really an honor to be able to ride and compete and win tonight.

Twenty-year-old Emily Kinch led things off for her team this evening and set a very fast pace aboard her horse, New Boy de Logerie. Kinch, originally from Barbados, trains with the Millar family and now resides in Canada.

I was on my new horse that I got over Christmas holidays, and he was pretty spectacular tonight, Kinch praised. Every question I asked, he did it. He was perfect.

Kinch rode in last years FTI GCC riding a mare named Victoria and had a ball. She was happy to return to the competition this year and get a win for Speak Up for Kids.

It meant a lot because when I think of a charity, the first thing that comes to mind is helping children, Kinch stated. To have Speak Up for Kids as our charity tonight, that was first thing in my mind.

Everyone was thrilled with this years fantastic event, including presenting sponsor, Fidelity Investments.

Fidelity Investments is pleased to be a part of the Great Charity Challenge, and to bring much needed support to so many worthy Palm Beach County charities, said Bill Marazzi, VP and Branch Manager of the Fidelity Investments investor center in Palm Beach.

Equestrian Sport Productions CEO Mark Bellissimo congratulated everyone on an exciting event.

I just want to thank this team and the dedication of everyone for giving their

The Equestrian Aid Foundation (EAF) participated in this years FTI GCC and their team placed 13th, earning $26,000 for EAF. Equestrian Aid Foundation, as the organization became known as in 1996, has always prided itself on how we deliver service. Financial support from EAF is provided directly to the petitioning equestrian or their representative. Funds donated to EAF are used to provide various essentials that may include medical needs, health insurance, food and housing, transportation, physical therapy and more. EAF President R. Scot Evans told us more about the charity and what it was like to be a part of this years FTI GCC.

What is your role at EAF?I was one of the founding members of

EAF [and currently serve as President]. We just celebrated our 18 years of assisting equestrians in their time of need due to injury and/or illness.

How has the Great Charity Challenged helped EAFs work?

To me, what it does is it helps extend the mission of EAF, which is assisting equestrians in their time of need, whether due to catastrophic injury or illness. We get it done one way or another and its great way to get the message out.

Why do you enjoy participating in the Great Charity Challenge?

This weekend is a big deal for us because were one of the few horse related charities. So many people refer

to EAF as the heart of horse sports because we take care of the horses humans. We wouldnt have anything if we didnt have the people to take care of these animals. Its a community that were very proud to serve, to help people get back on their feet or back in the workforce as soon as possible, or even over the years.

Its great to be attached to be something like the Great Charity Challenge. I like that its really encouraging all age groups and people from outside of Wellington to participate that normally wouldnt come to see a [show jumping] competition. Its really important that horse sports become more approachable and more in front of people.

What is the atmosphere like on the evening of the event?

Electric. These are people that are there because theyre attached to charity. Theyre just happy to be there. For them to be able to watch our sport, I think theyre blown away by that.

How do you feel when youre watching the EAF team of riders compete?

Its exciting. Its fun! Its just a fun, fun evening and its great to be able to have a team to cheer on. I think the more team competitions we can have, the better. This is a wonderful example of creating camaraderie by also being philanthropic and teaching people how to give back.

Speaking with Scot Evans of Equestrian Aid Foundation

time and energy, Bellissimo stated. This is a big gesture. The owner doesnt get the money and the rider doesnt get the money; the charity gets the money, and it will touch 1700 lives. It is rare that you get that opportunity. I think if you add up the impact of all of the charities and you look at all of the lives we touched tonight, we are going to touch 10,000, maybe 12,000 lives based on the selflessness of some riders and I am so excited about that. This event was created to find heroes in the

community, and I think we found some here. I cant think of a better group to pull it off, and I am thrilled with what happened here tonight. It is very exciting for us.

More information on the competition and winning charities of the 2014 FTI GCC will be available soon. For more information on the FTI GCC, visit www.ftigreatcharitychallenge.com.

2014 VERMONTSUMMER FESTIVAL During the fourth week of competition of the FTI WEF, exhibitors experienced the full spectrum of

Florida weather. Downpours on Thursday resulted in the cancellation of competition, meaning professional divisions were pinned based on their results from Wednesday.

Among the first to be crowned were Uppercut and Louise Serio, who were division champions of the Pre-Green Level 2 Hunters after placing first and second over fences. Uppercut is owned by Serios Derbydown operation. Reserve champion for the division was Carolyn Gouses Dream, ridden by Havens Schatt. Schatt piloted Dream to first and fourth over fences.

The Low Hunter 29 division also awarded championship honors after an abbreviated schedule of competition. Margo, ridden by Santa Maspane, was division champion after jumping to first and second and finishing second in the under saddle class. Margo is owned by Kathryn Haefner, LLC. Wayne McLellan rode South Hill to reserve champion for the division after winning the under saddle and placing first and fourth over fences.

The arrival of the weekend marked the beginning of pony competition for Week 4, beginning with the WIHS Pony Equitation class on Friday. First place went to Sophie Gochman and Trademark, a 10-year-old Welsh Pony owned by David Gochman. Erika Jakobson finished second with Barn Rat, LLCs Highlands Percival and Kathryn Hall rounded out the top three with her own Hillcrests Country Lady.

Rosmels Remarkable left his mark on the Childrens Large Pony Hunter Division, helping Heather Faxer to the tricolor finish. Faxer rode the 11-year-old Welsh Pony cross, owned by Starbuck Equestrian, to first, seventh, and fourth over fences and first under saddle. The reserve champion for the division was Ante Up, ridden by Bernadette Louise Chungunco and Sophie Gochman and owned by Lauren Watts. Gochman piloted Ante Up to a fifth place ribbon under saddle before handing the reins back to Chungunco, who finished second, fourth, and first over fences.

Competition for the youngest exhibitors continued with the Taylor Harris Insurance Services Childrens Medal 14 & Under. Gia Vizzone rode her own Donatello to the top of the class, with Gina Kumar finishing second with Don Stewarts Fernleigh. Olivia Woodson and her horse Victor V.D. Sent were third.

Junior riders werent the only ones enjoying the Florida sunshine that finally arrived over the weekend. The Ariat Low Adult Hunter Section B was split again into two more sections to accommodate this weeks entries. Champion of the first section was E.L. Raymond, a 16-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned and

ridden by Leslie Campbell. The duo was fifth under saddle before winning two over fences rounds and jumping to two more fourth place finishes. Champion of the second section of the Ariat Low Adult Hunter Section B was On My way, owned and ridden by Sarah Kruel. The 10-year-old Westphalian gelding was sixth under saddle and second, first, third, and second over fences.

Reserve champion of the first group of the Ariat Low Adult Hunter Section B was Say Again and owner-rider Elizabeth Wiley. Wiley piloted Say Again to the blue ribbon in the under saddle class before riding to sixth, second, fourth, and second over fences. Season and Garland Alban were reserve champions of the second group of the division after winning the two final over fences classes.

Hunter competition resumes February 4 for Week 5 of the FTI WEF, sponsored by Rolex, and continues through February 9.

Some of the worlds top horse and rider combinations will be in Wellington, FL, this week for the fifth week of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (AGDF), held at the Stadium at The Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. AGDF week five is a CDI 4* with a full schedule of classes running February 6-9, presented by the Dutta Corp. and Havensafe Farm. See the beauty and grace of dressage with some of the worlds best horses and riders competing throughout the week, and dont miss the Friday Night Stars musical freestyle performances in the world-class International Arena on Friday night at 7 p.m.

In addition to the top competition, come enjoy the Yale Spizzwinks(?) a capella singing group on Friday Night. First formed in 1906, the Yale Spizzwinks(?) are Americas oldest

underclassmen a capella singing group. The Spizzwinks(?) - yes the question mark is part of their name! - have proudly carried on a tradition of musical excellence and camaraderie as one of Americas oldest male choirs. In an age before iPods or reality TV, when the only way to hear singing without instruments was in the shower, the Yale Spizzwinks(?) showed the world that a bunch of college guys sporting sweet harmonies and a perplexing name was a winning combination.

Everyone is welcome to attend all of the weeks competition and entertaining events. There is free general admission every day, including Friday night, so come by to see top sport at its finest and enjoy the musical stylings of the fantastic Yale Spizzwinks(?)!

We caught up with Dr. Brett Taylor of St. Louis, Missouri, to talk about his experience at the 2013 WEF Sport Horse Auction and see what Everglades VDL (now known as Bravo VDL) is up to these days. The 2014 WEF Sport Horse Auction will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at The Stadium at PBIEC. It will feature 19 top horses from VDL Stud, including two hunters this year. Dont miss the chance to find your next prospect!

    1. Had you ever been to a horse auction before? How did the WEF Sport Horse Auction compare?

When I was a kid I used to work at a stable, and they rode primarily Quarter Horses. I would go to the horse auctions in Missouri and Illinois when I was a kid. Comparing the WEF Sport Horse Auction to that is like comparing a garage sale to shopping at Neiman Marcus. There was no comparison. It was the nicest auction Ive ever attended.

    2. Why did you decide to attend the WEF Sport Horse Auction?

I heard about the auction from Savannah Tallcott, who used to ride horses for me, and she had gone on and on about the horses at the auction. She was always showing me images of the horses, of them clearing the jump by three feet. It just turned out that I showed up to Wellington to show the same weekend the auction was being held and I could attend with Savannah.

    3. How did you pick out the horse you eventually bought?

Unfortunately I have this addiction to grey horses, so the color was the initial draw. Ultimately, it was watching the videos. He had been shown in Europe quite a bit, and I had spent quite a bit of time watching the five or six videos

of him jumping about 1.30m. It gave me a really neat perspective of how he moved and approached the jumps. I got the impression that he was a horse that was pretty brave and pretty scopey.

    4. What was the atmosphere on the night of the auction like?

It was a really electric, friendly, exciting night. It was a very fun night and everyone was incredibly energeticthe crowd, the horses.

    5. What is Bravo VDL doing now? Bravo is now carrying me around in

the adult amateur jumper classes. He spent a few months with Chris Kappler and Savannah to get to know him a little better. I wanted their thoughts on the horses tolerance of an adult amateurs mistakes. After they had worked with him, he was shipped to St. Louis and I started riding him the summer. We had him almost a year before I showed him. He got to know me before we went in the show ring.

Hes unbelievable! Hes so tolerant of my challenged riding ability! Hes brave, hes flexible, hes scopey. Hes just a joy. I got very lucky in finding a horse that would suit a person of my ability. Hes got a really powerful jump, but in every other aspect hes completely docile and very forgiving.

    6. Would you buy another horse at the WEF Sport Horse Auction?

I would love to! Ill be back again this year, but my wife will be attending with me, so my buying ability will be greatly curtailed! Maybe Ill have someone make a call to her so she can step out for a minute!

a new horse to me who has a very excitable temperament. David had seen me work

him anything about them when he saw me work the horse again with them on and he was amazed at the difference in him. I had been wearing them on his breast plate, and you recommended to David that I try them nearer his head. I attached them below the brow band and this does seem to have further increased their effect. Over the last two weekends, I have had a first and a second in dressage competitions and am happily able to jump him in 1.10m SJ competitions. I have also evented him wearing the Mojo and his performance has been great, with good recovery time after the XC. I now regard them as an essential piece of equipment for my horse as w -Karen McKeown

strong. I have had a lot of trouble the last six months finding the right bit. I have changed a lot of bits and probably made a lot of mistakes using the wrong bits, but I think we have kind of figured it out. Hes a really sweet horse. He is very brave, very scopey, and this is a great venue out in this grass field. He is always good at places like that. He is so brave that he is a little bit impressed out here sometimes, so today he jumped unbelievably. I could not ask for any more; he was fantastic.

Commenting on his winning round in the jump-off, Towell detailed, I thought in the jump-off I was a little bit smarter. I thought about running and being crazy, and then I remembered, You know what, lets just try to be clean, and I thought I was close enough. I landed and I actually saw a leave out to the last jump, which maybe six months ago or Thursday I would have done and knocked it down, but I decided to try to cut it close and win by just a little bit.

He added, I have had a great last year; it has been very lucky. Jennifer has been great the whole year and I want to thank Chris, my barn manager, and my mom and dad, and my sister. We just have a very good team.

Andres Rodriguez was happy for Towells success this week and had a great round with his horse, Caballito. He acknowledged the beautiful venue at The Stadium at PBIEC, which has hosted classes throughout the week.

I really enjoy this venue, Rodriguez stated. The ring where they had the young riders grand prix the other day and this open field are a great change

from the main stage. I think the horses appreciate the change and not jumping the same jumps in the same ring all the time. Leopoldo had a great course out there and I think with the time allowed, we had the right amount of people in the jump-off. From Hardin I knew he was going to get back at me at some point. I was hoping it wasnt going to be today, but it was! It was his turn to win, and I am happy for him. Hes been too close too many times, and this was his day.

Third place finisher, Lauren Hough, had a great week with Ohlala, including a win in Fridays $34,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round 4. Hough was very happy with Sundays conclusion to the week and in addition to the third place prize, was named the Leading Lady Grand Prix Rider for week four. The award is sponsored by Martha Jolicoeur of Illustrated Properties in memory of Dale Lawler.

Commenting on her jump-off round with Ohlala, Hough explained, I have to stick to my plan with that mare. She doesnt have a huge stride, but she jumped fantastic and I think Leopoldo did a super job today. He had just the right amount of clear, the time was short but not impossible, and I knew the first two had two jumps down, but I went with what I could do. This is a huge field, so I just had to hope that maybe I would get a little lucky today, but unfortunately these two young men with big horses and big canters went just a little bit faster than me.

Team F, made up of Kalvin Dobbs (18), from Carmel, IN, and Treesdale Farms Winde, Gabriela Mershad (18), from New Albany, OH, and Mershad Stables LLCs Udonna, Hayley Barnhill (20), from Collierville, TN, and Cara Cheskas Zephire, and Abigail McArdle (19), of Wellington, FL, aboard David McArdles Cosma 20, finished on a total of four faults after the two rounds of competition. The team Chef dEquipe was Abigail Blankenship.

After the first round, each team dropped their highest score. In the second round, all nine teams returned in order of highest to lowest total faults with three riders each. The winner was determined by the lowest total of each

teams top three riders from each round. Dobbs and Winde jumped clear in

round one and finished with four faults in round two. Mershard had four jumping faults and one time fault in round one to be the drop score in round one and did not return for round two. Barnhill and McArdle both jumped double clear rounds to help their team to victory.

Showing in the beautiful arena at The Stadium at PBIEC also gave the riders a chance to compete in a different environment from the rings at the main show grounds. Carlene Ziegler of Artisan Farms noted that the main goal of the series is to give riders different experiences, and the nights class did exactly that.

Part of what were trying to do is give them exposure to different things, Ziegler stated. This particular ring feels like Europe to me. It feels like Vienna, it feels like Cannes, it feels like a stop on the Global Champions Tour. This is magnificent. If theyre looking for that exposure, this is it.

Behind the winning team, Team H finished second on a six fault total under the guidance of Chef dEquipe John Roche. The team was made of

up of Lorcan Gallagher and Spy Coast Farm LLCs OSplendido, Lucas Porter and Sleepy P Ranch LLCs Patriot, Chloe Reid and Chloe D. Reid LLCs Athena, and Wilton Porter aboard Sleepy P Ranch LLCs Radio City. Chloe Reid and Athena were the only other pair to jump double clear in the competition with Barnhill and McArdle. Team H also earned the Best Team Spirit Award.

Team A, coached by Chef dEquipe

Michelle Grubb, placed third with 15 faults in total. The team was made up of Hayley Waters and Dana Waters No Doubt, Ali Wolff and John C. Wolffs Caya, Adrienne Sternlicht and Hathaway, and Alexander Zetterman aboard Springfield Showjumpers Zidane.
