Special lectures were delivered by the following speakers. Our UG and PG students have also obtained laurels in cultural and sports events. I congratulate all the faculty and students for their sincere and hardwork to achieve excellence in their pursuits. EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The students are motivated and trained in various sports activities. The Physical Director organized sports events during February 2010 for boy and girl students, and staff members. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the events during the College Day function.

The Gymnasium is being used by students regularly. It has facility to do 24 different types of exercises.

Our College Football team won 4th place in St. Joseph Tournament held on 12-03-2011.

Shyam Prakash,Karthik A., and Sarathkumar A., of II IT, participated in sports events and won prizes.

OTHER EVENTS Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January 2011 respectively. Dr. D.S.Ramachandra Murthy, Principal, delivered the Republic Day address.

Youth Red Cross was inaugurated on 18th April 2011. Dr.D.S.Ramachandra Murthy, Principal, delivered a lecture on Disaster Management. Ms. Sivapriya, Lecturer (English), is the co-ordinator.

Science Day was celebrated on 28-02-2011 in memory of the discovery of Raman Effect by Sir. C.V.Raman, for which he recived the Nobel Prize for Physics. Dr.S.Muthukumaran, Chairman, Science City, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, was the Chief Guest. Dr. D.S.Ramachandra Murthy, Principal, delivered a special lecture of The Fun and Joy of Science. Science Quiz competition was conducted for the First Year B.E./B.Tech. students and prizes were distributed.

Womens’ Day was celebrated on 3rd March 2011. Competitions were held for girl students and faculty. Prizes were distributed.

SAE Collagiate Club The mechanical engineering students participated in the following events.

1. SAE Trecking at KSR College of Technology, Tiruchengodu on 8th and 9th January 2011.

2. Short-listed for participation in Baja 2012 All-terrain Vehicle competition. Participated in virtual Baja event at Bangalore Engineering College.

3. COLT Programme at Arupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, on 25th and 26th February 2011.

COLLEGE DAY College Day was celebrated on 26th March 2011. Dr.Mrs.T.Banumathi, Chairperson, presided over the function. Dr.K.Balagurunathan, Vice Chancellor, St.Peter’s University, was the Chief Guest. Mr.M.Thanumamoorthy, Vice President – Operations, Corromandel Engineering Co. Ltd., was the Guest of Honour and addressed the gathering. The Principal presented the Annual Report. Prizes were distributed to the rank holders of various classes based on Anna University examinations and to the winners of sports events. There was also a cultural programme by students.

GRANT SANCTIONED AICTE has sanctioned a grant of Rs.6.14 lakhs for conducting a two week Staff Development Programme on Disaster Management for Engineering and Management Faculty during July 2011.

1. SP.Madhankumar and M.Sabari of I MBA attended the State level seminar on Entrepreneural development at KMG College of Arts & Science, Gudiyatham,on 17th Febrauary 2011 .

2. Vijayasarathy, Nizar Mohamed, Balaji and Sasi Kumar attended a National Workshop on Talent Transition at Mamallan Institute of Technology on 8th and 9th March 2011.

3. Gopi Krishna V., of III CSE participated in the Workshop on Cyber security and ethical hacking held at Anna University Chennai on 28th January 2011.

4. Gopi Krishna V., of III CSE participated in the Workshop on Cloud computing held at Anna University Chennai on 29th January 2011.

5. Rajalakshmi and Menaka, of II IT won prize in paper presentation at Sree Vishnu College of Engineering for Women, held on March 5-6, 2011.

PLACEMENT Training was provided for the first batch of M.B.A. students in personality development and soft skills. Several companies visited the campus for placement. Students were placed in Polaris, RR Donnelley, IMRB Abacus, Geojit BNP Paribas, Bharat Logistics, NCH India Pvt.Ltd., ACCEL Frontline Ltd., Pune Chemicals, ICICI Securities Ltd. Kotak Securities, Times of India, Cease Fire Pvt. Ltd., Sutherland, TCS (E-serve), Burger Paints, Paltap Software Ltd., HCL Technologies, and CITE HR. Thirty M.B.A. students were placed out of 45 eligible and willing students. Others secured placement in off-campus interviews.
