Fifteen years ago, Alley Cat Advocates helped me round up and neuter a half dozen or so cats that lived in our barn, producing litter after litter. Their help and guidance ensured a better future for our feline friends, who eventually warmed up to their “humans” enough to let us love on them a little. When the opportunity arose to join the Alley Cat Advocates board, and then to chair this campaign, I was excited and happy to give back. Alley Cat Advocates is making our community the safest place for community cats to live!

Alley Cat Advocates has accepted the opportunity to design, renovate and long-term lease, a freestanding building of approximately 4,500 square feet on the campus of Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS), a campus that is the focal point for all municipal animal services in Louisville/Jefferson County, Kentucky. Buildout of that campus, at a cost of over $11 million dollars, will be completed in mid-2019.
Alley Cat Advocates will partner with Louisville/Jefferson County government to renovate, redesign and equip this existing freestanding building to provide an opportunity for the community to make use of our services, and that of LMAS, with regard to community cats, at a single, central location. This building will provide, under one roof, the following Alley Cat Advocates functions that we offer to our community:
SPAY/NEUTER CLINICAllowing us to return to directly providing surgeries for our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program clients and LMAS’ Return to Field (RTF) cats;
MEDICAL REHABILITATIONAllowing us to directly provide short-term care for community cats now being hospitalized and/or boarded at clinics throughout our community;
SPECIAL NEEDS/HOSPICE FOSTER CAREAllowing us to house the small number of community cats for whom return to outdoor life is inhumane in a location adjacent to LMAS’ adoption facility, providing easy access for citizens interested in adopting these special animals;
STAFF/CONFERENCE/PROGRAM SPACEReplacing current leased space.
