Summer, 2020 Dear New St. M. Families, Spanish language instruction begins in second grade with lessons on basic vocabulary and culture. Similar lessons continue through the third and fourth grades. The fifth grade curriculum is a traditional beginning Spanish language instruction. All students coming into Spanish classes in the Lower School are treated as new Spanish language learners, with instruction in the most basic grammatical forms with ample review at the beginning of each year. Therefore, we believe that students entering grades 2-5 will be able to manage the Spanish coursework no matter where they are. For those families who wish to prepare, Deirdre Gill, our Lower School Spanish instructor, has created a set of summer assignments. Please know that these assignments are purely optional. Have fun with these activities, and we will all share what we have learned when we come back to school! Choiceboard: Complete any or all of the following activities (all grades)
