Festivities

Christmas In 24th we are usually have dinner with all the family. The next day, 25th there is a great and huge lunch. Then, the 31st, the last day of the year, we make a lot of noise because of the dinner we prepared and the confetti we throw. Then we clean all the dirt. The last important day of Christmas is the night of the 5th , when the Three Wise Men come and they bring us presents. On those days we are usually eat beef, pork, lamb, shellfish, turrón, mazapán and all kind of sweets you can imagine.

Easter At Easter we celebrate the death and resurrection of Christ. All the family meet together on Holy Thursday and we eat potage. Then on Good Friday we can’t eat meat because it’s a tradition. Until Sunday we don’t finish that festivity. The most beautiful thing of Easter are the parades of the saints that go all over the towns. In Seville, Easter is one of the most important festivities since the people even cry if it’s raining.

Carnival The most original of this festivity is that we wear really beautiful or impressive dresses. We go to the street where there are some parades of very big groups of people with the same clothes, they are amazing!!!! The best-known Spanish Carnival is in Cadiz with the great chirigotas. Another important one is the one in Tenerife.

San Fermín It is a festivity in Pamplona. It involves running through streets of Pamplona in front of a group of bulls until they get to the bullring. Then, in the afternoon, those bulls are killed by bullfighters. We don’t like this festivity at all because some animals suffer and are killed. San Fermín makes many foreign people to come to Spain because they want to know what you feel in front of a bull.

April fair It is a particular fair in Seville. It’s one of the best nown fairs around Spain. There are lots of amusements for kids and then for adults there are many bars where you can find people singing songs while others dance. It is supposed to be really exclusive because if you want to enter one of these bars you need to have a relative there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwG2ulEIHnY

Fallas Typical festivity in Valencia. People make some figures of the politicians, footballers or incredible monsters in order to have fun. Many of the figures are amazing. The saddest of all is that the last day, all the figures are burnt. It’s a pity.

Television

Aquí no hay quien viva It is a TV show about a block of flats where everybody wants to disturb the other neighbours. It was quite funny; even another channel bought the series in order to have more viewers. The other TV serie is called La que se avecina where the favourite characters are Antonio Recio and Amador.

Se lo que hicisteis In my opinion it has been one of the best TV shows ever in the Spanish television. It was about the present situation and it criticized the yellow press. It cost the channel many fines although the program was right. They made more than a thousand programs, first weekly, then daily. There are other similar programs like Asi nos va or El Intermedio, which is a successful one at prime time.

Saber y Ganar It is one of the longest lasting TV shows ever in the Spanish Television. It has been on for14 years and we think it won’t finish. The host looks as old as he used to when the TV show started. Many people say he is immortal. It is a really interesting program of questions and answers.
