Study Abroad OpportunitiesAt Clemson, study abroad offers something for everyone. Study abroad programs are available during fall, spring and summer, and can last from two weeks to a full academic year. While abroad, you will earn credits toward your degree and internationalize your Clemson Experience.

Faculty-led ProgramsTravel and study abroad with Clemson’s outstanding faculty members. Programs range from two weeks to a full semester. On these programs, you will be enrolled in Clemson courses and will pay in-state tuition and program fees to Clemson University.

Exchange ProgramsClemson has agreements with universities throughout the world that allow our students to study abroad while paying in-state tuition and fees! Many institutions offer classes in English as well as the local language.

Third Party ProgramsThese programs are run by other universities and various study abroad organizations. Our office works with you to find the right fit for your academic and personal goals. You can receive credit for courses taken abroad, and you pay fees to the third-party organization.

Safety and Security

Financing Study Abroad

The Study Abroad Office has policies and procedures in place to help protect the safety and well-being of study abroad students. All participants are covered by study abroad insurance for the duration of their program. In addition, all students attend pre-departure orientation before their experience begins, and Clemson police phone support is available to students 24/7 while they are abroad.

Do you currently have scholarships, loans or grants? Many of these can be used to help cover the cost of your study abroad experience. There are also many scholarships available to students going abroad!

Myth #1: I can’t afford it– FALSE!Many scholarships, grants and loans can be used for study abroad. On exchange and faculty-led programs you pay in-state tuition and fees, even if you are an out-of-state student.

Myth #2: I won’t graduate on time– FALSE!You will receive academic credit for your study abroad experience that can go towards your major or minor requirements. Study abroad courses are available to all majors at Clemson.

Myth #3: I need to speak a foreign language– FALSE!We offer many programs in English that are not limited to Australia or the United Kingdom. Study abroad can also be a great way to learn a foreign language!

Myth #4: I’ll miss out on the Clemson experience– FALSE!An international experience is part of the Clemson Experience!

Myth #5: Study abroad will not benefit me professionally– FALSE!A study abroad experience will improve your resume. You can do an internship or field experience abroad, as well and gain practical, hands-on experience in your chosen field. So go! And globalize your Clemson degree!
