Hou en Trou:

Less than a century ago, there was a time when people believed they could change the world. Regardless what deity they followed - God, Class, Humanity or Race- these people came together in big mass rallies, to sing and march towards a Better Future. We all know what came of these beliefs and ideologies: tyranny, mass murder, and war. Still, the ideologies of the 1920’s and 1930’s, with their symbols, slogans and songs that could mobilize millions, never cease to fascinate us post-modern people of the West, who live in a world without direction or hope. Their songs of a New Order, suffocated in blood, serve as both drawing material and inspiration for the music of Hou en Trou. The band name Hou en Trou is hard to translate, even for speakers of modern Dutch.....

...The word ‘hou’ was first recorded in 1285 and comes from ‘hellen’, which means ‘to love’(in modern Dutch:’houden van’). Trou (modern:‘trouw’) means true, or loyal. From the late Middle Ages, ‘Hou ende Trou’ has served as the Dutch equivalent of ‘Fides et Amor’, parole of the city of Ghent. As time passed however, it’s meaning has changed into something like ‘steadfast under any condition’. Because of its historical background and militant message, the expression has often been used in modern times to stir patrioticfeelings in both Flanders and the Netherlands.

In the 1930s, ‘Hou en Trou’ was the titleof a Dutch Christian-conservative political journal. Under the German occupation 1940-1945, this journal was banned for itsanti-nazi commentaries. On the other side of the political spectrum, the Dutch national-socialist movement NSB also used ‘Hou en Trou’ as a political slogan. Nowadays, the expression is outdated and sounds a bit pompous, if not hilarious. Our music could be described as melodic, analogue, plugged in, wave(ish), military, dark(neo)folkrock. We sing in Dutch. We do not believe in anything, because wbelieve everything.

NIHIL NOVI SUB SOLE is a young Dutch Ambient/Martial/Industrial outfit founded in early 2008 by the German-Dutch Musician Marco.K, who’s already active in the music scene for two decades now, and played in bands such as DEINONYCHUS, BETHLEHEM and DARK SANCTUARY.

NIHIL NOVI SUB SOLE is the embodiment of all fear and lost hope derived in wars, utter violent behaviour and psycho-traumatic events. Ingredients which give the music an eerie but yet melodramatic approach, shifting between different styles; from Dark Ambient with Neoclassical influences, up to pounding Martial-Industrial music, and related genres….

NIHIL NOVI SUB SOLE has in a short period already producednumerous songs which have found their way on the internet, and caught the desired attention of the public and recordlabels. In late 2008 a deal was concealed with My Kingdom Music from Italy, but if that wasn’t enough, a joint venture took place inmid-2009 as My Kingdom Music started to collaborate with a brandnew label from Germany called LICHTERKLANG. The fundament of thiscollaboration just happens to be the release of NIHIL NOVI SUB SOLE’s debut album “Jupiter Temple”…..

So far the only official releases have been a compilation song called “Tannenberg-1914” on the Compilation album “Tribute to the Dead Soldiers Vol.II” by French online label La Caverne Du Dragon, in Summer-2009. In the same period a promo-CD was made solely for magazines and radio stations.

Protea Recordswww.protearecords.jimdo.com/

PROTEA group is divided into 4 sectors, the first "Protea Records"is a record label and distributor, which also acts as a promoter of Spanish bands. The second "Protea International" acts the same way but with international bands. The third is "Protea Art & Org", portal where we expose different artists and designers and photo-graphers willing to work with gangs and with different media, helping to carry to term these projects. This portal also servesas a showcase where you show the different organizations, shops, clubs, etc. .. To move the scene of our country. The fourth section is "Protea Webzine" where we try to show the public whathappens in the international area and in our country, where we find all the news on events and revies, etc ... Protea ultimatelytries to bring the international public to the creations of our country, and try to make our country a little more is known what isbeing done, just trying to attract more public to these genres inour country because we are a little disconnected from certain trends and genres that are moving the international music market.
