 Space and Aviation Wing at Bursa Science and Technology Centre Bursa, Turkey The pull of the skies, the challenge of gravity Bursa Science and Technology Centre’s Space and Aviation Wing is an interpretive experience of international scale. The wing is a response to Turkey’s aerospace aspirations and commitment to science education. AldrichPears developed experiences in the space and aviation wing that would engage visitors with scientific principles. APA situated physical and digital interactive exhibits in dramatic, immersive environments that inspire visitors. The aviation gallery invites visitors to explore the evolution of flight, from hot air balloons to today’ s rockets. The space gallery is a recreation of the cosmos radiating out from a modeled space station environment. All aeronautic experiences bring to life scientific principles—flight, astronomy, and space navigation and research. APA conceiv ed and designed the full exhibit experience. Our firm delivered an interpretive masterplan that includes architectural requirements. APA also provided detailed design documents. The documents include technical plans, audiovisual treatments and educational programs.

This included a master planning exercise that determined the architectural requirements of the new wing; a revised institutional vision statement capturing the wing’s interpretive objectives; and a design concept that incorporated content research, exhibit narrative and visitor experience.     The pull of the skies, the challenge of gravityThe Space and Aviation Wing in the Bursa Science and Technology Centre (BTM) is an interpretive experience of international scale. Conceptualized as a response to Turkeys aerospace aspirations and commitment to science education, the Wings two galleries provide immersive and inspirational interaction with aerospace topics, engaging visitors with scientific principles via innovative exhibits and dramatic interior environments. In the Aviation Gallery, visitors explore the evolution of flight technology, from humanitys earliest aspirations to todays rocket propulsion. The Space Exploration Gallery places visitors in an awesome recreation of the cosmos, with large-scale projections, suspended objects and an immersive space station environment. Scientific principles related to astronomy, space navigation and research are brought to life on the gallery floor.
