Both new and experienced teacher can be challenged in the area of classroommanagement. A teacher can grow skills by identifying areas needingenhancement and designing an individualized action plan for continuous self-improvement. Research-based interventions will be provided for preventingdiscipline problems, using positive interventions, and managing disruptivestudents. Areas of learning will include: knowing the ABCs of behavior;establishing procedures, routines, expectations and rules;maintaining positive teacher-student relationships; using positivebehavioral supports; and improving mental set.

Teachers will learn the ins and outs ofproblem based learning; experience problembased learning as a teacher and then be given theopportunity to develop problem based learning fortheir classroom with support from John Schafer, aveteran PBL teacher whose expertise has beenpraised by many administrators and curriculumdirectors. We are Going WILD!September 14 and 15, 2015

Day 1 is designated for training on the K-12 curriculum. All K-12 teachers willreceive the Project WILD Curriculum Guide.Project WILD is an award winning, classroom tested, quality conservation education that useswildlife conservation as the window to teach students mathematics, science, and language arts.Project WILD is an environmental education program for students of all ages. This program issponsored in Georgia by the Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division whosemission is to assist learners of any age in developing awareness, knowledge, skills, andcommitment to result in informed decisions, responsible behavior, and constructive actionsconcerning wildlife and the environment upon which all life depends.Participants receive a set of instruction manuals which contain 170 hands-on, multi-disciplinary andinstructionally sound educational activities for all grade levels; instruction on how to incorporateclassroom tested activities & lesson plans into their classrooms and suggestions to incorporateconcepts related to people, wildlife and a healthy environment into their classroom curriculum.There are 2 sessions on Day 2. Choose either Growing Up WILD K-2 Curriculum orFlying WILD Grades 6-8 Curriculum .

"Grades 3 -5 and 9-12 will not return on Day 2."Growing Up WILD (Pre-K-2nd grade)Growing Up WILD: Exploring Nature with Young Children is an early childhoodeducation curriculum that builds on children’s sense of wonder about nature andinvites them to explore wildlife and the world around them. Through a wide range ofactivities and experiences, it provides a foundation for developing positiveimpressions about nature while also building lifelong social and cognitive skills.Teachers will receive a complete curriculum guide with 27 activities correlated toNational Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) that includescrafts, art projects, music, conservation activities, reading and math connectionsand much more.Flying WILD (Grades 6-8)Flying WILD is a Project WILD conservation education curriculum for middle-school studentssponsored in Georgia by the Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division.Flying WILD introduces middle-school students to bird conservation through school bird festivalsand hands-on classroom activities. Flying WILD helps teachers by providing interdisciplinary,standards-based lessons that engage students in real-world learning. By participating in FlyingWILD activities, students will gain opportunities to learn and lead. Half of the activities in FlyingWILD are designed to involve students as leaders.Service learning is also an essential part of Flying WILD. The Flying WILD guide includessuggestions, instructions, and resources for doing service leaning activities, such as conducting aschool bird festival and participating in habitat improvement projects. Flying WILD has the potentialto help capture the hearts and minds of middle-school students in Georgia by harnessing theirnatural fascination with birds.

PLU issued for Grades K-2 and Grades 6-8 attending both days.
