LAN (Local Area Network)

• LAN, abbreviation for Local Area Network, is a type of network in which several computers are connected locally in one area, such as your home, an office building, or a computer lab (such as this one).– To establish a local area network in an area, the

computers need to be plugged up with an Ethernet cabling and have a Wi-Fi connection (two of the most common technologies used)

WAN (Wide Area Network)

• WAN, abbreviation for Wide Area Network, is a type of network in which several computers are connected in a broad area using public or private transports, such as a business or college campus.

Wireless/Access Points

• A wireless network allows an electronic device to exchange data wirelessly over a computer network.– Any wireless device can connect to the Internet

through an access point.• An access point device that allows wireless devices to

connect to a wired network using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or any similar standard.
