Lions Close Out Road Swing at AMCC Southeastern will look to bounce back from a tough loss at Central Arkansas when the Lions wrap up a two-game road swing at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the American Bank Center. UCA’s Jordan Howard’s 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left lifted the Bears to a 68-66 win over the Lions on Saturday.Southeastern (13-11, 6-5 Southland) lost despite a 24-point effort by Lions sophomore guard MarlainVeal. Veal also had a career-high five 3-pointers and added seven rebounds and five assists. Junior forward Eddy Polanco contributed 18 points and six rebounds. Senior Dominic Nelson also had seven rebounds for the Lions. Lending A Hand TheLionswereafamiliarsightinthecom-munityduringtheoffseason. The Lions, as well as members from theentire Southeastern athletic program, spenthours helping move furniture from floodedhomes, tearing out sheetrock and deliveringsuppliestothoseinneedfollowingthehistoricalfloodinginsoutheastLouisianainAugust. InJuly,theSoutheasternmen’sandwomen’sbasketballteamsinteractedwithagroupofareayoung men and women at the annual CampKateriheldattheRosaryvilleSpiritLifeCenter. The Lions and Lady Lions not only playedbasketball with the campers but also wentcanoeingandbicycleridingwiththemaswellascompetinginkickballandvolleyballmatches. And in March, the basketball squad wereamong the student-athletes from throughoutthe program who were on hand at TuckerElementary’sannualFieldDayinPonchatoula. TheLions alsohelped servemeals atHolyGhost School in conjunction with CafeteriaWorkersAppreciationWeekinOctober.
