Teaching the Rules

We are currently in the process of making a video sharing what expectations look like and do not look like to view and discuss at a school-wide assembly the first day back in January.

After assembly, teachers will take classes through the 7 stations listed on matrix.

Each station will have a staff member who will have students model both what expectations look like and what it does not look like.

A poster showing the expectation will be posted at each of the locations listed on the matrix.

Students will have a fun learning assignment to complete after reviewing each session. Ex: word search, crossword, coloring sheet, etc.

We will continue to revisit an expectation clip each week during our morning announcements so teachers can review and discuss in the classroom for added reinforcement.

Incentives!!!

Caught Being Fishy! Tickets

All staff will have lanyards with tickets to pass out to students following our fishy expectations. Students will write their name & teacher on the back of ticket and place in a classroom fishbowl.

Teachers will send home 1-2 postcards per year for every child in their classroom sharing how the child is following our fishy expectations.

Incentives!!! Caught Being Fishy – Whole Class

Classrooms may earn a “class ticket” for exceeding or meeting the expectations in a specials class, walking in the hall or from a staff member who acknowledges behavior throughout the day.

Every 6 weeks we will choose the two classrooms who have the most “class tickets”

to earn time with Mega Pete!

Acknowledgements

We will have an assembly every 6 weeks to acknowledge our students for following our expectations. “Clark the Shark” our school mascot will attend each

assembly to help with acknowledgements. Students whose names are drawn in their classroom

will be acknowledged at our assemblies. Example: participate in assembly or special seating.

10 students from each grade will be chosen to eat lunch on the stage at the “Under the Sea” café.

A few students will be chosen to either be: A Gym Assistant for ½ day An Office Assistant for ½ day

Fishbowl Fridays – 2x a Month – Fish Music

Principal will choose two random students from those who have been acknowledged for following the expectations to receive –

Gift Certificate from local business

Names on scrolling announcements

Bulletin Board Students who were selected from the fish

bowl to participate in our school-wide assemblies will have their picture taken and placed in our main hallway on a special bulletin board. These pictures will change every 6 weeks.
