Hiring an honest, capable Contractor to handle your remodeling project is essential for avoiding a disastrous result. But how can you check out the prospects before you hire them? It’s not as difficult as you might think. Here are some important steps that can help you avoid hiring the wrong Contractor:

1. Check with the California State Contractor’s License Board regarding the license number for all prospective Contrac-tors. The website is www.cslb.ca.gov

2. Verify that the license is valid and in good standing. Some scam artists think you will not check to find out if their license was suspended or if they really have one.
