* Willing to learn and being the best I can be * Showing respect and concern for others Mr Harvey has returned to work this term, following a well earned break of LSL during Term 1. Mr Harvey is finding lots of “new” things at SBPS, that have happened while he has been away. Today Mr Harvey, along with the Year 1 Room 15 class, looked over the enhancement work taking place between the Library and The West Wing block. The lawn has been removed and a pathway and seating area have been placed around the two existing trees. Further work will be done over the coming weeks to complete the changes to the area. Students from Room 15 give the new look the “thumbs up”. During the holidays, the boys and girls and staff toilets have been repainted. Room 9 has had new carpets, blinds and painting also. It is great to be back at school with the staff and students. It is a pleasure to visit classes and see the learn- ing and opportunities that are happening. We “hit the ground running” - now that’s a good school. Pictured above— Room 13 at Phys Ed, Room 3 during English Comprehension and Rooms 4 & 5 students. This term the year 5's are studying the novel “Tom Appleby Convict Boy” by Jackie French. The students are exploring the various themes the book covers and, in particular, what it was like to be a convict on the First Fleet, here the students are completing a prediction activity using their prior knowledge of Australian history as well as the illustrations on the front of the book. Give a Damn, Give a Can

Please make your payments at the school office. EFTPOS and Direct Deposit is available. Please help us reach our goal of

100%. Thankyou to the many families who have paid their voluntary contributions for 2017 already.

Every cent helps us to provide resources for each child at our school.

Our aim is to reach 100%.

So far our collection rate is 37%.

The “Give a Damn, Give a Can “ project is an important annual event that is organised by the Rotary

Club of Bunbury Leschenault. This project aims to collect items of food, such as pasta, rice, baked beans, meals in a can,

toiletries and baby products. By getting involved in this project, collectively we can show our compassion and generosity, 2 of

our Virtues, by offering to help those in our wider community who are less fortunate than ourselves.

All donated items will be distributed to the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul and the In Town Lunch Centre.

Students who donate to the cause will receive a faction slip for their support of community. There is a collection box in the office

and in the Early Childhood area in PP2.

Be warned—the Shire Ranger is frequently patrolling the school area before and after school following complaints from

local residents about parents parking incorrectly and blocking driveways of our neighbours. Staff have seen the Ranger

place fines on offending cars. Do not park in the staff parking area off Prosser Street or block the entrance to this parking

area. Please help parking congestion by using the “kiss and drop” lane off Queen Street and respect our neighbours by not

blocking their driveways.
