THE SOUTH AFRICAN COUNCIL FOR THE ARCHITECTURAL PROFESSION

• SACAP is the regulatory authority for the architectural profession, established under the Architectural Profession Act 44 of 2000

• Architectural professionals are required by law to be registered with SACAP, and once registered they are accountable to SACAP in terms of providing services to the public

• Registered persons have a responsibility to practice in a professional and ethical manner, both for the benefit of the public and the profession as a whole governed by the Scope of Conduct, B.N 154 of 2009

The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP)

A statutory body established by an Act of Parliament and Governed by The Architectural Profession Act, No 44 of 2000.

REGISTRATIONS

• SACAP has 8919 active members on its database.• The total number is the combination of all categories; Candidates and

Professionals in Draughtsperson, Technologist, Senior Technologist and Architect.

• All categories pay an annual fees per year.• SACAP suspends membership of the Registered Persons (RPs) for

non-compliance in terms of sec 20 of the Act.• All suspended RPs are responsible for the re-registration after being

suspended.• There is a penalty fee for re-registration.
