We’ll then head to Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa and the historic heart of the country’s wine region. A gracious blend of 18th-century Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian buildings is evident on Dorp Street, where massive oaks still shade original water furrows. SUNDAY, 26 MARCH STELLENBOSCH TO OUDTSHOORNEnjoy an early breakfast and then we de-part on our overland Garden Route Tour. Travel along the N1 Highway and over the beautiful Du Toit’s Kloof Mountain Pass. The routing takes you through the farmlands of Worcester and Ashton to the quaint village of Montagu. A stop is made en-route for lunch (own expense). On arrival visit one of the Ostrich Show Farms in Oudtshoorn. Here you can ob-serve large flocks of Ostriches at different stages of development. A drive through the city to view the rich history, such as the Castle of Good Hope and Cape Town City Hall. The tour stops at the beautiful St. George’s Cathedral and then takes you through

the colourful Bo-Kaap, also known as the Malay Quarter. A visit to the top of Table Mountain to enjoy magnificent views of the city and Cape Peninsula. Return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure. This

THURSDAY, 23 MARCH FULL DAY CAPE PENINSULA TOURAfter breakfast depart on a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula. This includes a visit to Hout Bay Harbour, an authentic fishing village followed by a scenic drive to Cape Point where you visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, a World Heritage site located at the end of Cape

Town’s south peninsula. Enjoy a funicu-lar ride to the lighthouse at 286 metres above sea level. This is Cape Point, where, by tradition the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet.

The drive continues to Simonstown for lunch at the Two Oceans Restaurant. After lunch, visit Boulders Beach, home of an endangered land-based colony of African penguins (over 2 000 of them). Walk along the sheltered beaches on boardwalks, which link to the penguin-viewing area offering sightings of these unique and endearing animals in their natural habitat.

The tour ends with a visit to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Rich and varied displays of Southern Africa’s plant life (more than 7 000 species). Paths are set out throughout the garden allowing you to easily wander past the natural displays.Overnight: The Portswood Hotel (B,L)

FRIDAY, 24 MARCH HALF DAY ROBBEN ISLAND TOURAfter breakfast make your way to the Nelson Mandela Gateway where you board the ferry to Robben Island.

Robben Island is best known as the place where Nelson Mandela and many other famous anti-apartheid activists were imprisoned. For this reason it is today a world heritage site; however it has always been a place of isolation for those not accepted in society and has in its past been home to a leper colony and a mental hospital. On the Island you will visit the maximum security prison and explore the island on a 45-minute bus tour accompanied by an experienced guide. Upon your return make your own way back to your hotel, which is within walking distance. The remainder of the day is at leisure.Overnight: The Portswood Hotel (B)

SATURDAY, 25 MARCH START OF OVERLAND TOUR THE CAPE WINELANDSAfter breakfast depart on your overland tour first visiting the Cape Winelands. The day starts with a visit to Paarl which made headlines when President Mandela was released from the Groot Drakenstein prison (ex Victor Verster), on the outskirts of the town, to freedom and the start of the new South Africa. We enjoy a wine tasting and cellar tour at one of the local estates.

Travel to Franschhoek founded in 1688 by French immigrants fleeing the Hu-guenot religious persecution in Europe. A memorial in the town commemorates the arrival of these early settlers who helped develop the wines sought after by Napoleon, Bismark and royalty such as Edward VII and the Prince of Wales. Here we will stop for lunch (own expense) and another wine tasting at a vineyard.

Ocean. Enjoy a trailer ride to top of the Western Head and walk back through Milkwood trees. On completion of the trail guests head to the restaurant set on the edge of the lagoon for a sumptuous lunch. Return to your hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure. WEDNESDAY, 29 MARCH KNYSNA TO PORT ELIZABETHBreakfast at the hotel. Travel to Plettenberg Bay to enjoy an Eco-Marine Trip. We go out in search of dolphins and whales and other sea life. Continue to Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary for a guided tour. Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary in South Africa is the World’s

first free-roaming, multi-species primate sanctuary. More than 450 primate’s free-roam the Monkeyland’s forest. Depart for Port Elizabeth where you spend the night. Enjoy Dinner at the hotel.
