In the Catholic Church, a novenaconsists of prayers or actions over nine successive days. The pro-life novena is an opportunity for recollection and reparation in observation of the anniversary of Roe v. Wade—the Supreme Court deci- sion that made abortion legal throughout the United States. The overarching intention of the novena is the end to abortion. Each daily intention highlights a related topic and is accompanied by a reflection, educational information, and suggested daily actions. The novena encompasses the annu- al Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children on January 22. All are invited to sign up at www.9daysforlife.com. Participants can choose to receive the novena via email, text mes- sage, a printable version, or through a free "9 Days for Life" mobile app (with customizable reminders) in English or Spanish. Participants can share their pro-life witness and invite their social networks to pray on social media with the hashtag #9DaysforLife. A leaders kit is available, and features the daily prayer intentions and reflections, among other resources. Sponsored by the Committee on Pro-Life Activities of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, 9 Days for Life began in 2013 in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. Christ the Servant Parish Canton, OH

Despite the nasty weather, we had a good week for our food drive. We collected 338 lbs. of food, 48 lbs. of clothing and 32 lbs. of toiletries. That gave us a total of 418 lbs. So I think Catholic Charities will be very grateful when we deliver to them this week. So even through snow and ice all of you still brought food for our charities. Thank you very much for your great generosity.

As football fans focus on the Super Bowl, we will focus on a super demon-stration of love and sharing by helping feed those in need – it’s the fifth annual Souper Bowl Sunday event. On Feb. 1 and 2, the Homeless Outreach/Hunger Ministry asks that each family, if they are able, to put a can of soup in addition to their normal donation into the bag provided in the bulletin and help fill the carts. The goal remains to deliver a super donation of additional food to help stock the shelves of Hope Outreach and Catholic Charities for this long winter. Help drive the Christ the

Servant Parish family cross the goal of being a souper bowl champion for our neighbors strug-gling to feed their

families. The Homeless Outreach/Hunger Ministry Team.

St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Middle School is rooted in a Tradition of Truth, Scholarship and Excellence that has carried on throughout the decades. STA has two

tradition of faith! On Saturday, Febru-ary 1, STA alumni will come together for an Alumni Mass. Mass will be held in the STA Chapel at 4 p.m. Alumni and their families, as well as any family inter-ested in learning more about STA are also invited to stop by for a Spring Open House! Guests will walk the halls, meet with faculty and students, learn about tuition assistance and scholarships and see the Aquinas Advantage up close and personal. Spring Open House will be held on Sunday,

OUTREACH SUNDAY Last Sunday, our PSR families gathered for an Outreach Sunday of service, making cards and rosaries. The rosaries will be distributed to hospitals, nursing home, priests, and even shipped to priests and churches in Africa. The cards will be sent to the homebound members of our parish and others throughout Stark County that are terminally ill. Our goal was to make 50 rosaries and 100 cards. Outreach Sundays are used for group service projects and sometimes as a way for families to gather individually in service. These take place along with our regular PSR sessions and Mass and More days.

This weekend the Diocese of Youngstown is holding the Church Overseas Combined Collection for ministries of the Church around the globe. These ministries of Catholic Relief Services [CRS], Holy Father/Peter’s Pence, the Church in Central and Eastern Europe and the Church in Latin America assist the Church in serving people who are hungry, refugees, victims of natural disasters, and devel-opment projects. Please give generously to this collection which combines four collections in one.
