February 22nd, is observed as "International Mother Language Day " .The

Student council team [Daksha], the student council organized an event

called "International Mother Language Day " It was first announced by

UNESCO on November 17, 1999 It was formally recognized by the United

Nation General Assembly with the adoption of UN resolution in 2002 .It

was our great honor to Have our Principal Dr. Suresh C Hagadi Sir and all

the faculty members and all the students have participated in this event. Some

Awareness Program on socio economic

Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized a one week awareness program on

cybercrime from 13th to 18th January 2020. The program was organized by the department of

computer science to the students of Totadagudadahalli Government School and Soundarya PU

College.

The program outcomes were as follows:

1. To increase its preventive capabilities in the fight against cybercrime

2. To specialize in early warnings, cybercrime treat assessments and awareness-raising

methods.

3. Encourage women and children to engage themselves in promoting cyber safety

4. Review the issues and dangers women and children face on the internet.

Community Development Activity –

Awareness on diseases caused by Mosquitoes & Prevention

On 18th of July 2016, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized an awareness

program on diseases caused by Mosquitoes & its Prevention. The service was about creating

awareness on prevention of mosquitoes, Cleaning the dump and distribution of mosquito’s

prevention sprays and coils. Service was held at Madanayakanahalli slum, Bangalore

The students of I BBA collected funds from SIMS staff, students and also from public in

Jalahalli, 8th Mile and Nelamangala.

Community Development Activity

On 05th of November 2019, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized a

Community Development Activity at Government High School in Chikkabanavara, Bangalore.

The objectives of the activity were as follows:

1. To inculcate the sprite of service among students.

2. To overhaul value system.

3. To motivate students to perceive the unrelenting life styles.

The community Development Club conducted awareness campaign on “Using social media

smartly”, “Reducing wastage of food” and “Mosquito caused diseases and preventive

measures”.

On 28th of February 2019, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized a

community development activity based project of social welfare at Nirashritha Parihara

Kendra; about 45 students from B.com 6th Semester took part in it.

project of social in Nirashritha Parihara Kendra.

– A Beggars Rehabilitation Colony

On 31st of March 2018, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized an Extension

Activity – “A Beggars Rehabilitation Colony.”

60 students of B.Com visited A Beggars Rehabilitation Colony near Magadi road,

Sunkadakatti, Bengaluru – 560091. The students along with Mr. Lokesh G Angadi visited 158-

acre Rehabilitation center along with the officials of the Social Welfare Department (SWD)

and BDA.

The students of Soundarya Institute of Management & Science served food and old cloths to

the people and interacted with them finally the students felt about their lives.

Creating awareness among villagers about Insurance & Banking

On 05th of February 2019, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized an

Extension Activity 2019 – “Creating awareness among villagers about Insurance & Banking at

Bhaktharahalli, a village near Doddaballapur district.

The event was conducted by the department of commerce, around 40 students from I, II and III

years students visited the village. The students gave few insights og housing loans, agricultural

loans and education loan.

‘Cleanliness and Hygienic Practice’

On 09th of March 2019, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized an extension

activity along with the students of 4th semester B.Com lead by Mrs. Prithvi Heggade, Faculty

of commerce department.

The activity was for the school kids of Government Primary School, Tharabanahalli,

Dodabalyakere Cluster, Bangalore North to create an awareness regarding ‘Cleanliness and

‘Faith Foundation – Elder Health Care Center’

On 04th of October 2017, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized an

extension activity to Faith Foundation – Elder Health Care Center, Near Neema Optical, Vijya

Bank Layout, Bannerghatta road, Bangalore along with Prof. Ramesh D with the students of

1st semester B.Com.

The students served the eatable food and old clothes to the people and interacted with them

finally our students felt about their life.

– “Mind Reading Computers”

On 30th of January 2020, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized an

Extension Activity 2019 – “Mind Reading Computers” for the students of Government Model

Primary School, Mallasandra, Bangalore.

The event was led by Prof. Sheela DV in order to being awareness among the students of the

current information technology and also working knowledge. Nearly 20 laptops were carried

by the BCA students to explain about the technology. The students of class 7 actively

participated in the session. Ten groups were made each group has 2 coordinators and 2 laptops.

‘Visit to old age home and rehabilitation center’

On 12th of January 2018, being the National Youth Day in order to sensitize Social

responsibility among youth, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized an

extension activity to a NGO – Navachethana old age home and rehabilitation center at

Basaveshwara Nagar, Bangalore.

The Department of Commerce did a need based study on the NGO and provided 25 rubber-

sheets to be used on the mattress at the old age home. They also provided 22L water purifier

from Kent. Groceries required for a month as per their needs was offered to the inmates.

Besides all the fun and frolic the students had for the elders, they were also offered a pouch of

healthy eatables.

This community service left the students and the staff pondering over the words ‘Share & Care’,

which gives a sense of commitment and contentment at the end of the day.

Extension Activity – “Veer Jawaan Thuje Salaam”

On 21st of February 2019, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized an

Extension Activity – “Veer Jawaan Thuje Salaam”.

The activity was initiated by the students of BCA who had taken a procession and street play

on 21st February 2019. In order to create awareness among society to respect and show tribute

to soldiers, the procession started from SIMS campus to

Siddedahalli Bus stop.




Students acted the street play near the bus stop and collected an amount of Rs. 18,000/- to be

donated to CRPF soldier Guru Family in Maddur who was assassinated during Pulwama attack

on 14th of February 2019.

The students of IV sem BCA from Soundarya Institute of Management and Science organized

Extension Activity on 19-03-2018 at Shastriya Deaf and Dumb School, Mahalaxmi Layout,

Bangalore, under the co-ordination of Divyashree D Asst. Prof Dept of Computer Science.

The Extension Activity theme was on “CASHLESS TRANSCATION “. The students

explained about cashless transaction PAYTM and its procedure of usage. Shastriya school

students gave very good response in learning the usage of cashless transaction paytm. The

activity was successfully ended by distributing some stationeries and chocolates to students.

On 17th of February 2020, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science along with the

department of commerce organized a program on “Soundarya towards Social Service” in

Association with NSS by inviting Deepa Foundation. Which is doing exceptional service for

Divyangana students. On this occasion students of Deepa foundation gave a cultural

program and exhibited their unique abilities and talent. Institution gave financial

assistance Rs.25000/- to Deepa Foundation.

Unity in Diversity – An Inter Departmental Fest

On 9th of March 2020, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized an inter-

Departmental fest called “Unity in Diversity – Culture among nations 2019”.

More than 700 students took part in this mega event. The students of different programs

represented the culture, attire, education system, currency, weather, importance of various

Nations.

The chief guests for the event were Mrs. Anusha - Mrs. South India, Mrs. Saraswati – Kalya

School of dance and Mrs. Anuradha Bhat – Prof. Tourism Management. A total cash price of

Rs. 6,000 was handed over to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd price

winners for the best attire.

On 14th of February 2020, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized a Special

Guest Lecture on “Behaviours Transitional Education” by Prof. M. Siddhananda. Prof. M.

Siddhananda is a lecturer at SJRC College.

The speaker said that the goal of education is to transform such attitudes into sophisticated

community in which human beings; especially students have different animal qualities.

ONAM CELEBRATION FOR THE YEAR 2019-20

On 09th of September 2019, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science along with the

student’s association club organised ONAM festival celebration in the campus.

The festive mood had all the student’s as well as the teachers bring colours to the campus with

the ethnic dresses and games. Students of all departments took active participation in the event

along with the lectures.

Kalangan Utsav 2018 - 2019

Soundarya Institute of Management and Science, Organized Kalangan Utsav for students from

22/04/2019 to 26/04/2019 at Amphitheatre, SIMS.

This celebration went for a week and the concluding day was celebrated as Ethnic Day i.e. on

27/4/19.

Events like Face Painting, Tattoo Designing, Saree Draping and Hair style, nail Art and

Vegetable Carving where organized in presence of Dr. Suresh C Hegadi , Principal , SIMS and

Judges for the respective events.

On Ethnic Day, all students came well dressed. Fashion Show event was held and Mr and Miss

Soundarya was declared for the year 2018-19. Students and Faculties enjoyed the event.

Every year college provide opportunities to showcase and enhance the individual potential and

achievements.

Talent’s Day 2018 - 2019 - YUVA KALARAVA

Soundarya Institute of Management and Science, Organized Talents Day for the students from

05/08/2018 to 16/08/2018 at Amphitheatre, SIMS.

The day was colourful with cultural programs. The Talent’s day was a day that was filled with

Excitement, Joy, Music, Enthusiasm, Laughter and Happiness. This celebration started at 11

am with opening prayer of goddess Saraswati with Lamp Lightening by Dr. Suresh C Hegadi,

Principal SIMS followed by the welcome address. The Talent’s day was celebrated with fun

and masti. All the events were artistically and beautifully presented in colours as well as style.

Dr. Suresh C Hegadi, Principal in his presidential address motivated students as “Everyone has

a unique talent or skill at which they truly excel. Today is the day to embrace those ability and

show them off”. He also encouraged them to take part in extra-curricular activities so that they

can enhance their talents proving it to be beneficial in their future. He wished students and

graced the event.

In competitive times, every flair, talent or skill is a feather in one’s cap. A college responsibility

is to provide opportunities to showcase and enhance the individual potentials and

achievements.

Visit to an Orphanage

On 16th of October 2019, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized a visit to

an orphanage need base India near Gangondanahalli.

The event was led by the post graduate department with 50 students taking active participation.

The visit was to Sri Sai Baba Sevashrama Trust. The students provided the orphanage with

clothes, biscuits, snacks and other daily items.

On 20th of March 2018, Soundarya Institute of Management & Science organized a visit to a

Government Hospital for the students of 2nd Semester B.Sc. A batch of 16 students along with

a faculty member had visited the hospital.

The important issues which were discussed with the women and their family during the visit

are:

1. Post Natal Nutrition: Best Foods to Eat after having baby.

a. Source: Aim forfeit seven servings of protein every day of high quality (organic

if possible) red meat, chicken, seafood, beans, eggs, soy and/or legumes.

b. Source: Great sources of calcium include diary (Milk, cheese, yoghurt) green

leafy, vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, kale) and soy products like tofu.

time with orphanage students by playing with them and teaching about government schemes and

Aim:

To bring awareness among young girls about Good touch and bad touch

Description about Activity:

On account of Women’s Day, awareness programme about good touch

and bad touch was conducted in Government School, mallasandra on 13/3/2018.

The session was delivered by II semester BCA students under the guidance of

Sheela D V. The girls of class 5 to class 8 attended the session and they were

educated about different touch which feels good and bad and also how to protect

themselves from bad touch. Today’s young girls are future woman, so awareness

program was done to them and also sanitary napkins were distributed to 100

girls.

Conclusion:

The awareness programme was conducted effectively in the government school,

mallasandra with the kind cooperation of School Principal and teachers. The

students were educated about different touch and self-defines to rescue with such

situations. It was an interactive session and many queries were solved to the

school students.
