The Matrix (1999)• Dialogue in trailer – allows audience to understand

the synopsis of film and learn about the characters• Voiceover at beginning of trailer – introduces the

audience to the film• Calm and quiet music, becomes very tense

throughout the trailer• Many sound effects used in the trailer such as an

explosion – emphasising what is happening in the trailer

• Music becomes slightly louder towards end of trailer and builds to a crescendo before the main title appears

Iron Man (2008)• Lively music – hints at comedic aspect of

film• Dialogue – introduced to characters and we

can understand what the film is about• Clanging sound – when Iron Man’s suit is

being made • Music quietens down in certain parts of the

trailer (when people are talking)• Music stays lively but changes – also hints at

action• Explosion sound effect towards end of

trailer

Chappie (2015)• Voiceover at beginning of trailer – helps

audience understand what is going to happen in the film

• Dialogue – introduced to characters, their personalities and their attitudes as well as helping audience understand the synopsis

• Robot has very stereotypical voice – slow speaking and the voice sounds electronic

• Music is quite fast-paced towards middle of trailer when there are more action shots shown in the trailer and stays like this until the end of the trailer when the main title appears
