Material and finish

Sound attenuators TAP

The attenuator casing is made of galvanized steel sheet. There are splitters located inside the casing, consisting of frame made of galvanized steel sheet and infill made of non-combustible, sound absorbing material (class A1 according to DIN 4102) The surface of the absorbing infill is additionally covered with glass fibre fabric resistant to abrasion. Normally TAP are equipped with flange connections with width of 20, 30 or 40 mm. (depending on the attenuator cross-section). Making the custom sound attenuator with non-typical dimensions is possible on special request. These attenuators are marked with symbol TAPS. In stainless steel version the above mentioned components are made of stainless steel 1.4301 (according to EN 10088).

Application

TAP-X-AA – Sound attenuator with absorbing splitters covered with glass fibre fabric. Particularly suitable for attenuation of sound generated in medium and high frequencies. TAP-X-AR - Sound attenuator with absorption and resonance splitters covered with glass fibre fabric and additionally covered in 50% with galvanized sheet steel. Particularly suitable for attenuation of sound generated in low and medium frequencies. There is a possibility to equip splitters in additional deflectors, which reduce flow resistance (HA, HR)

Air leakage class

The casing of the sound attenuator is made in air leakage class A (according to EN 1751) and allows for using TAP sound attenuators in ventilation systems operating at the pressure of 630 Pa. It is recommended to use TAP sound attenuators at air flow velocities not greater than 12 m/s.

Installation

Normally TAP sound attenuators may be installed in horizontal ductwork with splitters in vertical position. In case of installing the sound attenuators in vertical ductwork or with splitters in horizontal position, such information shall be indicated while making an order. The installation of the sound attenuators is carried out with use of suspensions.

Dimensions

Typical dimensions of TAP sound attenuators are shown on below pages of this data sheet.

Figure 1. Sound attenuators Figure 2. Splitter

1. In case of TAPS sound attenuators with non-typical dimensions, it is recommended to keep the air flow effective area to total cross-sectional area ratio within the range 30-60%.2. In case of sound attenuators with weight up to 320kg, the splitters are installed in the sound attenuator casing. In case of sound attenuators with weight above 320kg, the sound attenuators are designed for self-assembly and delivered in the following form: casing separately + splitters separately. 3. Sound attenuators with custom dimensions are manufactured on request.4. It is possible to order only the splitters (TAL).
