Lesson 8.1 God’s Design for the Human Body
Objective: Students will identify the five senses and the body part associatedwith each. They will describe how Godmade people different from animals.

Lesson 8.2 Ear Anatomy
Objective: Students will identify and labelthe parts of the ear.
The Ear
Outer Ear
The outer ear has 2 main parts: the external ear and the ear canal.
The external ear is the part of the ear thatwe can see on the outside of the head. Ithelps the sound to enter the ear.
The ear canal is a tube between the external ear and the eardrum. It guidesthe sound to the middle ear.
Middle Ear
The middle ear has 4 main parts: the eardrum,hammer, anvil, and stirrup.
The eardrum is a tight surface like the topof a drum. It jiggles or vibrates when thesound reaches it.
The hammer, anvil, and stirrup are thesmallest bones in the body and start tojiggle along with the eardrum when soundreaches them.
Inner Ear
The inner ear has many parts including thesemi-circular canals and the cochlea.
The semi-circular canals are curved tubes.
The cochlea is shaped like a snail shell.
The auditory nerve carries the sound messageto the brain. The brain understands themessage.
Lesson 8.3 Sound Waves
Objective: Students will identify sound asenergy. They will identify pitch andexamine factors that determine high andlow pitch.

Lesson 8.4 Hearing
Students will order the steps of hearingand identify the function of each partof the hearing process.
The outer ear is shaped like a funnel thatguides the sound wave into the ear.There is a reason why people whisper inyour ear (Matt.10:27). There is a reasonwhy we turn our ear in the direction ofsound when we want to hear something (Prov. 2:2).
Psalm 88:2 “May my prayer come before you;turn your ear to my cry.”
The shape of the ear did not happen byaccident. It is designed by a creative God.

Lesson 8.6 Healthy Ears
Students will explore ways of keepingtheir ears healthy and preventing hearingloss.
Some simple things we can do to take care of our ears:
*Have ears and hearing checked regularly.*Never put anything into your ear canal! A Q-tip can be used to clean the external ear.*If you have ear pain or something inside your ear, let your parents know right away.*Don’t listen to very loud music. This can damage your ears.*Wear ear protection around loud places.
