Manikaran Sahib
Manikaran is a town located in the Parvati Valley of Kullu district. Manikaran is a pilgrimage centre
for both Hindu and Sikh tourists and is one of the most popular religious places of Himachal Pradesh.
There are temples of the Hindu deities Rama, Krishna and Vishnu. There is also a gurudwara and a
hot water spring. The water of the spring is considered extremely auspicious and believed to have
curative powers. Many take a dip in the holy water to wash their sins. The Gurudwara offers langar
(free food).

Located at the foot of Himalyas in a village in Manali, Hidimba Devi Temple is an ancient temple
dedicated to Hidimba Devi, wife of Bhima, one of the five Pandavas. Hidimba was a rakshas and is
said to have meditated here to eventually attain the status of a Goddess. About 70 meters from the
temple is the shrine of Ghatotkach who was Hidimba and Bhima’a son. It is one of the most visited
holy places in Himachal Pradesh as newly married couples visit this temple to seek blessings of
Hidimba Devi. There is a fair held every month on the birthday of Hidimba Devi.
Bijli Mahadev Temple
Located in the Kullu Valley at a height of 2,460m, the temple has a Shiva Lingam. There is a trek of 3
km to reach the temple offering breathtaking views. Once there, one can see panoramic view of the
Kullu and Parvati valley. There is a 60 feet high staff on the temple that attracts lightning and
shatters the Shiva lingam to pieces. The priest restores the Shiva lingam using butter and sattoo. .
This temple is one of the top places to visit in Himachal Pradesh.

Baijnath Temple
Located in the Beas valley at a distance of 16kms from Palampur, Baijnath temple is dedicated to
Lord Shiva. Built of stone in the shikhara style, it is a fine blend of sculpture and architecture. The
linga enshrined in its sanctum is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in the country. The temple attracts a large
number of devotees during the festival of Shivratri.

Naina Devi Temple is located in Bilaspur District on the top of Naina Hill. According to a legend, it is
one of the 51 shaktipeeths where eyes of Goddess Sati fell. Every year special fair is organised during
Chaitra, Shravan and Ashwin Navratri which attracts millions of devotees from all over the country.
Bhimkali temple
Bhimkali Temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhimkali, an incarnation of Goddess Durga. It is one of the
51 shaktipeeths and it is believed that the ear of Goddess Sati fell here. There is a huge museum
inside the temple which exhibits the exclusive images of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. The Kali Puja is
celebrated here with great zeal and enthusiasm. It is among the top visited temples of Himachal

Jwalamukhi Temple
The temple of Jwalamukhi is dedicated to the goddess Jwalamukhi, the deity of flaming mouth. This
temple is also one of the 51 shaktipeeths where the tongue of Goddess Sati fell. There is no idol
because the Goddess is considered to be residing in the form of flames. Inside the shrine, there is a
pit where several flames are burning in the form of nine ceaseless flames that are named as
Mahakali, Annapurna, Chandi, Hinglaj, Vindhya Vasini, Mahalakshmi, Saraswati, Ambika and Anji
Devi respectively.

Located in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, Chamunda Devi Temple is at a distance of 10 kms
from Palampur, on the banks of Baner River. The temple is dedicated to Chamunda Devi, who is a
form of Durga / Shakti. The term 'Chamunda' has been derived from two words, 'Chanda' and
'Munda', the two demons whom the Goddess killed.
Chintpurni Temple
The temple of Ma Chintpurni is located in Una district surrounded by the Himalayas. It is one of the
51 shaktipeeths and it is believed that the Goddess Sati’s feet fell at this place. The word ‘Chintpurni’
means a remover of troubles and worries. Devotees come here to forget their worries and pray for
blessings. Goddess Chhinnamastika Devi resides in this temple.

Jhakoo Temple
Jhakoo Temple is dedicated to Hindu deity Hanuman. It is located at the top of Jhakoo hill of Shimla.
It is a 2 kms uphill climb from the ridge through the beautiful deodar trees. The temple is built
around the place that has Lord Hanuman’s footprints. It is believed that he took rest here while
looking for sanjeevni booti. A 108 feet statue of Lord Hanuman is also present there.
