1PROLGUE

Samara felt tears slide down her face as the life drained from her

and each second felt like eternity. She glanced at her husband

lying dead a few feet away from her- they had accepted dying,

but not without seeing their daughter one last time. How sad it

is to see you like this. Samara looked up at the woman who had

caused this destruction.You probably remember an event like

this that happened a few years ago, Seneca said. Why,

Seneca we used to be best friends, Samara said sadly,What

happened? Another tear snakes down her face and her body

starts to shake. You destroyed everything when you killed my

husband, Seneca said. He nearly killed my only daughter,

Samara said,He was never the right choice for you. Shut

up!Seneca sneered,I will get what I came here for. Seneca was

beautiful, with blonde hair so pale it looked white, sharp angular

features,and the most eerie blue-gray eyes.She and Samara had

been best friends, before that horrible day when everything in

her life was destroyed by the only person she had ever really

considered family.Now that same person was before her

pleading for her life but Senecas heart held no place for her any-

more . Seneca picked up a small golden box from the groundand opened it.She stared in awe at the beautiful blue diamond, it

was unlike anything she had ever seen and she reached out to

touch it.Ahhh!Seneca pulled her hand back as the gem lit on

fire. Dont bother trying because only one person can touch

that gem, Samara said a sense of wisdom reflecting on her face

as she stared at the tear stained picture frame next toher.Who? Seneca asked.Ill never tell, Samara said. Seneca

pointed her staff at her as a spurt of black magic came out. Ill

never te.., Samara gasped as her heart slowed and soon it

stopped altogether. Seneca picked up the box and left silently

without a second thought, closing the door behind her with a

soft, mindless click.

2ENDINGS AND BEGINNINGS

Camp was so much fun, Kelsey said. Casey turned to look at

her best friend , Yes but I cant wait to get home, Casey said.

Casey was excited to go home, she had missed her parents so

much and somewhere inside her heart she felt like something

bad had happened.She had a great time at camp, it was a nice

break to have after four long years of high school and relax with

her best friend.Casey and Kelsey had been best friends since

kindergarten, yet even Kelsey didnt know Caseys big

secret.Casey was a nagin, a person whos half snake-half

human.Her parents were the king and queen of all snakes and

she was the only one of her kind who was more powerful than

both of them.She had been born with special powers all of

which were inherited from her past ancestors, since tradition

said that each new generation would receive powers from pre-

vious generations to preserve each family line, and Caseys was

the most powerful family line there is. Casey lived in the human

world and had never been in much contact with people like her,

so she was completely oblivious to their rules, she had even

refused to attend the high school for snakes just so she could

adapt more easily into the human world. Casey and Kelsey werethe exact opposites of each other,Casey was slender, with bright

emerald eyes that always sparkled, long black hair all the way

down to her legs, towering height, and her skin was like smooth

cream while most snakes had olive skin.On the other hand

Kelsey was small with golden eyes,short chestnut curls,tan skin,

and she was the most optimistic person you could meet. Finallythe bus came to a stop at Caseys grand white marble mansion,

she hugged Kelsey goodbye and got her luggage from the side of

the bus.Casey looked at her house, she had missed it so much

and she hated ever leaving her rose garden. She sprinted eagerly

to the front door and paused before knocking loudly. She waited

for a few minutes but no one opened the door, Thats weird,Casey thought someone would always be here to open the door

even if he r parents werent home. She pulled the spare key from

a small pot next to the door. Mom,Dad,Casey called opening

the door,Im home. Casey was worried, if her parents werent

at home then the servants should be here but the house was

deathly quiet. Mom!Dad!Max!Carrie!Tori!Aaron!Colby!,Casey called loudly but there was still no response. She pulled

her luggage in and went searching, Max! Casey cried out hap-

pily as her snow-white golden retriever came running up to her.

Oh,I missed you so much, Casey said scooping her up . Casey

had gotten Max as a birthday present last year, her parents

thought it was odd for a snake to have a dog but they hadbought her one anyway. Where is everyone? Casey asked

stroking Maxs head. Max whimpered and jumped out of

Caseys arms, Max wait! Casey said following her. Casey

stopped in her tracks, Max had led her to her parents study andthere were two bodies lying on the floor. Mom, Dad, Casey

said softly walking to the two bodies, she cautiously took her

fathers hand but it was ice cold just like the rest of his body.

Casey gasped and touched her mother finding her just as lifeless

as her father, Caseys heart wrenched and she looked into her

mothers eyes finding a reflection that was not her own. She cap-tured the image in her own eyes and locking it into her memo-

ries, she knew who had done this henious act and when she

found they would not live to see tomorrow.

3Reunion

Casey took her parents bodies and sent them to Sesserlia where

they could have a proper burial with their kind.She picked up

the small picture that had been resting next to her mothers

head. It was of her when she was little, sitting on her fathers

shoulders while her older brother was holding on the hem of

their mothers dress. Casey touched the tears running down the

picture, her mothers tears and the very last tears she would ever

cry. Casey reached for Max, her heart heavy,Max are you

okay?Casey asked searching for wounds and Max licked her

face. Max I have no one but you now,Casey said hug-

ging her,will you support me in my mission. Max let out a sad

bark. She loved Max so much and they had a special bond that

couldnt be broken. Where are the others? Casey asked. They

never showed up, Max said. Casey was the only one in the

family who could understand other animals and to someone else

Max would just be barking, but to Casey her words had more

meaning than that. Casey went to her bedroom and got

her red suitcase with the golden C written on the middle. Her

mother had gotten it special made the first time she went to Ses-

serlia, We have to leave today, Casey said putting a few clothesinside since most of them were already in her camp back-

pack.Casey headed towards her parents bedroom finding all

their special belongings and arranging them neatly inside. She

opened her backpack, finding the secret pocket shed sown into

it and put her parents crowns inside.Lets go, Casey said put-

ting Max on a leash.Casey took her luggage downstairs lockingall the bedrooms and she grabbed had her bag ready to leave

when the doorbell rang.Casey cautiously opened the

door,Chase? Casey said looking at her older brother.Casey is

that you,Chase said.Casey opened the door to let him

inside,What are you doing here Chase?Casey asked irritably.I

heard about their death, Chase said.For goodness sake Chase!at least call them mom and dad now that theyre dead, Casey

said angrily.Casey, Chase said going over to her.Dont touch

me Chase, you left us over a stupid fight and now you come

back after six years when theyre not here anymore, Casey said

taking a step away from him.Casey I did what I felt was right at

that time, not because I wanted to leave and Im backnow,Chase said.Its too late Chase Im leaving and I probably

wont be coming back, Casey said. Wherever youre going Im

going with you Casey,Chase said,no arguments about this.

Casey finally hugged him,I missed you. I missed you

too,Chase said stroking her head. Casey told Chase about her

plan,Youre crazy, Chase said after she was finished,do youreally think well be able to survive in Sancorasia? We have to

or we wont succeed, Casey said, I wont stop until I kill that

doing this alone. Ill get our passports, Chase said pulling hisphone out.

4Broken Relationships

Casey wanted to see Kelsey one last time before she left,they

never had secrets between them except for this one.Are you

sure you want to do this? Chase asked.Im sure, Casey said.

They were driving to Kelseys house in Chases blue mus-

tang,Chase ,can you go above twenty miles per hour?Casey

asked. Absolutely not, not with you in the car.Chase

said.Stop the car, Casey said Why?Chase asked. Just

stop,Casey said.Chase stopped the car and Casey got out and

Chase did too.Casey pulled Chase to the side and got into the

drivers seat,Casey!Chase said shocked.Just get into the

car,Casey replied impatiently.Chase reluctantly got into the

car,Casey sped off at one hundred twenty miles per hour zip-

ping through streets and roads.Casey this isnt safe,Chase

said.We dont have much time,Casey replied.Casey screeched

to a halt at the gateway to Kelseys house,she scanned her vis-

itors pass and went inside. Kelseys house was at the very front

so she didnt have to go very far into the neighborhood,Casey

got out of the car giving Chase the keys.Casey ran past a huge

lawn to Kelseys front door,Casey rang the doorbell a few times

and waited.Hi Casey,Kelseys mother said opening thedoor.Hi, Mrs.Stone is Kelsey home?Casey asked.Yes, Ill get

her, come inside, Mrs.Stone said.No I just need to tell her

something ,Casey said. Mrs.Stone went inside yelling for

Kelsey to come outside.Casey, Kelsey said hugging her, we

have so much stuff to do, in fact I was just about to come

over.Kelsey I have to tell you something, Casey said stoppingher.Come inside, Kelsey insisted taking her hand.No I cant,

Casey said pulling away. Is something wrong? Kelsey asked.

Kelsey remained silent as Casey told told her everything that

had happened.Youre joking, Kelsey said when she fin-

ished.No, Casey said putting a hand to her forehead.Kelsey

gasped as Casey glowed and a golden cobra appeared her fore-head,You never told me, Kelsey said backing away.Kelsey,

Casey said reaching for her arm.Get away from me and get out

of my house! Kelsey said pushing her away.Kell! Casey cried

as Kelsey slammed the door shut.Casey walked away resenting

her fate as each step took her farther and farther away from her

perfect life as it broke into little pieces and left her with only apile of shards.

Life turns into memories that subside into years

Friends start turning into unwanted peers

Will we ever get rid of this soul of tears?

Casey opened the passenger door and got Max out of her car-

rier,she needed something to help her get through this and Max

had always been there for her.Casey,Chase said.Casey.

Casey remained silent, she had lost something very important

and she didnt feel like talking right now.Chase understood his

sisters pain,they had been so close when they were little, never

leaving each others sides before that day that had changed their

lives forever.Casey didnt talk the entire plane ride to the island,

Im sorry, Casey said as they waited for their luggage.For

what?Chase asked.For not speaking, Casey said.Its okay,

Chase said,just dont do it from now on, you dont lokk good

quiet. Casey let out a small smile. Chase gripped Caseys arm

outside,Casey be careful this place isnt friendly to our kind,

Chase said when they stepped onto a crowded street.Itll be

okay bro, Casey said putting a hand on his arm. Chase franti-

cally hired a taxi to take them to their hotel,Hello, my name is

Gordon,the taxi driver said pulling up near Chase. Hi,Chase

said pulling Casey and Max quickly inside the taxi.Is this your

first time in Sancroasia?Gordon asked.Yes and Im sorry for

the rush, Casey replied as Chase yelled instructions at Gordon.Its fine, Gordon said and positioned his mirror on Caseys

face,There arent people as beautiful as you here. Thank

you, Casey said smiling and her dimples showed. What about

me? Chase asked switching spots with Casey.You too sir,

Gordon said and Max let out a cheerful bark. Gordon repos-

tioned his mirror again staring at Casey.Watch out!Casey saidas they nearly hit a tree. Gordon straightened the car again and

gave her an apologetic gaze.Thats it, get out!Casey said.

What?Gordon asked confused.I said stop the taxi and get

out!Casey said irritated.Gordon stopped the taxi and Casey

made him sit in the back while she got into the drivers seat.

Now give me the directions to the hotel while I drive,Caseysaid. Casey drove smoothly as Gordon gave her directions to get

to the hotel,Youre an excellent driver madam, Gordon said

looking at her with awe.And youre a terrible one, Casey said,

In fact you shouldnt be driving a taxi unless youre bent on mur-

dering people. Casey! Chase said giving her a warning look.

No,its fine, Gordon said watching her with a gaze she couldntplace. Casey braked hard into the hotel parking lot,Goodbye,

Casey said getting her luggage out of the back.Wait! Gordon

said catching up with them,heres twenty dollars. Why?

Casey asked. For driving the taxi, Gordon said.Casey laughed

and turned away,Bye!Gordon called after her.They checked

into their hotel getting the penthouse suite,We still need to getSenecas address,Casey said sitting on the bed.I have it,

Chase replied.What how is that even possible?Casey asked.

Seneca #160; was moms best friend when I was little and we

used to come here often to visit her, Chase said. Chase yourethe best, Casey said hugging him.Ive never seen you so

excited to kill somebody,Chase said. I wont kill her but Ill

make her suffer her entire life, Casey said her eyes flaming.

Calm down, Max said jumping into her lap. I cant believe

youre still talking to that stupid dog, Chase said incredu-

lously.Max barked loudly at him and bared her teeth. Chaseordered dinner since Casey decided she was too lazy to pick up

the phone,Chase,where did you get so much money? Casey

asked trying to make eat Max steamed broccoli. Casey Im a

doctor, Chase said. Oh right, but youre so young, Casey

said. Thats what my colleagues say, Chase said. But your col-

leagues are like fifty years old and youre only twenty, Caseysaid. And youre only eighteen but you act like you know just

about everything in the world, Chase said throwing a pillow at

her. I cant help it if Im smart, Casey said catching it. They

both laughed, and Casey fell asleep as soon as her head hit the

pillow while Max crawled in next to her.Chase watched his little

sister sleep, she had grown up so much and he felt as if hedmissed her entire childhood.Hed promised his mother hed

take good care of her should anything happen to them,if only his

father had understood his ambitions then their lives couldve

been so different. Chase still remembered that day,his dad had

wanted him to go to Sesserlia and take over the throne, but he

didnt want to rule over the snake kingdom. He had wanted tobe a doctor,the youngest of all of them and do what he loved

doing best,saving peoples lives.Unfortunately,his father had dif-

he could do it without his help.Now he wished he could fixeverything because maybe he hadnt tried as hard to understand

his father.Chase turn off the light,Casey muttered sleepily.

Chase turned off the light enveloping the room in darkness.

6Crossing Paths

Casey woke up early and pulled on sweats and a green shirt and

took Max for a walk outside the hotel in the morning. Caseys

voice was tired of saying so many good mornings by time she

finally got out of the lobby to the parking lot. She had left a note

for Chase so he wouldnt be worried for her. Max walked along

happily next to her and they were perfectly in step,like a group

of marchers. Is that Gordon? Casey asked as she spotted him

sleeping in a taxi. Casey ran over to the taxi and banged on the

window, Gordon woke with a start, hitting his head on the dash-

board. He saw Casey laughing and came outside,Are you

okay? Casey asked. Never been better now that Ive seen

you,Gordon said feeling his head. Why are you sleeping in the

parking lot? Casey asked smiling. I dont have anywhere else

to go, Gordon said, what are you doing at five in the

morning? Im taking Max for a walk, Casey said. Would you

like to see some cool sightings? Gordon asked starting the igni-

tion. I dont know, Casey said gesturing towards the hotel.

Please, I promise it wont be boring, Gordon said. Okay,

Casey said as he held the door open for her. Madam, now that I

have the pleasure of knowing you could I also know yourname? Gordon asked. Casey, Casey said smiling. Your name

is as beautiful as your smile, Gordon said. Dont try any-

thing,Im a lot tougher than I look, Casey said. Dont worry, I

wont try anything,Gordon said, not yet anyway. Where are

we going? Casey asked. Youll see, Gordon said going into a

dark alley. Casey felt a little uneasy as they turned into adeserted street, Gordon stopped the taxi. What happened?

Casey asked. The taxi broke down, Gordon said,Ill check.

Gordon got out and opened the hood, Casey got out too

curious to see what he was doing. Casey stepped back as he

pulled out a knife,Gordon! Casey said. Gordon backed her up

to a wall pressing the knife against her throat,Ahhh, Gordonscreamed as Max ran over and bit him. Casey tried to run but he

pulled her back slamming her against the brick wall, Casey felt

warm blood trickle down her face. Do you really think your

stupid dog can stop me? Gordon asked locking Max inside the

taxi. What do you want? Casey asked. How could she been so

stupid as to come with him here, Money,which your brotherwill give as ransom in return for you, Gordon said reaching out

to touch her face. Casey slapped his hand away, Why are you so

obstinate my dear? Gordon asked leaning down towards her

face. Casey punched him and Gordon leaned over clutching his

nose as it bled. Casey hurriedly grabbed Max and started run-

ning, Gordon muttered a curse and ran after her, Casey jumpedand dodged as he threw numerous objects at her,Gordon finally

managed to hit Caseys leg with his knife making her fall. Casey

fell on the hard concrete cursing the fact that she couldnt use

her powers here, Casey rolled onto her stomach and noticed apair black nikes in front of her but Gordon was wearing torn

sneakers. A pair of hands helped Casey to her feet and she gri-

maced as the knife cut in deeper. The person pushed Casey

behind them so now she was looking at a black turtleneck.Let

her go, Gordon said. Shes not your property, the person

said. Gordon lunged at him and the person grabbed his arm inmidair and twisted it throwing him across the empty street.

Gordon moaned in pain as he lay on the ground crying for his

mother. Casey started to laugh but the pain was unbearable as

the knife went deeper and she lost her balance. The person

caught her and she looked into a pair of beautiful silver eyes.He

pulled the knife out of her leg throwing it on the ground,Caseywatched as he tied a black handkerchief around her leg helping

her regain her balance. My name is Christian, he said

extending a hand towards her.Casey, Casey said taking it,

thank you, for helping me. Your welcome, Christian said

raking a hand through his jet black hair. Christian dropped

Casey off at her hotel in a black Lexus,helping her to the lobby.Thanks once again, Casey said. Just be careful, Christian

said smiling as he left. Casey watched him go wondering if she

would ever see this wonderful stranger again.

7Unexpected Visitors

Casey limped through the hotel lobby with Max trailing behind

her,Are you alright? the lady at the front desk asked her.

Fine, Casey said. The lady had someone help Casey to her

room sending a first aid box with her. Casey! Chase said as she

came inside the room, where were you? Casey collapsed on

the sofa her leg was in excruciating pain, What happened?

Chase asked taking the black handkerchief off her leg. A little

encounter,Casey said, but I handled it pretty well. Chase

bandaged her leg while she told him about what happened with

Gordon and how she met Christian. What have I told you

about trusting strangers,especially here, Chase said, from now

on youre not leaving my side. Chase its just a little cut,

Casey said. A little cut, youre bleeding more than whats inside

of you, Chase said, If I ever see Gordon again Ill. Calm

down, Casey said, he probably wont be able to get up for

another three months. Ill go find the entrance to Senecas

house, Chase said. Im not staying here, Casey said. Youre

not in any condition to go anywhere, Chase said. Ill just heal

myself, Casey said. Thats too dangerous to do here, Chase

said,Ill find it and then come back to take you with me. Caseyreluctantly agreed and Chase left, taking the rooms keys with

him so she wouldnt try to leave. Casey held the black silk hand-

kerchief now stained with blood, she let out a jet of white light

cleaning all the blood and making it look brand new. Casey

tucked it inside the pocket in her backpack, Casey thought

about Christian with his beautiful silver eyes,long blackhair,strong arms,and the perfectly sculpted face that would be

the greek form of ideal beauty. Casey limped to the bathroom

and took a long shower trying to cleanse away the horrible

events of the morning,she put on a dark blue tank with a short

black jean skirt finishing it off with her favorite blue jacket and

blue all stars.Casey brushed her long hair,shed never needed todry it because it always dried automatically into soft straight,

silky strands. She let it fall loose around her shoulders securing it

with a black headband,I found the entrance, Chase said run-

ning breathlessly into the room as she sat on the bed. Where is

it? Casey asked excitedly. Its behind an old museum and after

that we have to go to the other side of the forest to get there,Chase said, hows your leg? It healed by itself, Casey said not

being able to feel any more pain in her leg. Okay then, lets go,

Casey stared at the sign that said Paltrin museum,it was a old

and crooked building covered in moss and vines.Yuck, what

type of museum is this? Kelsey asked. An old and

deserted one, Chase said. Wheres the entrance? Casey

asked. Chase led them to the back of the building where there

was another door and they pushed on it but it wouldnt budge.

Its not opening, Chase said. Step back, Casey said. They

stepped back as Casey made a tornado of wind sending the door

flying across the sky. Unbelievable, Kelsey said awed. They

went inside,it was pitch black all around them,Anyone have a

flashlight? Kelsey asked. Dont need one, Casey said

spreading a ray of light across the museum. Stop showing off,

Chase said pushing past Casey.They followed Chase to a empty

passageway filled with dusty shelves and old books. Chase fin-

gered the wall sliding each stone to the direction theyd come in,

dream, she saw her parents get murdered before her eyes but

hands overpowered her and held her down, she woke with a

They found a place to set up camp for the day since everyone

was exhausted, Let me help, Kyle said as Casey put up her

tent, I think I can manage, Casey said, thank you for asking.

I could definitly use some help, Kelsey said since shed never

been in the wilderness her entire life. Chase went over to help

her secure her tent, Its really easy, Chase said taking her

hands and guiding her through a series of knots. Casey shot

them a grin and climbed the tree next to her tent, sitting on one

of the branches, she loved the wilderness and the great view you

get from the top of a tree. Her snake side loved it even more and

she had a sudden urge to change, Come down! Chase said.

No way, Casey replied. Christian watched her from the

shadows,she was smiling carefree as the breeze ruffled hair and it

was as if the wind was embracing her. He had never seen a more

beautiful thing. Casey suddenly felt a negative energy in the air

as if someone was watching her. She gasped as the branch broke

Casey pulled her hair into a tight braid and put on her jeans and

sneakers keeping her blue jacket even though it wasnt that cold

outside. She didnt join the others for breakfast and she only

came out when they were packing tents and getting ready to

away. They set off and Max tried to make Casey smile by run-

ning around but it was still to no avail. Casey didnt speak to

anyone,staying far ahead of them and never looking back. I

think you said a little too much, Kyle said. A little, he crushed

her soul, Christian said softly. Hed seen the pain and anguish

on Caseys face last night, How could you do that to your own

Casey opened her eyes to see Kelseys face looming over her.

Shes awake!Kelsey announced happily and hugging her.

Youre crushing my ribs, Casey said trying to get away from

away,Caseys stomach lurched and without warning she threw

up green venom. Thats some messed up vomit,Kyle said

Casey woke up in a wonderful mood, shed never been this

happy since camp when theyd gone water rafting. Someones

in a good mood, Kelsey said as they folded tents. What makes

you say that? Casey asked. Youre smiling for no reason,

Kelsey said nudging her, you never smile without a reason.

Youre just thinking things, Casey said looking away. No,

youre hiding something, Kelsey said. Breakfasts ready,

Chase called to them. Kelsey grabbed Caseys arm to whisper in

her ear as they walked,What happened last night? Kelsey whis-

pered. Nothing, Casey said walking away quickly. Hey! you

made it without falling, Kyle said coming up to her. Shut up,

Casey replied still smiling.You just brightened my day with that

messages waiting for her. Wow,whats this, Casey thought.She read some of the messages,they were all birthday messages

from her friends. Casey hadnt remembered her birthday but

she thought it was best not let the others remember either.

Casey put on her midnight blue dress with diamonds stitched

in,her mother had stitched in actual diamonds so that Casey

would look great on her birthday and her dad had gotten blueheels with velvet lining so her feet wouldnt hurt. Casey thought

of them,they spent months planning her birthday party but

know shed never get to know what this years wouldve been

like, she wanted to wear these so she wouldnt think that shed

disappointed her parents. She let her hair down in curls pinning

them with a barrette. Her heart clenched as she put them,thinking of how lovingly her parents had gotten this for her.She

opened the tent going outside,You look wonderful! Kelsey

said coming to her, whats the occasion? I just missed mom

flowers as they walked down the carpet singing happy birthday.

Christian helped her sit on the throne as Kelsey brought a tiara

on a small pillow, Its so nice, Casey said looking at the tiara. Itwas made of wood with little red painted roses leading to the

middle from both sides and in the middle was a alluring emerald

brooch. Chase placed it on her head, Thank you so much,

Casey said, I think this the best birthday party Ive ever had.

Girl we havent even started, Kelsey said. Kelsey brought out a

chocolate cake with Casey written on top. I didnt think youguys remembered, Casey said looking at the cake. Never could

we ever forget, Kelsey said sneaking glances with Christian and

Chase. Casey can you forgive me now? Kyle asked coming up

to her, please. Fine, Casey said giving him a hug. They had

a wonderful time with lots of laughs and Casey thought it was

the next happiest moment on her list of happy moments. Howdid you ever do this? Casey asked. It was all Christians idea,

Chase said. Yes,hes the one who worked all night to make that

throne and tiara, Kelsey said,we just baked the cake. Casey

felt even more love for Christian, It was nothing, Christian

said blushing. Casey came down off her throne and kissed his

though the air, I think theres a storm coming , Chase said.They hid behind some trees as the wind got stronger and clouds

took over the sky. Kelsey yelped and held on to Chases arm as

thunder shook the sky and Max hid behind Casey. Christian

pulled Casey towards him as lightning hit the tree she was

behind, Stay close, Christian whispered. Suddenly they heard

a voice, You have lost the gem and you will pay! Who areyou? Casey asked cautiously trying to place the familiar voice.

Im Regina protector of the gem, the voice boomed, you

have lost something precious and now you must pay the price.

Casey thought about the snake gem she hadnt seen it in the

house, Ill get the gem back, Casey called to her. You let it

fall into the wrong hands and you must rectify your mistake,Regina said, and until you get it back some of your possessions

will stay with me. They ducked as a twister hit the ground, the

twister sent out a volley of air sucking Chase and Kelsey into it.

Kelsey! Casey called trying to run into the twister but Chris-

tian had her in a strong grip. No,Chase! Casey called again,

please. But Christian wouldnt let her go,he couldnt bear thethought of anything happening to her. And then it was gone the

twister,the voice,the storm,Kelsey,Chase,and only one thing

remained SILENCE.

16Oh, Dear Zombies

Christian finally let go and Casey ran to where the twister had

hit, ChaseChase!, Casey said looking in all different directions

but no one came. Casey ran further hoping they might be here

but there was no one. Casey sat down on the ground finally let-

ting her tears out, Chase was the only real family shed had left

and Kelsey was her sworn sister and now they were both gone.

Casey, Christian said coming to her, itll be okay. No,

youre wrong, Casey said, nothing in my life can ever be okay.

Christian put his arms around her, Let all your pain out, Chris-

tian said, you wont feel better until you do. Casey sobbed

into his chest letting all her anger and frustration out. Kyle

watched them from a distance, he wished Casey had that type of

trust in him but she didnt and it hurt him to see who does have

her trust. They finished folding tents and started walking again

no one wanting to say anything. Casey you shouldnt give up

hope like this, Kyle said breaking the silence. What do I have

left? Casey asked. That lady said you just needed to return

her gem so just get the lady her gem,fulfill you mission,and

tion and a new goal and no one could stop her now. They sat

next to waterfall to rest a little,Casey went inside the water

Casey moved forward and her foot slipped, Casey, Christian

said catching her. They stayed like that and it was as if time had

frozen and they were the only two people on earth, they looked

deeply into each others eyes as if they were sinking into them.

Lovebirds,its time to go, Kyle said breaking their trance. Itold you to be careful, Christian said as they went back. What-

ever, Casey said. They continued walking Max trotting along

calmly beside them, That dog is so annoying, Kyle said. She

doesnt need to hear comments like that, Casey said. How do

you know? Kyle said. She told me, Casey said in her most

serious voice. SHE CANT TALK, Kyle shouted. WHYARE YOU YELLING, Casey shouted back. BECAUSE I

WANT TO MURDER THAT DOG! Kyle said. YOURE

AN IDIOT! Casey exclaimed. Stop it, both of you, Christian

said pushing them away from each other, youre fighting over a

stupid dog. Shes not stupid, Casey said defensively. Okay

fine, Christian said, a wonderful dog. Much better, Caseysaid. Casey watched Max protectively as they walked, and sud-

denly felt that vibe of negative energy again stronger than ever.

Somethings wrong, Casey said stopping. Youre probably

just hallucinating because of that dog, Kyle said and Caseyglared at him. I think shes right, Christian said trying Kyle

from Casys icy gaze. They all stopped walking and listened, it

was eerily silent until Casey jumped back as a head landed near

her foot. What the.., Kyle said as a group of creatures

jumped out from the canopy of trees. They were hideous with

sickly pale skin , scars on their faces and arms,bloodshot eyeswith no pupils. They moved back involuntarily but they were

being surrounded. Christian grabbed one who was coming

towards Casey killing him with a single blow,it disappeared but

eight more appeared in its place. They backed up into each

other as the mutant zombies formed an even tighter circle

around them, one of them came closer and touched Caseysarm. Casey felt an icy feeling go through her and she shivered in

cold,the zombie tried to say something but it fell and died foam

coming from his mouth. Hit their heads, Casey said as she saw

bright blue spot, theres a blue spot on their head. Do you

think Itll work? Christian said. We have to try, Casey said.

She used Chases knife, hitting the spot on a zombie near her,Success, Casey said as no one appeared in its place. Kyle and

Christian did the same thing knocking them out one by one.

Casey had a sudden idea, she climbed up the nearest tree where

she could get a good view of everything. Casey was enveloped in

white light as she summoned her ice power, her fingers shot out

incontrolable blue energy trying to find a destination. Caseyaimed her power at the top of the zombies heads sending icicles

raining down. Is it snowing? Kyle asked incredulously staring

I had to use the bathroom really bad, Casey said pointing to

the grove of trees behind them. Watch out! Casey yelled

pushing them out of the way. There was still one zombie left, he

came over to Casey and touched her forehead sending that icy

feeling down her again.We have waited for you golden cobra,he whispered coming close to her year. Christian hit his head

getting him away from Casey, Casey watched as he disappeared

leaving her forehead tingling. She felt as if all her body heat was

replaced by icy cold water, What type of magic is this? Casey

Casey started shivering violently, her teeth chattering and she

couldnt stop sneezing. Achoo, Casey sneezed as Kyle and

Christian came to her. Christian got a blanket from his backpack

wrapping it around her What did he do? Kyle asked as Caseys

face went extremly pale. I dont know, Casey said, Achoo.

She felt so cold after that zombie had touched her and how did

he know she was the golden cobra. Your sneezes are cute,

Kyle said smiling, theyre like a kitten. Casey smacked his

shoulder getting angry, Grrr,someones fiesty, Kyle said.

Thats a bear noise you idiot, Casey said smirking, Achoo!

Christian started a fire for Casey so she could be warmer. Wow

thats like your thirty fifth one, Kyle said as Casey started

sneezing again. Christian gave him a warning glance, Thank

you for saving us from that thing, Christian said. Anytime,

Casey said muttered exhausted. Casey fell asleep her head

resting on Christians shoulder, I didnt think anyone could do

that, Kyle said as Casey sneezed in her sleep. Do you
