We will have a Blue Moon evening event on that final Wednesday of the month. Barb Hetland and Alex Zaremska have agreed to co-host our Blue Moon meeting which will take place at Alex’s lovely home. Barb and Alex will announce the details at club so plan to attend our January meetings for details. Save the Date: Our annual Area meeting is scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Twin Creeks Retirement Village in Central Point. A price of $16 per person has tentatively been set to cover the cost of the room and a brunch. The Area meeting is an opportunity for our club members to meet with members of the other clubs of the Rogue Valley. Some wonderful friendships have been started with like-minded women of our valley through this annual event. We will have our February Business meeting on February 6 followed by a fun Valentine’s Party on February 13 at Casa Del Pueblo. We had such a great time last year, we decided to do it again this year. This is just a taste of our club schedule. Finally, I hope you take a moment to reflect on this past year. We have seen a steady growth in our membership and we have had success in our fundraising for our operations expenses using Party of Parties. Party of Parties for 2013

by Barbara StoutSI Ashland, via the Human Rights and Status of Women committee, will nominate Walda Reeder as our 2013 Ruby Award recipient. Four years ago, Walda realized that there are women here in our community who work in adult entertainment, often as a desperate last resort. Walda decided to reach out to these women. She regularly brings gifts of cookies and sweets for holidays, treats for their birthdays, and other gifts to show the women that she cares about them and acknowledges that they would not choose to work in adult entertainment given any other viable option. She leads a group who reaches out to the women by assisting them in applying for government assistance, applying for loans and grants to upgrade their skills, and by listening and encouraging them. Walda is available when the women need help to make a change to improve their lives and those of their children.

The Christmas Cookie Exchange Party was much more than ex-changing cookies. Our hostesses Gail Rosenberg and Yolanda Nagel provided lovely finger sandwiches and snacks, eggnog and other beverages. There were special crafts including a souvenir ornament. The cookie ex-changers included our Co-Hostesses and Wendy Ray, Carol Page, Sandy Schorovsky, Kris Diasio, Kathy Mooney, Barb Stout., Susan Moen, Mel Bailey, Judy Faulkner, Patty Hammett, and Georgina. Also at the party were Larry Rosenberg, Chief Terry Holderness and Frosty soaking in the bath tub down the hall.

Welcome New Members: Susan & Susan

Susan Moen is the Executive Direc-tor of the Jackson County Sexual Assault Response Team (JC SART), and joined SIAshland because of her commitment to helping women and girls, and because she was impressed with the joie de vivre she witnessed when accompanying you all to the Northwestern Regional conference in 2011.

Susan moved to Ashland in 2000 af-ter working as an Assistant Director in film and television in Los Angeles; prior to that she worked as a stage manager for Cornerstone Theater. She has a husband Paul, 17 year old son Nick and 15 year old daugh-ter Willa, as well as way too many pets…She is thrilled to be part of SIAshland!

Susan Eisenberg was born and raised in San Francisco (4th genera-tion). With a degree in Criminal Jus-tice she worked as a juvenile proba-tion officer, did undercover work for Pinkerton’s and conducted exten-sive grant work studying crime and violence in secondary schools. She then discovered the business world with stints in advertising and sports marketing. During that time she was associated with many of the Bay Area sports teams including the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Warriors

and Raiders along with UC Berkeley and Stanford football programs and fundraising efforts for after school sports. She joined her husband’s infrared technology company sev-eral years ago. While their three California offices continue to thrive, technology allowed them to move to Ashland where they have been for the past 7 years. Her passion is glass fusing; they are both avid tennis players, gardeners and love to travel, having taken extensive bicycle trips through Europe.

Christmas Partyby Linda AndersonWe had a festive Christmas party at our December 12th meeting. Tables were festooned with Patti’s nutcrackers; yummy desserts were laid out; auc-tion items displayed; party of party signups laid out. And there was a con-test for tackiest Christmas sweater. Mavis’ sweater, dripping in tinsel and dangling with ornaments won, though Georgina’s tacky and torn top came

in a close second. Mavis won a gift certificate to Good Will!
