    The End of the PatriarchalPeriod

    The Patriarchalperiod was dominatedby the three patriarchs: Abraham, Isaacand Jacob

    The term Patriarch means father andleader of a family or a people

    As a side note, given the culture of theperiod the often important role ofMatriarchs was often ignored until

    Jesus came along and especiallyaffirmed and dignified the role of

    The End of the Patriarchal Periodcontinued

    This period of the patriarchs lead to

    150 years of prosperity in Egyptfollowed by about 250 years of slavery

    The dynasty of Pharaohs the Jews

    originally met in Egypt were similar tothemselves in that they came from thesame general geographic region
